About nursery

My son attends nursery 4 days a week. They've had no problem with keeping him later than needed (had a baby 4 month ago, no other childcare). They've kept him until 4 before. I asked for them to have him for an hour extra today.
I was suppose to collect him at 1, realised at 12.17 that I was in enough time to collect him early. Went to nursery, manager let me into the building but my son's key worker, said to never ask them to have my son later again unless I can prove what I am doing such as an appointment and that it really isn't on
I'm quite taken aback, who is BU?

Are you paying them to have your child for the extra time?

It depends - are you paying for the extra time?

No they have never asked for payment but I do help them out as much as I can. I provided my son's lunch and nappies

Is it do with making sure they have enough staff to cover ratios so unexpectedly having to have an extra child when not expected could mess with their numbers?
What times is he down to do? If it's til 4pm for example then he should be collected by that time no?

Do you pay for them to have him additional hours?

His time of nursery is 9-12, when I was having my baby and 5 days in hospital he was there 8.30-4
Today I asked for an hour longer, I'm not angry but more taken aback. I'm going through something very tragic and I just feel like I was attcked by them

If you don't pay for the time then yabu.

They have probably done it before as a gesture of goodwill, but if you continue to ask for free extra care then they probably think you are taking advantage.

See I thought the vote would be I'm BU because it's not paid for but when they had him for two weeks until 4pm, without complaint and this was one time, technically 17 minutes over the arranged time

They didn't ask for a reason, they never have done when he has been in later

I wouldn't expect them to have him longer for free! I mean at the end of the day it is a business and they have staff to pay.

It's ok saying well I provide his lunch and nappies but the staff still need paying, and they don't get paid after a certain time to care for your child.

I think they may of done it once or twice as a goodwill thing, but if you continue to ask them to do such for free they will feel your taking the piss

Why were you supposed to collect at 1 today if your hours are till 12? Collecting at 12:17 isn't collecting early, it's collecting 17 minutes late.
i am amazed they routinely gave you 4 and a half hours free childcare just because you'd had another baby!

Maybe when they done it for free for 2 whole weeks, that was your goodwill times used up?

And did you ask at the time how much extra it would cost, or just assume it was free? I'd just be grateful for the free childcare you had in the past. you sound like a massive pisstaker tbh.

But you were in hospital that's very different. Is this a council nursery op?

Although when I was I hospital the extra hours were still paid for.
