To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?

Sillysausage123 · 26/04/2017 10:33

I'm 37 so maybe this is why I just don't get the obsession every female seems to have with Tom Hardy.
He just looks like an ordinary guy to me but the amount of Facebook memes and posts my female friends post about him and I don't get it. What am I missing?

I'm a similar age to you. I totally get the obsession - he is quite normal but utterly lovely.

user1493022461 · 26/04/2017 10:34

People like him. you and others don't. What's so confusing to you?

VladmirsPoutine · 26/04/2017 10:35

I'd take Nick Clegg over him any day. We all have our types.

theaveragewife · 26/04/2017 10:36

I didn't get it, then I watched Legend and everything changed.

PookieDo · 26/04/2017 10:41

Have you seen much he has acted in? I don't mean the more commercial Hollywood things, some of the lesser known things. He is a special kind of actor to me... he's intense. There is something quite disconcerting about him and a little unnerving. Then in real life he's smiley and shy and likes dogs. There are some films he is repulsive in - lawless and revanent but his acting is in my opinion, brilliant.
I do find him very attractive and also I am fascinated by him but I don't perve all over him on meme's.

nakedandconcerned · 26/04/2017 10:42

I can't explain it op. His face just makes me all fluttery in the ovaries.

glitterglitters · 26/04/2017 10:42

MirandaWest · 26/04/2017 10:45

I don't get it either. Ah well everyone's different I suppose.

glitterglitters · 26/04/2017 10:45

Tbh I don't get Ryan Gosling. He has the expression of a paper towel.

Don't get the fuss about his looks but he loves dogs. This vid should melt all hearts!

Yanbu, don't get it either!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 26/04/2017 10:53

I was just thinking today how lovely he is. I'm not overly fussed about his looks but he's not bad looking by any stretch of the imagination. And he seems so so nice. And he picks good roles. The first thing I saw him in was Wuthering Heights. How could you not fall for him just a bit?

EnglishGirlApproximately · 26/04/2017 10:54

Not my type but I appreciate that I'm in a minority! Most people think I'm the one with unusual taste in though so it's probably me Grin

ProseccoBitch · 26/04/2017 10:54

I'm 40, I don't get it either, but so what? Each to their own.

SomethingAboutNothing · 26/04/2017 10:56

I'm 28 and don't get it either, wouldn't look twice if I saw him walking down the street.

CountryCaterpillar · 26/04/2017 11:00

I Googled him to work out who he was the other day and most people that everyone fancies i "get" even if I don't fancy them myself. This one I didn't. He looks kind of ordinary!

I could list all the ones I do list after hmmmmmm.

ILookedintheWater · 26/04/2017 11:03

Its not his looks. But there is definitely something compelling about him/the roles he plays. I thought it was just that, then I saw the Cbeebies bedtime story, and I realised that comes across as thoroughly pleasant when he isn't acting. Plus he chased down and caught a motorbike thief yesterday which means he's a bit of a hero IRL too.

silkpyjamasallday · 26/04/2017 11:10

I agree OP, don't get what the fuss is about, but I've never seen him in anything. I used to dislike the Ryan gosling obsession until a friend made me watch a few of his films, now I'm in love! So maybe it would be the same with Tom Hardy but I'm not bothered enough to see for myself tbh. Give me Idris Elba any day, my mother and I are both obsessed!

sailorcherries · 26/04/2017 12:01

Tom Hardy makes my ovaries happy and my knickers fall down.

There is just something about his acting that I enjoy, he tends to be very serious and intimidating whatever the role. He can also convey a lot of intense emotion and it makes you believe he's that type of person. Whereas IRL he's a lovely family man, two kids, loves dogs and reads bedtime stories.

I also like the fact that he wasn't/isn't shy about his past struggles with drugs and alcohol and grew up leading a relatively normal life.

sailorcherries · 26/04/2017 12:02

If you like seeing him half naked I'd suggesting watching Warrior, although it's about mma fighters so may not be everyones cup of tea.

SumThucker · 26/04/2017 12:02

No, I don't get it either.

DonaldTrumpsTrump · 26/04/2017 12:05

I don't get the fuss but I also haven't seen any of his films. Then again I do have a thing for Ricky Gervais Hmm

SumThucker · 26/04/2017 12:07

I'd rather have Louis Theroux tbh.
