To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?

Sillysausage123 · 26/04/2017 10:33

I'm 37 so maybe this is why I just don't get the obsession every female seems to have with Tom Hardy.
He just looks like an ordinary guy to me but the amount of Facebook memes and posts my female friends post about him and I don't get it. What am I missing?

My latest crush is the bloke playing Riggs in the new Lethal Weapon on ITV. I can see the appeal there too Grin also love that programme.

squoosh · 26/04/2017 13:51

I quite like the new Lethal Weapon programme, even though it's rubbish, but the guy who plays Riggs looks as though his head has been put in a vice Grin

liquidrevolution · 26/04/2017 14:08

sailor Chris evans from captain america is the latest cbeebies bedtime stories eye candy. May 10th I think? Cant see it personally plus i am waiting for chris pratt to read one

theaveragewife · 26/04/2017 14:08

sailorcherries Chris Evans is doing the Cbeebies bedtime story soon so make sure you have it on record for when the baby needs a snooze Wink

theaveragewife · 26/04/2017 14:09

Sorry, x-post by seconds!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 26/04/2017 14:11

I will like to say I am younger then you and like you do not see the obsession at all.

wineusuallyhelps · 26/04/2017 14:14

He's not the most beautiful man in the world. But whatever 'it' is, he has it. He has all of it.

I definitely haven't got a teenage crush on him. Or google endless pics of him. Because that would be tragic at my age.

ZilphasHatpin · 26/04/2017 14:18

Tom Hardy could stand still and read the back of the crisp packet and I would fall at an undignified heap at his feet,

Grin brilliant!

Gowgirl · 26/04/2017 14:18

You are so unreasonable!
Even dh admits he would turn a blind eye Grin
There's a reason I prefer sainsburies in richmondWink

ZilphasHatpin · 26/04/2017 14:19

he should do more bedtime stories grin

Definitely! I think we have at least 1 more to go this year. Possibly two.

Rufus200 · 26/04/2017 14:19

I don't find Tom Hardy the least bit attractive! Henry Cavill is delicious!!!

newbian · 26/04/2017 14:19

It's the lips Wink

MoonriseKingdom · 26/04/2017 14:22

I saw him in Legend and thought he was excellent but didn't particularly fund him attractive. I then saw him in Taboo and oh my goodness!! There is just something so intense about him. Also that hat that most men just look silly in but he looked fantastic in a rather gothic/ steam punk sort of a way.

But ordinarily I go for much more the David Mitchell type so there you go Grin

sailorcherries · 26/04/2017 14:38

theaveragewife and liquidrevolution thank you! I knew he was at some point but not when. DS is almost 7 though so I might just have to keep him on record until this little one is old enough (elcs on the 16th May).

I also hate everyone who has met Tom Hardy, but if I ever visit London I may shop in that Sainsburys Gowgirl.

Rufus Henry Cavill is gorgeous.

I seemingly have a list as long as my arm of men who I wouldn't kick out of bed for farting/would allow to sit on my face.

Bobbydeniro69 · 26/04/2017 16:13

The reporting and coverage in the mainstream media of Tom Hardy is ridiculously sexist.

He's just treated as a piece of meat , as was the bloke with the scythe in that other Sunday night programme.

If the media made the same comments and reported in the same manner about a female actress, there would be hell to pay, but because they are blokes it's OK somehow.

Genuinely makes me cringe to read it !.

ZilphasHatpin · 26/04/2017 16:14

Bobby are you saying there isn't sexist reporting of female actresses?

squoosh · 26/04/2017 16:20

'*If the media made the same comments and reported in the same manner about a female actress, there would be hell to pay, but because they are blokes it's OK somehow.'

If???

FatGirlWithChocolate · 26/04/2017 16:27

Tom Hardy is..otherworldly ..and just lovely..he was MESMERISING as Ronnie Kray in Legend! Utterly! The "it's a shootout! Like a western!" Scene is just pure genius. He needs to be the next Bond. Yes please!

Cutesbabasmummy · 26/04/2017 16:34

YANBU! I'm 41 and he does nothing for me! I couldn't understand a word he was saying in Taboo and had to watch with the subtitles on! And I saw him reading the CBeebies bedtime stories - what is his accent? Its so weird!!

GreatFuckability · 26/04/2017 16:37

it's his voice for me. it makes my tummy flutter.

PuppyMonkey · 26/04/2017 16:38

Aww. Won't somebody think of the poor men, you terrible sexists?

I think it's impossible to definitively say "I don't fancy Tom Hardy" as he has so many different looks.

Here, just for reporting purposes, is what I mean.

To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?

PuppyMonkey · 26/04/2017 16:39

My photos haven't come out. Sad

DixieFlatline · 26/04/2017 16:43

If the media made the same comments and reported in the same manner about a female actress, there would be hell to pay, but because they are blokes it's OK somehow.

The more objectifying stuff makes me cringe as well (rather than respectful drawing attention to how beautiful someone is) but you are deluded if you think this doesn't happen with regard to women all the fucking time. And in less worship-like terms.

Women who talk like this about male celebs deemed to be 'sex gods' seem to approach it in an 'I would kneel and kiss his feet and he could whisk me away and give me a seeing to' (cringe) way.

Men who talk like this about female celebs deemed to be 'sex gods' seem to approach it in an 'I would tear her down off that pedestal and show her what it's like to serve me as a £5 whore'.

Ever so slightly different dynamic, that.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/04/2017 16:44

My name should demonstrate my allegiance. I think you have to see him acting to truly get it. Like others have said. If you are attracted to a particular look as well. He has had an enormous amount of publicity in the early part of this year and I do wonder if his management/PR are setting him up as serious contender for Bond. I must admit I can see him as Bond as it's too formulaic a role and I would actually be disappointed if he took it on, he's too good an actor who usually goes for more unusual roles.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/04/2017 16:45

can't see him as Bond!
