To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?

Sillysausage123 · 26/04/2017 10:33

I'm 37 so maybe this is why I just don't get the obsession every female seems to have with Tom Hardy.
He just looks like an ordinary guy to me but the amount of Facebook memes and posts my female friends post about him and I don't get it. What am I missing?

I'm with you. Was discussing this very subject with a friend this afternoon. She doesn't get it either.

I do think he's a talented actor though, I just don't get the attraction to his physique.

I didn't get it, until I saw his wink

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/04/2017 18:48

I love him. Taboo was amazing, and I melted at the CBeebies bedtime stories.

He also gave one of my favourite put downs of all time in response to a sexist question Grin (see Justin Trudeau and Joss Whedon for the others)...

here

tinglyfing · 26/04/2017 18:54

He just has that....thing. Not sure what it is really. Watch Locke - that's what did it for me.

user1487175389 · 26/04/2017 18:56

I'm 36 and don't get it at all. Then again I've never watched him in anything. He just looks like Joe Average to me.

Lilyoftheforest · 26/04/2017 18:59

He is vair vair vair yummy! Fit bod, gorgeous face, good actor.

I wubz him in Wuthering Heights! Grin

ShuttyTown · 26/04/2017 19:02

He's fucking delightful GrinGrin

GottaCatchEmAll137 · 26/04/2017 19:54

Have the biggest YABU that I can muster. He is the only man that makes me feel legitimately sad that I will never marry him.

PookieDo · 26/04/2017 19:54

I've seen him doing movie promo interviews and when he is with another actor he is much more relaxed and comfortable. He was also ok on Alan Carr last time. I really don't think he likes interviews people seem to ask him the same bloody questions about his past and you can tell he just doesn't want to talk about it. Which is fair do's.

I love his horrendous horrible characters more than his hot ones. He really pulls off a nasty character

PookieDo · 26/04/2017 19:56

No one will ever have a voice as sexy as Richard Burton. He wins that one!

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 26/04/2017 19:59

He's a very handsome man, not sure what it is you don't get tbh... Confused
As for the scruffy look that's when he's at his best IMHO, Taboo was awesome -particularly liked the 'Hmmmm' thing he did quite a lot.

Cookie1831 · 26/04/2017 20:43

Oh the grunts! I never got it until taboo and now I must confess I make my children watch his bed time stories in the mid afternoon

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/04/2017 20:58

I read an interview with him recently where he talks about the blandness of the modern Hollywood hero here so I think we can enjoy his nasty characters for a lot longer!

This is also an interesting interview - he's certainly more thoughtful than you're average Hollywood sleb with their carefully controlled soundbites.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/04/2017 20:58

your!

Flumplet · 26/04/2017 21:13

Oh god I can't get enough of him at the moment -I didn't know he existed until we watched taboo and now he seems to be all over the place. Agree with previous posters that he is quite intense and that was what appealed to me. That his beautiful lips. And his blue eyes - I'm a sucker for blue eyes. He also has incredible shoulders. And likes dogs. What's not to like?!

decena · 26/04/2017 21:17

I never saw the appeal until Taboo. Now I think he is sex on legs and have been watching his other stuff. He is very much a character actor who finds more challenge in the nasty roles than fluffy romcoms (which I can only find one, This Means War). He is a good looking bloke but definitely has the X factor when looking roughed up with stubble and short hair.

He doesn't play the Hollywood game and i agree with the poster above that says he is uncomfortable he is in interviews. He has a great bromance with Leo diCaprio and I can see why, as both are real actors with a love of the craft and enjoys the challenge of the role. I hope he doesn't become the next Bond as he is too talented to be typecast.

Apparently, despite his loathing of celebrity, he is always approachable to fans and does selfies and autographs.

Also notable that he has not made any comment or milked the recent "moped thief chase" in the slightest.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/04/2017 21:20

Nope, don't get it. He isn't my ideal chap. Now, all of the Chrises.....Hemsworth, Evans, Pratt mmmmmm

Magicpaintbrush · 26/04/2017 21:22

Nah, not interested. In fact I think he looks a bit like my brother (when with beard) - so no.

TakeThatFuckingDressOffNow · 26/04/2017 21:33

Fanny gallops (best expression I have learnt from mumsnet). It's Tom all day long.... I don't quite know what it is but he is the fittest bloke I have ever seen....

Magic, don't tell me that about your brother!!!! Naughty!!!!

Trustyourself2 · 26/04/2017 21:33

YANBU. He's not for me. I've currently got the hots for Tim McInnerny.

To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?
Mulberry72 · 26/04/2017 21:35

YABU.

Tom Hardy makes my fanjo sing! Grin

user1487175389 · 26/04/2017 22:07

That's quite a talent.

Crowdblundering · 26/04/2017 22:08

Have you not seen Taboo? Confused

Crowdblundering · 26/04/2017 22:09

decena

Same - it's the voice.
