To not get the Tom Hardy obsession?

Sillysausage123 · 26/04/2017 10:33

I'm 37 so maybe this is why I just don't get the obsession every female seems to have with Tom Hardy.
He just looks like an ordinary guy to me but the amount of Facebook memes and posts my female friends post about him and I don't get it. What am I missing?

Puppy. They did, I can see them. Thank you! Grin

ZilphasHatpin · 26/04/2017 16:46

I can't see him as bond either james

LakieLady · 26/04/2017 16:48

I don't suffer from Tom Hardy lust, but I find him an utterly mesmerising actor. My favourite film of his is "Locke".

It's just a man on the phone in his car (it could be a radio play, ffs), but it is utterly engrossing and it's all down to him.

He also seems like an utterly nice bloke, especially now I've seen him playing with the dogs.

My current lust object is Alexander Dreymon, and I don't even like blokes with long hair, generally.

PuppyMonkey · 26/04/2017 16:48

Oh hooray, they worked after all.

He could be a different kind of mumbly Welsh James Bond.

  • disclaimer, I bloody hate James Bond films.
BlowingThroughTheJasmineinMyMi · 26/04/2017 16:49

He's just as intense in real life as he is in acting. It's very knicker wetting if you're that way inclined. Which I am

^^ Wando Shock you have met him Shock

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/04/2017 16:55

He seems to knock around the Richmond/east sheen area a lot. My crush on him is subsiding a little bit but maybe only to normal levels as it was a bit too intense at one point and I really don't know why! I don't normally obsess to that degree Blush.

I agree his rl accent is utterly weird - it's like he doesn't know what to do with it!

NewPapaGuinea · 26/04/2017 16:55

Have you seen his work? Not all about looks...

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 26/04/2017 17:01

YABU.

He's fit as fuck.

kennypppppppp · 26/04/2017 17:09

I totally don't get it either. He's like a diluted Colin Farrell to me.

PookieDo · 26/04/2017 17:18

Re his accent, I think where I have seen it be a bit weird in an interview it's when he's felt uncomfortable. Some interviews he seems more at ease and relaxed and some - like the one on Jonathan Ross he clearly hated every minute of it and possibly nerves got the better of him

PookieDo · 26/04/2017 17:19

One of my fave characters of his is I Martina Coles The Take
He's vile but you really believe it

Pookie, I love Freddie Jackson. Absolutely horrendous character, he was brilliant.

I think he can come across as arrogant but it looks more like discomfort to me. There's a few people on MN who have met him and all say he's really lovely. I haven't met him though Sad

ShatnersBassoon · 26/04/2017 17:27

I can understand questioning this if everyone was going doo-lally for someone like George Osborne, but TH has standard good looks (symmetrical face, chiselled features, soft-looking full lips, strong physique etc). He's certainly nothing like Cumberbatch with the 'weirdly attractive' thing.

I think he sounds like John Hurt, especially in that Sky ad.

happypoobum · 26/04/2017 17:31

OP you need help Grin

TH is the living end

He made one mumsnetter ovulate - True Fact.

JamesDelaneysHat · 26/04/2017 17:36

That was me happypoobum Blush
I did say my obsession was out of hand at one point.

Katkincake · 26/04/2017 17:40

I reserve my shivery loins for Ryan Gosling (never got it till I watched him in crazy stupid love) rather than Tom Hardy, but I can understand the appeal, it's all in the brooding characters he plays. All my teenage crushes were the bad boys in 80s film, I still have a major soft spot for James Spader after pretty in pink!

ZilphasHatpin · 26/04/2017 17:43

He was brought up in east sheen so possibly has family there.

He interviews very badly and I think it's entirely down to confidence. I don't think he is at all comfortable being himself.

ZilphasHatpin · 26/04/2017 17:46

Is your cousin single clem? And attracted to 30yo single mothers? Grin

MsGameandWatch · 26/04/2017 18:14

He's a beautiful man. Beautiful face, beautiful voice, beautiful demeanour.

I hear he was quite the handful when younger and I often wonder what his first wife of all the TH love...

CountryCaterpillar · 26/04/2017 18:27

I really don't like the facial hair. Or the eyes

cheerylilthing · 26/04/2017 18:30

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm 28 & have no idea why people care about him so much & in terms of the cbeebies bed time story I'd rather listen to someone like Maxine Peake

TheExuberant1 · 26/04/2017 18:34

I am 38. I don't like him. He looks like he needs a good wash and he mumbles. He acts the same in everything he does! He puts on a strange London accent and even though I am from London I can barely understand him sometimes.
