To be disappointed with my engagment proposal?

I feel so silly writing this. In May last year just after a mc, my other half proposed. But I'm so disappointed in how he done it.
He had been stewing all day to do it (seen the box in his back pocket, pretended not to notice) eventually at 11pm, he woke me up told me he loved me and proposed there. So technically not even down on one knee.
I just feel so underwhelmed by it, I don't even like wearing the ring cause it reminds me of how badly done it was Blush

Glad I'm not a man. YABU.

wowbutter · 05/03/2017 19:01

If it means that much to you, ask him to do it again.
Or, try and get over it. Those are your choices.

ImperialBlether · 05/03/2017 19:01

What would you have liked to happen? (I have to feel sorry for this guy, btw!)

AndShesGone · 05/03/2017 19:02

You are fixating on the wrong thing.

Are you now married ?

harderandharder2breathe · 05/03/2017 19:02

Yabu, life isn't a fairytale

I think it's romantic that he finally couldn't wait any longer and woke you up to do it!

PotteringAlong · 05/03/2017 19:03

Really? Really? The fact that someone loves you enough to want to spend the rest of his life with you, to the exclusion of all others, isn't special enough?

SillyBub · 05/03/2017 19:03

I'm married. I've never been engaged or proposed to

PuddleJumper01 · 05/03/2017 19:04

Why has it taken you 10 months to write about it??? Did you really mean May last year?

Sorry for your loss with the mc

Avioleta · 05/03/2017 19:04

Oh don't be silly. This is real life not Instagram. The man you marry wants to marry you too. that's wonderful. Not everyone is so lucky. Get a grip, count your blessings and stop being so precious.

TinyMackBear4 · 05/03/2017 19:04

Not yet married, just had a baby 10 days ago.
Really harder? I sort of see it as, any longer and he would have changed his mind and not done it.
Not sure what I expected, a dinner out? A bath run? Just something that I didn't get

Congratulations

Avioleta · 05/03/2017 19:04

*man you love

HermioneJeanGranger · 05/03/2017 19:05

I am so glad I'm not a man!

The man you love wants to spend the rest of his life with you, isn't that enough?

FairNotFair · 05/03/2017 19:06

I'd have been mortified if DH had gone down on one knee. It's not the Middle Ages and he's not a verray parfit gentil knight he works in corporate finance, actually

IfNotNowThenWhenever · 05/03/2017 19:06

Don't you have more important things to think about? Christ on a Bike.

AndShesGone · 05/03/2017 19:07

Well you just had a baby 10 days ago so maybe it's just crazy ass hormones

Maybe we should cut you some slack

OnHold · 05/03/2017 19:07

I'm getting a sense of deja vu here Have you posted about this before?

Applebite · 05/03/2017 19:07

V sorry about the mc, OP.

As for the proposal, where the man you love loves you too and wants to spend the rest of his life with you? as chandler bing once said: "my wallet's too small for my 50's and my diamond shoes are too tight"!!

glenthebattleostrich · 05/03/2017 19:07

This is probably more to do with hormones than anything else.

If it helps my 'proposal' was him grunting, well after this long I suppose we should go ring shopping.

RayofFuckingSunshine · 05/03/2017 19:07

YABU. In 20 years when you're married (if you're married), your engagement really won't matter. They're not important at all. Neither are weddings.

ShatnersBassoon · 05/03/2017 19:08

Well if he wasn't on one knee it doesn't count, so you are well within your rights to tell him to sling his hook and take his ring with him. A clumsy proposal is not legally binding.

Grin fgs just get on with your life.

ScarlettFreestone · 05/03/2017 19:08

I'm sorry but you need to get over it.

Getting married is about love, not production values.

Whatthefudger · 05/03/2017 19:08

My husband basically handed my engagement ring in the kitchen whilst I was washing up and said "do you want this".
That was it and I was over the moon. Why does it matter.

Booshbeesh · 05/03/2017 19:08

Lol ahaha... he was obviosuly nervous. I think uts romantic..he was obviously sat watching u sleep and head over heels in love with u and thought "oh my god nerves asife i need yhis drooling snooring woman in my bed forever"... either that or he doesnt want to marry u but the nuni is amazing so couldnt let u go either way.
