AIBU?

To not wear clean clothes everyday

Clothes are not "dirty," they don't smell and I don't want to wash them. I hang them up on a peg/chair to air and wear another couple of times over the course of the week.
DH doesn't understand this and thinks it's a bit minky.
Talking about tops, jeans etc......not pants and socks. Bras are a whole nother subject.

Another vote for pants and close t-shirts once, and trousers and outer layers if they are unmarked and pass a sniff test.

Laundry mountain is bad enough as it is!

I also think loads of people are really unwashed. I travel on the tube and it's really obvious to me who hasn't showered and washed their hair. Fine if you've got long hair to not wash your hair every day but men with short hair just look really unwashed if they don't do their hair.

Yanbu.

Jeans get worn several times, tops 2-3 times unless their actually stained. Socks and pants are washed after every use but bras again are worn several times.

Dh does wear a clean tshirt as he gets a bit sweaty.

Haha well I wash my hair every 2 days and bedsheets every 3 weeks.

Does it matter?

Shower every day and wash my hair (can't leave it!!), undies daily and tops/cardis/trousers when they need it...probably every two wears. I'm not a sweaty person but DH has to wash his clothes more regularly.

A guy working in a Levi's shop once told me you should never was jeans.

Knickers, socks get changed daily.
Bras are hand washed after a few wears (apart from in summer), machine washing wrecks nice bras.
Work trousers & tops are washed after a couple of wears. Stuff I wear at home is washed less frequently unless sweaty/stained or has cooking smells. If you shower every day and haven't been sweaty/in a smelly environment then washing clothes after one wear is unnecessary and terribly wasteful.

Aside from underwear, my clothes get washed if they smell or acquire a 'dinner medal'

Dizzy DH never washes his jeans, only when they become gardening jeans do they get washed.

To the person who's DH is Australian - he does know that Britain doesn't get as hot as Australia, doesn't he? And I assume he's not from Victoria, given that there's been a drought there for yonks, can't imagine doing loads if laundry would go down a storm there.

Sorry, but I've heard this gumph from Aussies before.

Btw it's just the clothes I don't wash daily. I shower daily, wear deodorant and brush my teeth etc. Otherwise my user name would be happydirtysmellyhippy45

Pants, socks, first layer top daily. Bra sometimes daily, more often 2 days.
Outer tops, jumpers etc a few wears, depends on the fabric and how much they hold onto smells (cooking).
Trousers/jeans maybe 4-5 days.
After having had a similar discussion with friends at a coffee recently, I'm pretty normal! Except one friend who washes everything after one wear and one who admitted to wearing jeans for about a month before washing.

Wash everything after one wear, except cardigans which have been worn as an extra layer for warmth (not next to the skin).

Even if you don't drip with sweat, during the course of a busy day (and with the weather still being quite warm) clothes will be stale.

I had a colleague who thought there was no need to wash clothes after one wear. She was the only person who couldn't smell herself though. It's not that she smelled sweaty (although she did on occasion, but that's because she only changed her bra every week or two) but she smelled stale and sort of unwashed instead of fresh.

Coats/jackets- once a year at the very most. Some I have are a few years old and never been washed. I wash my fleece maybe 3 times a year though.

CremeEgg jeggings do stretch right round the crotch though! The crease of legs at the front is often quite a sweaty area even if the rest of you isn't. Are you sure they really don't smell after day 2 (or 1)?!

Everything gets washed after it's been worn once,I couldn't put the children or wear anything myself that hadn't been washed since the last time it was worn.

But each to they're own I say!

I wash everything after just one wear. Maybe not a long skirt every time. And not necessarily jeans. I find clothes don't smell "clean" after they've been worn. And yes I shower and wash hair daily and wear decent deodorant.

Surely different people smell different amounts? I think I sweat more than most people, even in an office, so at the end of the day my clothes need a wash. Obvs I shower, wear a good antiperspirant etc. Others who don't sweat presumably don't need to. And there are probably a few people who THINK they fall into one category, and really fall into the other!

I wear dry clean only jumpers/ cardis more than once as long as they don't smell or have visible marks on them. Everything else is washed after every wear, except possibly jeans which may get a second wear. I shower and wash my hair every day. I can't stand not showering every morning and if I don't wash my hair every day I feel "stale". I don't get how anyone can happily go about without showering every day, I feel creepy and really uncomfortable if I ever have to rush out anywhere unshowered.

Of course YANBU (in what you do - title is a bit confusing. If it's not clean, then it does go in the wash).

Pants and socks / tights go in the wash automatically, everything else gets looked at first - if it still looks clean then it's sniffed, and that's the decider.

why on earth would people wash jumpers and trousers, etc after one wear ? Confused

I wash everything after one wear, except for possibly skirts which have been worn over tights for work. Used to be able to wear a jumper or cardigan more than once when I was younger, but find that nowadays I sweat too much and am more sensitive to eg. cooking smells on clothes.

Weirdly, I used to hardly ever need to wash my bras - they never smelt or got dirty, and I'd wash them every week maybe (though not wear the same bra for a week). After I had my daughter my breasts seem to sweat a lot more (plus they are bigger than before!) and I can only wear a bra once as it gets too sweaty otherwise and I get skin rashes! Has this happened to anyone else? Very weird. It seemed to happen once I stopped breastfeeding. Wonder if it's hormonal or just getting older.

Oh and I shower and wash my hair every day - I've always had to wash my hair every day since puberty (it gets too greasy otherwise). I have no intention of trying out the method of leaving it so long the grease goes away! I find hair smells horrible quite quickly if it's not washed. I am quite sensitive to smells though.

(On another note, sorry to hijack the thread, but my MIL is of the firm belief that she doesn't need to bath very often nor change her clothes - and she sometimes sleeps in them then wears them the next day. It is horrible, and she does smell. She also won't buy a washing machine but washes all her clothes by hand every so often as she thinks a washing machine is wasteful. How can we suggest to her tactfully that she needs to wash/wash clothes more? It's really grim when she comes round, even 3yo DD has started to make comments about it. I think she has lost a lot of her sense of smell hence not really being able to tell herself. Help!)

I could never get out of the shower of a morning and out on already worn clothes, the idea grosses me out. Clean body, clean clothes.
