To not wear clean clothes everyday

Happyhippy45 · 10/10/2016 16:47

Clothes are not "dirty," they don't smell and I don't want to wash them. I hang them up on a peg/chair to air and wear another couple of times over the course of the week.
DH doesn't understand this and thinks it's a bit minky.
Talking about tops, jeans etc......not pants and socks. Bras are a whole nother subject.

Its unnecessary to change clothes every day, bar underwear. Yes maybe in the summer when you sweat or if the clothing is physically dirty, but if you are inside most of the day or just popping down the shop or park then no.

Rattusn · 10/10/2016 23:10

I agree it's very bad for the environment to be washing all clothes after one wear. That a lot of washing!

Happyhippy45 · 10/10/2016 23:12

meadows you tumble dry everything? Wow. That is so wasteful. Buy a clothes horse.

I wear bras for about a week

I can't imagine wearing a bra twice let alone for a week. Grim.

I'm another one who washes pretty much everything after one wear. Jeans I'll usually wear twice, PJs too, but that's it.

Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:17

that is so wasteful. Buy a clothes horse. WHY? Serious question. Why the fuck should I buy a clothes horse? I bought a tumble dryer because I like the way my clothes dry softly in it, why on earth would I buy a clothes horse? Because you think I should????

Rattusn · 10/10/2016 23:19

meadows because doing so much laundry, and tumble drying everything, is very bad for the environment.

Sunbeam18 · 10/10/2016 23:21

Meadows, because of the energy you waste??!

Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:25

Meadows, because of the energy you waste??!. I don't waste it, I USE it.

Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:26

meadows because doing so much laundry, and tumble drying everything, is very bad for the environment.. So I should choose not to dry my clothes in the manner I wish, using a perfectly legal machine, just to suit someone else's environmental concerns? Get a grip. I like soft clothes. I went to currys, bought a dryer and pay for electric every month in order to use it as much as I want.

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:33

It kind of boils my blood to see people blithely posting stuff like "I only ever wear anything once then I wash it".

That's fine if it's knickers vests/t-shirts or socks but if it's jeans, jumpers, etc. then you are exactly the type of person who is decimating our resources.

Give your head a wobble for gods sake Hmm

Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:35

Give your head a wobble for gods sake hmm. Gives yours a wobble. What's it like being the patron saint of energy saving lol.

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:35

Meadows - you do know we are going to have no fossil fuels in a few decades right?

Or have you been studiously ignoring the warnings?

Are you very ill informed?

Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:36

Oh and be careful not to wast too much energy boiling that blood of yours Halo

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:36

Oh dear Meadows.

Poor you - you have no idea do you?

PoppyBirdOnAWire · 10/10/2016 23:38

👜

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:38

Yes dear.

Whatever you say.

Hope you have your solar panels and wind turbine sorted and arranged.

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:39

Poppy!!

Is that a handbag?

At dawn?

Wink
Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:39

Poor you - you have no idea do you. oh i do, I'm not sure exactly what makes you think my choice to dry my clothes in a tumble dryer means I have no idea about energy.

Happyhippy45 · 10/10/2016 23:40

I suppose ignorance is bliss to some folks.
A tumble dryer not only uses resources it costs you money. If you are comfortable burning your money rather than hanging it up to dry then good for you you entitled lazy twat. Ffs.
I can afford to use my tumble dryer. I choose to make a bit of an effort and hang my clothes up to dry instead of burning fossil fuels.

A tumble dryer not only uses resources it costs you money. If you are comfortable burning your money rather than hanging it up to dry then good for you you entitled lazy twat. I'm missing the point where using something that is available to me makes me 'entitled' I bloody pay for it? What's entitled about it? I'm not asking someone else to pay for it? It's a shame you have to resort to name calling, makes you look fresh out of primary school. Bless.

Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:44

Eh?

I never mentioned your tumble dryer Confused but since you mention it... using a tumble dryer if you have a garden/balcony/clothes horse is ridiculous.

I'm referring to overall waste of energy by washing clothes that are worn once - like jumpers, jeans etc.

So wasteful.

avamiah · 10/10/2016 23:45

Meadows,
I'm with you, i bloody wash everday and use the dryer.
I work everyday and travel on the underground in london and usually stand up for the 25 minute journey home in a carriage that is over crowded and has no air con.
My clothes go straight in the wash bag and then into the wash sometime that evening.

Meadows76 · 10/10/2016 23:47

using a tumble dryer if you have a garden/balcony/clothes horse is ridiculous. why? Please tell me what is ridiculous about it? What is ridiculous about USING something you own?

Happyhippy45 · 10/10/2016 23:48

meadows Entitled to waste energy for your convenience. Like we have an endless supply available.

OP posts:
Salmotrutta · 10/10/2016 23:49

And yes - tumble dryers use a heck of a lot of energy.

Coal will run out in about 200 years.

Oil in maybe 50 (think that's right?)

So we are left with... hydro power, nuclear energy (no thanks), wind, solar, wave etc.

Meanwhile we have people like Meadows who appear to be very blasé about it all.

Do you have a 4x4 too Meadows?
