To not wear clean clothes everyday

Happyhippy45 · 10/10/2016 16:47

Clothes are not "dirty," they don't smell and I don't want to wash them. I hang them up on a peg/chair to air and wear another couple of times over the course of the week.
DH doesn't understand this and thinks it's a bit minky.
Talking about tops, jeans etc......not pants and socks. Bras are a whole nother subject.

Since I heard Vivienne Westwood say that she never washes her bras I also try to avoid it. Even handwashing knackers them IMO.

HumpMeBogart · 12/10/2016 19:40

And I'll say to you that if you sweat through three layers of clothes to your coat then you should see your doctor. Menopause (if that's what it is) shouldn't be so unkind. I suspect you've developed some kind of paranoia if you think your coat is sweaty.

I'm with Elvira - my coat smells of sweat after a couple of wears, even over 2-3 layers. Have to wash all tops after one wear - anything next to my armpits, plus jumpers - because I don't want to smell of BO.

I've been tested for everything under the sun - hormone levels are apparently normal. I'm not overweight, don't do a manual job, and I'm not going through the menopause (I've been super-sweaty for 20 years!) Some people just sweat a lot - and like Elvira said, if you don't, you probably don't know how lucky you are!

Underwear and socks..every day change. Everything else, if it's dirty or smelly or I feel it needs freshening up. i think you wear your clothes out by washing too much, and also washing, drying and ironing aren't my fave things...and I work so I have to fit jobs round that. Luckily we aren't a dirty sweaty family.....!

Daydream007 · 12/10/2016 19:43

I'm the same. No need to wash certain clothes after every wear if still fresh and clean.

Sunbeam18 · 12/10/2016 19:48

How can people have huge numbers of bras? They are £40ish each! I usually only have max of 3.

flowerpothead · 12/10/2016 19:53

I am breastfeeding and have 3 small DC so am essentially a human tissue. So it's a rare occasion that it doesn't all go in the wash. When I finish feeding though it will be back to pants, socks, tshirts daily and jeans and jumpers when dirty.
My nod to the environment was to look in the instructions of my washing machine to see which cycle uses least energy and water per kg and I always save washing until I have a full load.
Have just worked out my ear smells of baby sick :-s

Happyhippy45 · 12/10/2016 19:54

Sunbeam I've never spent £40 on a bra! I'd probably frame it if I did😂

End of season sales Confused

I get the ones I want in the back end of the sales when at least 60% off.

I am six months pregnant and my back kills. I can't be bothered to do ANYTHING. I put on my leggings this morning that I wore two days running and forgot - this morning only, not the previous two days :-) - to put on knickers. I only put on knickers because I left the house. Special occasion. Whoo!

woodhill · 12/10/2016 20:07

My tops are always sweaty at the end of a day at work so need to be washed.

Sunbeam18 · 12/10/2016 20:09

Where can I get cheap machine washable bras for big boobs??! I always go to Bravissimo and then have to hand wash to avoid the wire coming through!

Zoflorabore · 12/10/2016 20:11

The only thing I would wear again would be knitwear type things or jackets, everything else worn once, even pyjamas.

CattyMcCatface · 12/10/2016 20:14

I lost 10 pages- think I fainted at page 5 where someone said they iron their tea towels! What?! Whyyyy?

woodhill · 12/10/2016 20:16

I iron tea towels to sterilise them itms

NickyEds · 12/10/2016 20:22

Catty My MIL irons her dish cloths. And her bath towels, underwear.....everything made of fabric gets ironed.

Designjunkie · 12/10/2016 20:31

I haven't read all of this thread so if this has been covered I apologise but I find it hard to believe that some people on here really wash everything daily. Do none of you daily washers work in the city or in a job that requires wearing a suit ? I find it hard to believe you'd want to spend that amount of money on dry cleaning. Even if you are washing casual clothes daily they won't last as long. Each to their own.

Zoflorabore · 12/10/2016 20:32

I iron tea towels too, and face cloths, hand towels but not bath towels ( apart from the show towels that nobody uses ) runs and hides from thread....

Thingamajiggy · 12/10/2016 20:36

Here is a tip.. buy underwear with 2or 3 bottoms for every bra (esp black ones) as you can get away with wearing a bra twice or sometimes 3 in winter.

Of course it's mad to wash ALL your clothing after every wash.

I wash underwear and socks after every wear except sometimes bra.
Tops or t-shirts next to skin, usually every day too.

Jeans/trousers every second day. Jumpers every 2-3 wears.

Pyjamas every 2-3 days.

is he the one who does the washing??

StarlingMurmuration · 12/10/2016 20:40

I do that when buying pants and bra sets, Thingamajiggy!

Dominithecat · 12/10/2016 20:43

M and s do packs of 2 for around £20 non under wired so machine washable. 4 of mine are 2years old and still usable. Bought another pack earlier this year 36F but plenty of other sizes.

Notmuchtosay1 · 12/10/2016 20:45

I wish my other half would change his clothes more. He changes underwear and socks daily. But he's a farmer and gets his trousers very dirty. He still won't change them. He will wear for at least a week, covered in cow poo and goodness knows what. When I ask him to put them in the wash he says "what's the point they'll get dirty again!" Makes me cross. Shirts he changes daily in summer, every few days in winter, but the jumper is always gross like the jeans.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/10/2016 20:56

Dom- Fashion World do under wired washable ones.

Onlytimewilltell · 12/10/2016 21:06

I have clean clothes daily, and it's not uncommon for me to put clean socks and underwear on twice in a day!
I do sweat a lot with anxiety though, so get wet, although as far as I'm aware I don't smell!

Serialweightwatcher · 12/10/2016 21:26

I do sniff test for tops and trousers which are usually fine for 2 or 3 wears - knickers every day changed and socks - I've now taken to sniffing DCs tops (not always such a good idea) because one of them (16yrs) tries something on and then chucks on floor if decides not to wear - for ages I washed everything and just got ridiculous - even sniff DP's jumpers now because he does the same as DS Angry

Happyhippy45 · 12/10/2016 21:28

....btw my DH does all the laundry. I had a hissy fit a few years ago about unfair distribution of household chores. he's shite at but I'm not letting him off
