To not wear clean clothes everyday

Happyhippy45 · 10/10/2016 16:47

Clothes are not "dirty," they don't smell and I don't want to wash them. I hang them up on a peg/chair to air and wear another couple of times over the course of the week.
DH doesn't understand this and thinks it's a bit minky.
Talking about tops, jeans etc......not pants and socks. Bras are a whole nother subject.

Everything gets changed daily except jeans and bras. Bras get sniffed and jeans get held up and checked for stains or knee marks.

Chopstick17 · 12/10/2016 22:24

I now realise that I am very lucky to not sweat much at all. I don't have the time to be washing clothes every day.

Crunchymum · 12/10/2016 22:51

Out of interest the "don't mention bras" brigade - what do you mean?

Are you like me and only have 2 decent bras or do you change them 3 times a day??? Grin

cheval · 12/10/2016 23:21

Exactly! We are not in the tropics. When it was ridiculously hot here, everything got changed and we showered multiple times. Now it's cooled down, so can we. If it's whiffy, wash it. If not, don't.

Dowser · 12/10/2016 23:31

I'm very unsteady, even in thirty degree heat like it is at the moment.

Underwear ...every day.

Dresses get two wears before they get washed. If I went on the sniff test probably would go a week.
Nighties get two wears.

Cardigans on top of long sleeved dresses get three to four wears.

I don't wear jeans, skirts or tops.

Dowser · 12/10/2016 23:31

Unsweaty

MuseumOfCurry · 13/10/2016 09:01

I tend not to sweat very much. My husband, on the other hand, sweats giant fuckloads and can't get away with wearing anything twice, outside of jeans or jumpers.

Londonmamabychance · 13/10/2016 11:15

Chrunchymum I only have three that fit at any given time (probably have at least 20, but with two pregnancies and quite big weight loss/weight gain in the last 3 years, only three fit at the moment and once I have my next baby and start breastfeeding, I expecti another set to fit, and then after breastfeeding another set again...can't be buying a mllion bras for different stages!) on and change them around depending on what colour/strap matches/does not show through the outfit I'm wearing.

STOP WASTING WATER!!!

STOP WASTING WATER!!!

STOP SHOUTING!!!

iMogster · 13/10/2016 20:22

I have dry skin and don't sweat much, so I feel fine about wearing the same top 2 days in a row and jeans 4 days in a row. I change knickers and socks daily. My DH has oily skin and is sweaty and so changes his top every day. My kids have new clothes every day because they are messy, but PJs get changed less often. It's cheaper, less work and the clothes last longer.

lazydog · 13/10/2016 21:32

Regarding "tumble drier wars" - I use the tumble drier almost exclusively. Our house gets too damp in the wintertime if we try to dry anything indoors and I can't line dry mine or DS1's stuff (or towels, in case we're the ones who use them) in the summertime as it's awful for our hayfever. I felt bad about it until I realised that our drier is 2.5kW and my iron is 1.5kW. When I tumble dry, nothing needs ironing, and if I were to iron a full load of washing that takes an hour in the drier, it'd take me at least twice that to iron it lack of practice probably so I'm actually saving the environment Grin

I think i'm going to be very wary of mumsnet from now on. Seen to many threads like this ending up in the Daily Fail. This is lazy journalism. I bet Happyhippy45 has a great time dreaming up threads for her next article. Don't trust Mumsnet anymore I'm afraid.

Happyhippy45 · 20/10/2016 23:24

Aye great.....fame for wearing "dirty" clothes.
I'm going to be very wary about what I post now. I find this completely ridiculous.

I was EVERYTHING after 1 wear. And shower and wash my hair at least once a day. But I am just a fairly sweaty person! Not sure if it's due to meds I am on.

Overshoulderbolderholder · 21/10/2016 00:03

New Knicks and socks daily, bra., can wear these for 2 or 3 days, don't know why they go under the radar. Most clothes only wear once. Jeans maybe twice but they get too big after a day. Jumpers more than once if I have a t- shirt under. That's just what I feel comfortable with not going to justify it..
An unconnected issue I know, but, I always seem to have too much washing Confused

Happyhippy45 · 21/10/2016 09:11

green18 I'm not the journalist.
I started another thread about getting sent a message from a radio station in Ireland wanting to speak to me about this thread. Someone posted a link showing me the daily fail had already nabbed it.

I think it was mentioned on absolute radio yesterday by Geoff Lloyd who thought it was hilarious

Willow2016 · 21/10/2016 10:28

lol at the 'smelling of wee' cos you dont use a tumble drier!

Havent had a tumble drier in 10 years! manage quite well without it. We have radiators, a washing line and airers. Its a pain in the winter if I cant get washing outside but it dries quickly when the heating is on anyway in the evenings. And like many mums I work yet still manage to get a washing on the line! Its not impossible for everyone.

Its horses for courses, if you work in a job where you get grubby then of course you wash clothes, if you dont get them dirty why wash them 'just for the sake of it'?

I dont sweat under arms unless its boiling (as in Florida this year!) its a female 'thing' with my family, none of us do, so dont change tops for a couple of days (3 at the weekend if I am slobbing or blitzing house and nobody to see me Smile) same with jeans.

Undies daily. Pjs 2 - 3 nights.

Same with kids. If the clothes aren not dirty, how can they be after wearing them for a few hours after school/slobbing in the house on a saturday, they do another day. Obviously if they get soiled in some way they go in the wash.

I already do a wash daily, more if I am doing bedding so why make more?

Happyhippy45 · 21/10/2016 13:15

Oh my woodhill the dizzying heights of fame!

Bananabread123 · 21/10/2016 13:32

giraffes

Seriously, everything??? Even jumpers worn for an hour or two on a cold day? Coats? Gloves?
Or maybe you're Australian and every day's a sweaty one.

woodhill · 21/10/2016 15:14
