To do my husbands washing?

I was chatting to a friend the other day and she was very surprised that I do my husbands washing. I had never even thought about it, I just bung all the washing in together. She mocked me a bit and said that my husband was a grown man and should do it himself, like I was being completely anti-feminist. Have I missed something here? Am I being a doormat by doing his washing?! It makes no sense to me to separate it out and expect him to do it himself.

I do my husbands washing because I like doing it and it all goes in together.
He does loads of the cleaning and washing up though.

I do it all together too - it would take longer to separate it. I also do 90% of the ironing. We're a team, I do stuff for him, he does stuff for me. He'll stick a load of washing on if he sees it needs put on.

I do everyone's washing, it's all chucked in the basket together, and I want to spend as little time as possible handling my sons undies so I'm not going to start picking it all apart.

They put washes on too sometimes, and don't just do their own.

We're a team here and all jobs are usually to benefit us both ie I'll do the washing and everyone's stuff gets washed: he'll wash up and wash up everyone's stuff etc etc

We do family washing, whoever sees the baskets are full does the washing (we have a lights and a colours basket).

So no, YANBU.

It just seems the easiest way to do it, if I am doing a dark load I am going to pick up all the dark clothes and put them in and save having the washing machine on more than it needs to be.

By no means do I think women should do their OH washing, but for me it doesn't make sense. I don't like to be seen as gullible for doing it!!

Whoever does the washing puts in the whole families' wash in this house.

It would seem inefficient to run a half empty wahing machine.

I will add that when I am working at the weekend my DH does wash loads and puts my stuff in with it, I would be a bit miffed if he left mine out and told me to do it myself!!

I do it because it would be a faff to seperate, it just gets bunged in together.. It's hardly an effort!

He does my ironing, so I think I got the best deal.

I used to but then he yelled at me because I accidently washed his wallet so I now refuse to do it.

Nice only having mine and DS's stuff to worry about.

Whatever point your friend was trying to make, is lost on me. Surely it's economical to wash together & help each other. She sounds like hard work

I do everyone's washing -if it's in the washing bin it gets chucked in, I don't examine each thing to ascertain who it belongs to. If I'm out, DH will put a load on for the household too. I do most of the washing because I am home more often and it needs doing.

Mine and dh's washing is in the washing basket together so to avoid doing his I would need to separate it out which would be stupid and more time consuming. If there is space I will also add some clothes from Dd/ds's washing baskets so there may be 4 peoples washing in the machine at once Shock

God no, your friend is being ridiculous. I do everyone's washing (me, DD, DH). It would be a pain in the arse to separate it. He does it from time to time too but generally that's one of my 'jobs'.

DH does all the cooking and the majority of the cleaning. I do some small day-to-day cleaning jobs, changing sheets, towels etc. and all the grocery shopping, childcare drop-offs and pick ups. I think I have the sweeter end of the deal to be honest!

I do all of the family washing in this house and I like it that way.

Why separate it all out individually? That makes no sense to me.

We both do each others washing...whoever is putting the load on collects all the darks or all the lights, regardless of who owns them, and puts them in! Obviously if it a special wash for something delicate, then no, but in general that's how we do it!

So does your friend have separate his and hers laundry baskets OP? We wouldn't have space! When laundry needs doing, one of us does it...
