Those krafty bastards! The taste has changed!!! You knew it MN. My partner is so not interested in this shocking development that I had to come and talk about it here. I knew my childhood memories had not been created.

So AIBU or have they really ruined it?

And don't get me started on the apple crunch....

Cadburys have also ruined their TimeOut bars.
They've recently changed them to be like Blue Ribbands.

LunaLunaLovegood · 16/03/2016 22:43

I knew it! We tend to go for Mr Choc, Aldi , Sainsburys own or Lindt now.

Except I've given it up for Lent. Aarrrgghhh roll on Easter!!

afussyphase · 16/03/2016 22:44

My question is: why's Cadbury not on this thread to hear our opinions ( and then respect them and make good chocolate for us)? Come on Cadbury! Maybe they are too big for all that - but there are millions of mn'ers .. surely they could spare us one customer service rep?!

afussyphase · 16/03/2016 22:45

maybe one of you high-tech folks with one of them twitter accounts could tweet at them ...

SohowdoIdothis · 16/03/2016 22:46

Hopefully some bright spark will start a company making original chocolate sweets , and they will make a fortune , mainly from me.

hiddenhome2 · 16/03/2016 22:48

Greasy, nausea inducing, oily, disgusting mess.

It's put me off chocolate for life. They're not the only manufacturer to use palm oil. Lindt do as well now as well as others.

Horrible.

PastaLaFeasta · 16/03/2016 22:50

Waxy and tasteless is right, soooo disappointing and I won't be buying again. But why the surprise, just like the plastic fake cheese slices.

iwuddarryl · 16/03/2016 22:51

Why are they putting Palm oil in chocolate? What are they replacing?

NotNob · 16/03/2016 22:51

I've tried to notice the difference but, alas, I can still happily neck a family size bar of Dairy Milk in one sitting.

HelenaDove · 16/03/2016 22:51

Last Easter i had a Galaxy Salted Caramel and that was lovely. Im also on SW so have only tried it that one time.

Agree about Cadburys.......threw most of a box of Milk Tray out at Valentines last year They were vile.

IamPoopyHead · 16/03/2016 22:53

I know in the grand scheme of things it's "only chocolate" but it's so bloody disappointing, and a bit sad really.
I used to love a bar of dairy milk as a treat but it's just not the same at all and leaves my mouth all claggy (for want of a better word). It tastes like crap.

HelenaDove · 16/03/2016 22:58

Loads of us on here reminiscing about the chocolates of yesteryear.

hiddenhome2 · 16/03/2016 22:59

It's added to chocolate to make it 'smooth, creamy and stop it from melting' apparently Hmm

It's a big old heap of vomitus, but they won't listen. It's cheap as well.

rosieliveson1 · 16/03/2016 23:02

I think the palm oil replaces the 'glass and a half' that used to make cadburys so delicious!!

Sallyingforth · 16/03/2016 23:02

My question is: why's Cadbury not on this thread to hear our opinions

'Cadbury' is now just a brand of a vast multinational company. They will push whatever muck they can get away with. Their answer to criticism on MN is to pay for sponsored threads and give away samples.

hiddenhome2 · 16/03/2016 23:04

Yes, vegetable (palm) oil instead of milk fat.

Sallyingforth · 16/03/2016 23:06

Some of the Cadbury chocolate actually has three different types of oil in the ingredients list on the wrapper.
It's the oil that stays in the mouth and leaves the vomity aftertaste.

scarednoob · 16/03/2016 23:08

And what was that bollocks about rounding the corners "to improve the mouth feel of the chocolate"? You utter twats, what happened to "if it ain't broke, don't try to improve it".

My guess is that they get away with flogging a smaller bar with the rounded corners? I got given a box of miniature heroes recently (1 wispa, 12 crappy fake creme egg twisted things... Hmm ...) and the caramels were sodding round.

It's like buying a beautiful vintage car and crashing it on purpose. Idiots.

FreakinScaryCaaw · 16/03/2016 23:09

Ewww creme eggs are even sweeter now.

They've killed Cadburys. 💸🙅

antiqueroadhoe · 16/03/2016 23:17

Utter travesty. Cadbury's chocolate is like biting into a chocolate flavoured lump of hardened fat.

I don't like the rounded edges either.

(Twirl is nice though- seems richer and creamier...?)

hefzi · 16/03/2016 23:22

The French block foreign takeovers of their national treasures: surely the government could have protected Cadbury's?! On a positive note, however, my waistline has benefited enormously from Kraft's changes to the recipe Grin

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 16/03/2016 23:27

Twirl is nice though- seems richer and creamier...?

You're undoubtedly comparing it to the regular Crapburys stuff. Which makes most things taste acceptable.

EleanorofProvence · 16/03/2016 23:28

Yum!

Dispatches investigates.... Cadburys!!
Crazypetlady · 17/03/2016 00:20

I eat too much chocolate but now apart from wispa and I haven't had one in months I won't touch cadburys the caramel in the bars tastes disgusting now.
