Those krafty bastards! The taste has changed!!! You knew it MN. My partner is so not interested in this shocking development that I had to come and talk about it here. I knew my childhood memories had not been created.

So AIBU or have they really ruined it?

And don't get me started on the apple crunch....

It tastes like the old Cadburys, but digested and vomited up by a cat.

whatdoIget · 17/03/2016 23:22

I've just been reading the review thread for decorating Easter eggs and they don't seem to have gone down particularly well.

Sallyingforth · 18/03/2016 10:26

I've just had a scan through some of that thread. As someone suggested, that white splatter does look rather like the result of a hand job. :(

It's interesting that mondelez are sending out free chocolate, and offering money for a favourable review. They really sound desperate to push their American style 'Cadbury' chocolate.

MiscellaneousAssortment · 18/03/2016 15:11

It's so sad the brand was quintessentially British with good values and good chocolate.

I've realized I'm eating more chocolate to try and get the same hit and satisfaction that used to be in every bite.

I shall decamp to supermarket own brand instead of making myself ever fatter!

I can't get to Lidl or Aldi, any recommendations for sainsburys? Neeeeeeed good chocolate :)

OurBlanche · 18/03/2016 15:54

I had a Galaxy yesterday... is it me or does that taste different too? A bit more of a coconut backtaste? I hate coconut in chocolate so may be a tad sensitive. But I don't remember Galaxy having it before... I admit it has been quite some time (years) since I last bought any.

Maybe I shall have to start looking for chocolate that definitely does NOT have any palm oil or fat in it!

thelonelyhamster · 18/03/2016 16:04

The tesco near me has started stocking Mackies chocolate... and I like their icecream so thought I'd give their chocolate a go. It's not too bad, doesn't contain palm oil and buying it supports a british business.
Worth a try for all the other cadbury haters who don't like the new taste!

BolshierAryaStark · 18/03/2016 16:05

Meh, it might be different but I still like it-as for mini eggs being shite now I can categorically state this is utter bollocks, I am an eggspert, sorry Blush in this particular field. Cream eggs on the other hand have always been cak.
I do take exception to the very obvious shrinkage in the products though.

LordTrash · 18/03/2016 16:17

Whataload, I had my first Toblerone in ages the other week - they were flogging giant ones in Poundland - and I was really disappointed. It wasn't at all how I remembered it.

I think they've done something to the recipe, not sure what though.

I'm another former mini egg devotee who can't go near them now. Very sad.

YoungGirlGrowingOld · 18/03/2016 16:17

It tastes like the old Cadburys, but digested and vomited up by a cat.

My thoughts exactly. Thanks to MN I think "walrus cock" every time I see the C word in the supermarket. And I would like to take one of those "Marvellous Creations" and shove it up the arse of Mondelez's CEO sideways. They are a fucking crime against confectionery.

Is Mars safe or are they lubeing with palm oil and related slime too?

GingerIvy · 18/03/2016 16:22

We won't buy Cadbury chocolate anymore. It's awful. We bought Lindt chocolate for Easter.

BeyondTheSea · 18/03/2016 17:16

We just to bulk buy creme eggs to last the year Blush

We have contributed a lot to the 6million deficit.

SummerHouse · 18/03/2016 18:32

The paper sleeve... The shiny deep purple foil... which you could press your thumb over to see the beautiful italic promise of Cadburys ....

[Howls]

[Drops to knees]

[Shakes fist at sky]

Why would you take this away?

MustBeThin · 18/03/2016 18:47

I noticed ages ago that the Creme Eggs tasted horrid, people kept telling me I was imagining it. Angry The eggs taste like liquid icing that goes on birthday cakes. I bought a tin of roses at Christmas and they tasted crap too and most of them seem to be some sort of fudge texture. Loads of people have been complaining on their FB page. Almost all of the chocolate bars I eat (well not at the min because I'm on a diet) are Cadburys too but doubt I'll buy it anymore. Sad Can anyone remember those Cadburys Spira and Marble chocolate bars? God I used to love those so much. 😭

HelenaDove · 18/03/2016 18:53

Lord Trash ive seen Smarties Mini Eggs in supermarkets Perhaps try those?

HelenaDove · 18/03/2016 18:55

I liked the Cadburys Puds that were out in the mid "90s.

RedOnHerHedd · 18/03/2016 19:08

Their profits MUST have been affected, because I haven't bought any in ages, and I used to spend a small large fortune on it!

It's VILE!

I remember my first time in America and was so excited to try a Baby Ruth Bar (Goonies) and it tasted shit! I was so disappointed, and now Cadburys tastes like that.

My trade has all gone to Galaxy now. And I never thought I'd ever switch sides.

MustBeThin · 18/03/2016 19:22

I went to one of those American sweet shops that had opened in my city centre a few years ago and spent a small fortune on a big bar of Hersheys, I couldn't wait to get home to try it I thought it was going to be amazing. That night I settled down to watch a good programme with the OH and my chocolate, bit into it and gagged it was disgusting Shock I couldn't understand why it tasted so bad I checked the date and everything. Even OH couldn't eat it and he eats all chocolate.

1lov3comps · 18/03/2016 19:24

Does anyone know if they only changed the recipe in the uk? I'm in Ireland and an avid chocolate eater and haven't noticed any difference?

BettyBusStop · 18/03/2016 19:24

I've set it to record.

I haven't had a cream egg since 2014. I reckon I used to eat least one three a day from Christmas to Easter.

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 18/03/2016 20:09

Kraft can fuck the fuck off and then fuck off some more - seriously, stopping the annual Xmas gift of chocolate to pensioners that used to work for Cadbury? What a bunch of arseholes. And closing a factory down after promising they wouldn't as part of the deal? Tossers.

And their chocolate tastes like the semen of beelzebub.

CuppaTeaAndAJammieDodger · 18/03/2016 20:11

I used to mainline creme eggs - there's currently a recipe video on buzzfeed for a chocolate creme egg bundt cake, something that would have once induced a near orgasmic response, but just though "meh"

HopIt · 18/03/2016 20:22

Apparently twirl is still made in Ireland and that's why it tastes ok 1love3

lord trash I bought some m and s mini eggs after seeing a recommendation on another thread. Really really good

EverySongbirdSays · 18/03/2016 21:16

I'm eating Mini Eggs as I type - first bag in years, used to be addicted to them. They taste metallic!!!! (I'm still eating them) but they are shit.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 18/03/2016 21:49

I can't get to Lidl or Aldi, any recommendations for sainsburys?
Sainsbury's own milk chocolate is nice I think. No veg/palm oil and tastes how chocolate should.

Loads of people have been complaining on their FB page.
Oh wow, yes! I've just had a look and they're getting hammered Grin Serves them right.

Doobydoo · 18/03/2016 22:17

[Grin]SaucyJack. The Creme eggs are shite.I went to cadbury world 10 years ago and was brill. Wouldnt go now. No cadbury products for us
