Has anyone watched this?

basically it goes - Morning! here's some BASSSETT'S MULTI VITAMINS.... look how my children never squabble. They play nicely and share with each other and other kids. They don't smoosh chocolate cake all over their pretty dresses. We all go for wholesome walks by the river without getting a spot of mud on us. And look, they go to bed without a fuss too (after arriving home at approximately 7.02pm Grin)

Now, who recognises that as a typical day with two under fours???

after watching bassetts advertorial, i decided to look at her videos and ended up watching almost half of them. a bit Blush really but my dh works evenings.

she does show some down moments and her videos do show the babies grumpy and crying etc. but really, who would want to watch grim, messy faced kids on you tube?

The only vlog i didnt like was the holiday one, too perfect and too edited.

I actually more motivated after watching this lady!

00100001 · 25/11/2015 19:19

Wait.. there was a BASSETS MULTI VITAMINS advert in that video??

no wayyy

Remember she is a person! Maybe she gets stuff done because she doesn't waste all her energy being vile about people on the Internet?

00100001 · 07/12/2015 11:20

Who was being vile?? Confused

Disappointed at this thread. Parenting is incredibly hard for everyone - shame we can't help each other rather than knock each other down. Leaving the Mumsnet community, not going to be associated with women who want to knock other women down.

SummerNights1986 · 07/12/2015 11:26

Bleughh.

I skipped through the video before I vommed.

It's similar to my video montages that I've done (just for us) of us and the dc - just without the talky bits.

Over two days, I film the dc sitting and playing games, eating, joking, laughing, going on outings and activities, in the bath, going to bed. The lovely memories bits - it's nice to keep.

I don't film ds1's 7-year-old-going-on-15 cheek or ds2 racing around like a nutter and smashing my favourite mug or pissed beds or illnesses or me being tired and grumpy or cleaning up smushed banana or wiping bums after the 2 year old thought they'd have a go and smeared shit all over the walls.

Or doing the 'dirty' housework like scrubbing the bog or tears or tantrums or the days where they watch a little too much TV and I do a little too much mnetting to be acceptable in most peoples eyes.

Or the school rush and shouting at ds1 to hurry the heck up because if I have to tell him to brush his teeth one more time there Will Be Consequences.

'Day in the Life' my arse.

your flouncing cuz of this thread?!

and no-one was knocking the actual mother.. Confused

We're just saying that the video isn't "A day in the life of..." it's a highly edited "best bits" video, masquerading as a 'blog' when in fact it's an incredibly unsubtle advert for Bassett's Multivitamins.

There really is people genuinely like her. I have only just went and quickly scanned through her page after seeing this I don't honestly see why anyone is so irritated by her. I know women, one in particular has six girls, who's children rarely fight (Mrs meldrums are still very little anyway) always look spotless, the mum looks gorgeous always, hours is spotless.

Some people are just super organised and like that. I don't think it's a slight on anyone else. I think also she looks pretty young so is probably full of energy and cab easily go out till 3am and be fine the next day to have a family day, I can do the same if I watch my alcohol intake. Althoigh I do wish I was as organised as she is.

Megzeo · 07/12/2015 11:39

What a negative thing to say.

If you don't like Mrs Meldrum vlogs, then don't watch them - It's that simple.
For you to give this mum a hard time is totally out of order.

Her reality looks wonderful and she admits how lucky she is. Just because her reality - the angelic kids and the tidy house - is better than some of ours, my own included, that doesn't give you the right to criticise.

As woman and mothers we should be encouraging each other and saying well done, there should be no jealousy and negativity.

I love watching these videos for the insight into her life, the hunky husband and the beautiful kids. The product reviews are helpful too.

I hope Mrs Meldrum keeps doing what she is doing and as long as people watch it she is doing great.

00100001 · 07/12/2015 11:41

No-one is giving the Mum a hard time ... pconfused]

We're giving the oh-so-subtle BASSET'S MULTIVITAMINS ADVERT a hard time.

The implication is, give your child these vitamins, and life will be marvellous.

" no-one would want to watch a video of me shouting at the kids whilst banging my head on the washing machine with egg on my jumper."

Actually I would, it sounds like comedy gold, with more than a few echoes of

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 07/12/2015 11:53

ah just cried at her birth video!

that's enough for me and Mrs M now!!

Notimeforidiots · 07/12/2015 12:29

Bullying has no place here. You're being trolls. Her video isn't supposed to be subtle about bassets vitamins. It says clearly that she's being sponsored. Do you write in to every advert that shows false advertising? This girl isn't a big company she's doing this to achieve something for her family. So when you aim your nastiness it goes to her and not her pa.

iPaid · 07/12/2015 12:46

I don't know why anyone would want this kind of exposure for their family.

Does anyone on here watch TV? Shows about fictional characters? Or shows about real people? Reality TV? Chat shows? You obviously all participate in forums where people 'talk' about everyday stuff. So is it really so unbelievable that people would want to watch vlogs from other mums about parenting/shopping/reviews/everyday life?

I've watched Mrs meldrums videos for a while now. She seems genuine to me, Yes there are videos where things seem picture perfect, but there are also others which show tears and teething and sleepless nights and messy houses. One video won't encompass their whole life.
My house is definitely not as tidy as hers and I am not as well presented. But it doesn't make me think she's lying or being fake. I think she's lucky to have two genuinely good kids. My daughter seems fairly similar to her eldest. But my son is a whirlwind of action and since he could move our house is a disaster zone and I don't have the time to get ready like I used to. But that just means my life is different to hers.

And honestly in all the videos I've watched of hers I've only seen her go out a handful of times on an evening. She spends half of the year at home with just her and her kids as her husband works off shore. So she's definitely entitled to a night out once and a while. But then she doesn't give herself the luxury of laying in bed with a hangover the next day.

Mrs meldrum seems to be a happy, positive person and watching her videos definitely inspires me.

I know none of this will make a difference to you ladies. You've decided her videos are unrealistic as they don't match your lives perfectly. But I can't stand by and hear someone bad mouthed when they don't deserve it, so I had to say something.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 07/12/2015 13:13

hello to all of Mrs Meldrums mates who have very quickly joined MN to defend her Grin

FYI- no one is slagging her off!

they are just saying that the ADVERT is a bit not-to-their-taste, we can criticise adverts cant we? especially ones that peddle drugs? to babies....

UterusUterusGhali · 07/12/2015 13:19

Can't tell if they're mates or sock puppets. 😑

00100001 · 07/12/2015 13:33

No-one is being horrible... Please point out the nastiness aimed towards the actual woman? Confused
