Well, I did start a thread about this recently, but it is full of discussion about terrorists, and events in other countries......

Just talking about this country, the UK, and Muslim and non Muslim British people, lets just look after each other, and stand up for each other against intolerance and racism, and be friends!

Lovely sentiment OP but the world is full of people with different ideas and as much as I want what you have said the realist in me knows it isn't possible.

Not a fan of religion that discriminates against women. so can't agree with you at all. Let's stand up to misogeny rather than " be friends " with it.

I fear tolerance, in general, is fading fast.

Why tolerate Discrimination against women? Why is there a desire for toleranc over standing up for women's rights. Why appease?

YANBU but it will go the same way sadly - full of people demanding Muslims stand up (ignoring when they do and are) and banging on about Islam being anti women (it isn't - the Koran is not anti women - some Muslims men and states are - a bit like in other non Muslim countries)

This is always worth a view though - if people can be bothered to watch it

2: sexual orientation - 4,300 per year
3: disability - 1,800 per year
4: religion (all religions) - 1,600 per year

And if you look at the types of offence, the homophobic crimes disproportionately involve violence.

And not only that, if you ignore the much bigger issue of race, you ignore all the homosexuals and bisexuals being attacked, you ignore the disabled being tortured and abused, even within the category of religious hate crimes, the fact is that Jews are SIX TIMES more likely to be the subject of a religious hate crime than Muslims.

So why do we always hear about Islamophobia?

For me the subtext to this 'let's talk about Islamophobia' is 'people are Islamophobic, and this is why X', where X is some evil deed committed in the name of Islam (terrorist attacks, etc.).
