Bit of a weird one I know, But this is AIBU and I see weird sh*t here all the time so I'm sure none of you will choke on your pearls! Anyhow...
DP has always expressed a preference for me being shaven down there. Fairenough, we all have our preferences. I'm currently pregnant and due to feeling like death I dont feel like doing shower aerobics to get every last bit of hair.... We've still been having sex pretty regularly, every 1-2 days. However now DP has decided that he'd rather not have sex with me until I shave again... because it "feels and looks weird" like your penis maybe? WIBU to never shave again?

My dp said I resemble something out of a 70's porno! I don't care. It's such an effort and I can't stand the itching and regrowth.
He said he's going to need a map soon to find the way-cheeky bugger:)

Listening to younger colleagues a few weeks ago and one lad said he" wouldn't go near anyone with a Bush, no matter how fit"
Was asked if he shaved, said no, talk about double standards...

butterfly2015 · 02/04/2015 19:35

It's quite a high maintenance job and to be fair, I just couldn't be arsed with that all the time. I do a fair bit of pruning in the summer but leave a landing strip. If I was pregnant? Not a chance.

Fairylea · 02/04/2015 19:37

I'm not sure why people seem to find it really itchy to shave it all off. I've been shaving it all off for about ten years now (I'm 35) and it never bothers me at all. I use a Wilkinson swivel head 3 blade womens razor and sensitive shaving foam and shave every other day so I never get any regrowth at all and it never bothers me in the slightest.

I can't imagine being hairy down there again now after so many years of being hair free (I love the fact my sanitary towels never stick to anything other than my pants for one thing!) but we're all different aren't we :)

dementedpixie · 02/04/2015 19:43

I only shave legs and pits once a week so no way would I shave something that needed doing every couple of days. I trim every so often but have never taken it all off

dementedpixie · 02/04/2015 19:44

how do you do the inner side bits and the butt crack without cutting yourself?

Fairylea · 02/04/2015 20:06

Demented - it's just practice! I can't say I've ever cut myself. You do have to do some crazy yoga type moves in the shower though! Grin I don't think I'll still be doing it that way when I'm 80, I might get stuck.

teawamutu · 02/04/2015 20:07

Wow. I am clearly ancient. Legs and pits yes, but fanjo is As Nature Intended and I hadn't realised how criminally behind the times I am. Have I the fanjo equivalent of a blue rinse?

YouFargingIceHole · 02/04/2015 20:42

I haven't shaved any of my body since September. I have never been a foof shaver to be fair, just a quick swipe down the inside thighs if going on holiday. Everyone to their own but I highly recommend going eastern bloc on the hair removal front, I'm finding it very liberating. [grin

YouFargingIceHole · 02/04/2015 20:43

Grin trying my grin again..

Gooddaysunshine · 02/04/2015 21:07

I read somewhere that 70's muffs are making a comeback in hipster circles as a fashion statement Easter Grin

I've always trimmed and tidied up the sides but didn't bother when pregnant.... It was a faff to even shave my legs tbh!

DisappointedOne · 02/04/2015 21:10

Had mine lazered off years ago.

ovumahead · 02/04/2015 21:24

I thought we'd evolved to have pubes for a reason, but can't remember it now. I just trim and shave the thigh burns off on special occasions. Dh would prefer something more.... I want to say something more infantile but that's opening up a can of worms. Oops I did say it. Sorry. Each to their own and all that! Hoho. Back to the OP my advice would be just so whatever the hell you want, it's your body. Sounds like you gave already! :-)

Not pregnant, so I clearly have no excuse for not shaving aside from the fact that I get hideous ingrown hairs no matter how much maintenance I do. It's liberating to not give a fuck.

Grossed about by your DH's comments regarding it looking weird though. It's fucking natural to have pubes, it's weird that we wax and shave and rub chemicals that smell like burning on our bodies for the sake of vanity. Jeezy chreezy.

NobbyNobs · 02/04/2015 22:59

Don't apologise Ovum , it's not my husband you suggest likes to fuck a fanny like a childs.

I'm a yeti at the moment, DH does not comment. I will probably do some shaving at some point, DH will not comment. He's not daft my husband.

Although having had children and carrying another it'll take more than a razor to make my fanny look like it hasn't lived a few years more than I have.

prawnballs · 02/04/2015 23:02

My Dh wouldn't care what it looked like - think he's just happy to see it Grin
I do prefer to shave though but through my pregnancies I couldn't even see it so it was very much 'out of sight, out of mind'.

987flowers · 02/04/2015 23:04

My dh gets a well trimmed foof on the occasions I have to show it to a member of the health profession and I've sorted it out! I am thankful I am not out there now as a 20yr old with the additional pressure of making sure my fanny hair is correct!

IceBeing · 03/04/2015 02:22

Would definitely worry about any partner caring enough about a single element of appearance to be completely turned off me.

But then Id worry about an adult man expressing a preference for the prepubescent/no hair look on a fanjo regardless.

Well - Id worry about a society that generates such men more than I worry about the actual men....

HellBoundNothingFound · 03/04/2015 02:27

DH is lucky enough if I even bother to notice. He has no preference (we are pretty open about such things), if I want to, I do, if I don't, then so be it

Your body, your rules

YaMasYaDaWithAWigOn · 03/04/2015 02:33

I'm quite lucky in that I'm not particularly hirsute, one of my armpits is really sparse whereas the other has more 'normal' growth. When DP and I first got together, he was convinced I was just shaving one side Hmm
I've never really thought much about 'down there' other than making sure there's no spider legs poking out my swimming costume.

alrayyan · 03/04/2015 05:01

Bingo! One poster who jumps into every shaving thread with the paedophile accusations. I saw the thread title and bet with myself that person would be in early on and yay I was right.

Some people's lives must be so empty that they become obsessed with cyber pubes. The paedophile suggestions are vile and show what a sad mess some people are.

lostinegypt · 03/04/2015 05:13

my husband prefers a bit of a bush. He hates it overly trimmed/ shaved. He wouldn't go near me with it all off. He thinks women should have hair.

alrayyan · 03/04/2015 05:37

But bragging about husbands liking hair is just the same as saying he likes shaved isn't it? unless husbands really are paedos it's about men choosing how women groom rather than whether they shave or not?

FanFuckingTastic · 03/04/2015 05:52

Hair is a normal thing to have there, anyone who doesn't like hair down there is a bit strange given how it is biologically natural. I can understand having a preference maybe, but an active dislike is an issue to me because I wouldn't be a certain way to please anyone except myself when it comes to body hair, especially since it's not usually something I find reciprocated.

alrayyan · 03/04/2015 06:03

That goes without saying.
However saying he wouldn't go near me if I did something to my own body in a certain way is ridiculous.

This subject attracts all the loons.
