To think you get "a side" in bed and that's that? There's no changing?

DH thinks that you can opt for either side.

Who is being unreasonable?

What, change each night? Where do all your mobile phone chargers. Vaseline, penis beakers and water bottles do- move with you?

FunkyBoldRibena · 17/09/2014 23:01

We change regularly. Esp when on holiday.

MrsBungle · 17/09/2014 23:02

Well. Dh and I have a 'side' in our own bed but that side may change in another bed eg a hotel. I need to be nearest the window. Dh hates how I swap sides in other places. I don't think it should just be a free for all in your own bed each night though!

Minikievs · 17/09/2014 23:04

In your own bed or in any bed?

We have our own side of our bed at home (except he rolls onto my side when I get out and puts his sweaty man-head on my pillow. Hate that.) But when we are away then we just pick a side of the hotel bed to sleep on. We stick to that side for the holiday but it doesn't matter which side it is. Eg this year our youngest was in a cot in our room on hols so my side was the side nearest the cot. Wouldn't have bothered me which side that it was.

So home YANBU but away YABU

Haha!

This is so funny I was thinking about this last night in bed when I couldn't sleep.

I have always had the left (even before dh) Iv never really chosen it, it just is where Iv always gravitated to.

So in my opinion unless there is a really good reason to want to change then no each of you have your own side and you stick to it! Smile

What I mean by that is if one would like to discuss a change of sides ok but I'd be pretty annoyed if I came though and someone (dh) was in my side of the bed.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 17/09/2014 23:05

I don't care, I pick the side nearest the door. Freud would have a lot to say about me, no doubt.

SantanaLopez · 17/09/2014 23:05

I can opt for either side currently because I am pregnant and have a special excuse. Otherwise- no changes allowed Grin

londonrach · 17/09/2014 23:07

At home we got our own sides. On holiday i get the furthest from the door as i need him to protect me. He knows that!

ScrambledeggLDCcakeBOAK · 17/09/2014 23:07

I agree with others though in that away from home I wouldn't just take a side before we'd agreed. (Although I always for no reason I can fathom end up wanting the left)

Alisvolatpropiis · 17/09/2014 23:07

Luis I do the opposite and always pick the side furthest from the door! Also when sitting in restaurants, I'm not happy unless I'm sitting with my back to a wall. It drives my DH mad.

OP - Your dh is wrong. There is no swapping sides!

Kbear · 17/09/2014 23:07

I am furthest from door on the left of the bed. Made no sense when the kids were babies and I was leaping up to feed them but it's just my side. On holiday the left is still my side.

There are rules about these things.

Scrumbled · 17/09/2014 23:08

He's clearly unreasonable.

AlleyCat11 · 17/09/2014 23:08

Sweaty man-head. Har! I have one of those. Not mine, like.

The man is supposed to sleep nearest the door to protect the woman? I have to be nearest the window.

Sarsaparillajones · 17/09/2014 23:09

We both have a side - the problem is it's the same one Smile

Over the years DH has proved more persistent than me in staking his claim.

SquirrelWearingATrilby · 17/09/2014 23:09

My side is the side furthest from the door.
OH can have the 6 inches each side that I permit him.
I am very territorial in my sleep.

maras2 · 17/09/2014 23:09

Sometimes, post coital one or both of us flops to where ever we fall. But for actually sleeping,my side's mine and his side's his. It's worked for us for 45 years. Grin

justmuddlingalong · 17/09/2014 23:11

I sleep in the middle, starfish like. So Dp can sleep on whichever side he chooses, clinging onto the edge of the mattress.

AlleyCat11 · 17/09/2014 23:12

Alis, the restaurant thing drives my guy mad too! I can't be opposite a mirrored wall, too near the door or close to the speakers...

BackforGood · 17/09/2014 23:14

At home, definitely your own side and stick with it.
On holiday we 'live on the edge' and sometimes take the other side (but obv stay on that side then the whole time we are in that holiday place Wink )

maras2 · 17/09/2014 23:15

just Me too. {grin}

Cluelessat30 · 17/09/2014 23:15

I made my DH swap with me as we both wanted the same side, but it came out that he can sleep either side, just has a 'furthest from the door' thing too. Ha.

enriquetheringbearinglizard · 17/09/2014 23:15

YANBU.
Before we lived together I fondly imagined we'd sleep where we fell and that we'd never sit in the same chair, or the same place on the sofa. Hah. Well that didn't happen.

We have our own side of the bed so our stuff's on the right bedside table. When we sleep away from home we never discuss it, but I always sleep nearest the window, which is inevitably furthest away from the door. If the window reference doesn't work, I still seem to sleep furthest away from the door and always have whichever side of DH that happens to be.

I can only think of one night in all our years together that the formula didn't happen.

LEMmingaround · 17/09/2014 23:16

THERE IS NO SIDE SWAPPING that is all!

maras2 · 17/09/2014 23:16

bugger I meant Grin

ashtrayheart · 17/09/2014 23:18

On holiday I opt for the side furthest away from the kids Wink
