To think you get "a side" in bed and that's that? There's no changing?

DH thinks that you can opt for either side.

Who is being unreasonable?

Always sleep on the left side. DP is right-handed!

Pooseyfrumpture · 18/09/2014 13:18

BabyMarmoset
I'd sooner swap husband than swap sides.
Some things are sacred.

Indeed.

CheeseToastie123 · 18/09/2014 13:18

One side at my house, other at his, hotels vary. But no swapping about in one bed. That is lunacy and no good can come of it.

prettygirlincrimsonrose · 18/09/2014 13:19

We have sides and tend to keep them on holidays etc, but when he's working nights I do like sleeping on his side

CocktailQueen · 18/09/2014 13:20

YABU! We have one side each at home but in hotels, holiday cottages etc. then I choose which side I like, and it's not always the same one as at home. I like to be close to the door/the kids.

PlantsAndFlowers · 18/09/2014 13:21

Swapping in the same bed. He is crazy. YANBU.

NotYouNaanBread · 18/09/2014 13:22

DH pointed out last that in the 10 years we have known each other I have always slept on the same side, no matter where we were living. So I have pointedly switched sides with him now. I'm not overjoyed about having the wrong bedside table though.

PlantsAndFlowers · 18/09/2014 13:22

Sallyingforth me too Grin.

MrsCurrent · 18/09/2014 13:22

Dh has 1ft down the left, I have the rest.

NotYouNaanBread · 18/09/2014 13:22

last week, sorry.

r2d2ismyidealman · 18/09/2014 13:26

I like to move around. I don't get to in bed , we each have a side, but the living room is a free for all. I honestly think I'd sleep better if i was allowed to move!

Mamadothehump · 18/09/2014 13:28

I always sleep nearest the door despite which side that may be as it's generally me who sees to the kids (if needed) in the night.

JustAShopGirl · 18/09/2014 13:32

ewwwwwww - no no swapping - remember the "poo-crumbs" thread!!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 18/09/2014 13:32

We've swapped sides when moving house but once a side is allocated, we don't change at home. I would find that weird. Plus I have lots of stuff in or on my bedside table (or on the floor) all set up the way I like.

I always give DH the choice of sides of beds or seats in restaurants because he has this hypervigilance / PTSD thing going on and for example he really cannot be sitting with his back to a room full of people. I don't mind which side I am on or where I sit and for him it is a mental health issue!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 18/09/2014 13:33

DH also always sits in the same place in the living room. That is just because he is lazy and entitled though (best seat, best view of TV etc), not anything to do with his PTSD Grin

ToniWol · 18/09/2014 14:02

We've always slept the same way on - although visiting friends in a couple of weeks and thinking of suggesting we swap for that as the spare bed is against a wall and at 34wks pregnant I suspect being near the wall won't be ideal for me...

Fatmanbuttsam · 18/09/2014 14:04

Your dh is bu...a side is a side is a side.....I have nightmares and am so restless if I sleep on the 'wrong' side of the bed......had to do that for a couple of nights with a broken wrist and it was all wrong

PiperIsOrange · 18/09/2014 14:09

At home I have to be by the door, not changes aload

DoJo · 18/09/2014 16:36

NameChangerNewDanger

I'm glad you lowered the tone - all this talk of who side the door is made me wonder if our purely nooky-based arrangement was terribly improper!

I sleep on my side at home, on holiday, in a tent and even when we used to sleep in the car quite a lot because that's MY side. Any change to this and you will be made aware of it by news of the impending apocalypse...

DoJo · 18/09/2014 16:36

*which side the door is - clearly I was overwrought just thinking about this!

Kendodd · 18/09/2014 16:41

We just get in either side, always have done.

puntasticusername · 18/09/2014 16:53

I sleep left hand side, and he sleeps right hand side. Because I am left handed, and he is right handed.

The end.

EleanorAbernathy · 18/09/2014 16:58

I always have to have the side nearest the door for a quick escape!

As for restaurants, sitting on the sofa etc, I always sit to DP's left as he's a bit deaf in his right ear. I'm a bit blind in my right eye so I know that if I can't see him properly then he can hear me! Grin

SmiteYouWithThunderbolts · 18/09/2014 17:00

What? What is this madness? No swapping. Ever. My side is just that: mine.

RedRideMeGood · 18/09/2014 17:12

Ours changes depending on where we are. I look at a bed and instantly know which side is going to feel right.

At mine I'm on the left because the bed is against the wall so he has the door and window side.

At his I have the left because it's against the wall but that also means I have the door and he has the window.

When we go away I always sleep on the right which has meant I've always slept on the side nearest the door and bathroom even though he is one who will get up in the night.

Interesting how the only place he sleeps door side protecting me is in my own house Hmm but that also means my DS dives on him first when he comes in on a morning Grin
