To think you get "a side" in bed and that's that? There's no changing?

DH thinks that you can opt for either side.

Who is being unreasonable?

OP posts:
NetballHoop · 17/09/2014 23:18

Me on the left, him on the right. When DCs were tiny, that meant they were always in the cot next to him. Grin

Sparklypants · 17/09/2014 23:19

He is being V unreasonable!

My advise for if he tries to nab your side, LTB!

Rules is rules!

SquirrelWearingATrilby · 17/09/2014 23:22

I hate it when I get up for a wee and he turns over in his sleep, grabs the duvet and then slobbers on my pillow. Yuk.

No wonder we're always washing pillowcases.

Lally112 · 17/09/2014 23:22

we change depending on who is getting up first, whoevers getting up first sleeps on the side where the alarm clock is and resets it for the the time the other needs before they leave.

lougle · 17/09/2014 23:23

What a strange manConfused.

Cinnamon73 · 17/09/2014 23:25

No side swapping. But then we have a continental bed with 2 separate mattresses, and I won't sleep on his
For any action he has to come over to my side.

WilburIsSomePig · 17/09/2014 23:26

DH always says that wherever we are I need to sleep nearest the door. So that if mad axeman appears in our room they'll get me first and he has time to escape.

crje · 17/09/2014 23:27

We can happily sleep on either.
No set sides here.

YANBU he can't just change the rules

CalamitouslyWrong · 17/09/2014 23:31

We have 'sides' at home and generally take them elsewhere too. Unless the bed is against a wall on one side. Then I get the wall side regardless whose side it actually should be. DH hates the wall side, but I quite like it.

However DH seems to feel entitled to swap the pillows around whenever he feels like it. He decides that the arrangement he's been using isn't good enough so he swaps for one (or both) of mine. It makes my blood boil. (None of our pillows is identical, so it makes a difference to your sleeping position and I don't like being forced to readjust on DH's whims).

HauntedNoddyCar · 17/09/2014 23:31

Good Lord. No. No swapping. At home or abroad. We like to know where the other is and if we swapped sides dh might get a slap in the face instead of my snooze button being smacked.

We sit on the same side of the sofa as we sleep on in bed.

CalamitouslyWrong · 17/09/2014 23:33

We sit on opposite sides of the sofa to our sides of the bed in this house. DH keeps trying to steal my sued because he thinks it has a better angle on the tv.

Fluffyears · 17/09/2014 23:34

At home I sleep on left. Dp tends to always sleep nearest to door and me nearest window, so on holiday I was on right. Don't like that as think I'll fall out as I know rolling to the right is fine normally.

Floggingmolly · 17/09/2014 23:34

I like to be facing outwards, so would choose a side according to whether I want to sleep on my right or left side iykwim. Dh will have none of it, the right side is his, even if I'm already in it...

DustyCropHopper · 17/09/2014 23:37

We have our own side at home. When we are away I tend to have whichever side is closer/easier to get out to the children if needed.

CalamitouslyWrong · 17/09/2014 23:37

You are unreasonable Molly. You can't go deciding which side to sleep on based on the feelings of the moment. It's just Wrong. Grin

TeeBee · 17/09/2014 23:44

I am always closest to where the children are, no questions.

NetballHoop · 17/09/2014 23:45

HauntedNoddyCar , you've made me stop and think. Yes we are on the same side on the sofa and also in all (3) the photos of us I can find right now.

I feel like I need to change this, but it might go badly wrong.

SquirrelWearingATrilby · 17/09/2014 23:45

I sleep on my right so if we've argued and not made up I can turn away and still sleep comfortably knowing he can't sleep properly if we've not made up

LuluJakey1 · 17/09/2014 23:47

I have the right hand side and he has the left, wherever we sleep- hotel, holiday rentals, PIL, friends. He invades my space and we do roll about a bit DTD but I can't sleep on the left hand side of a bed.

On(or in) my bedside chest of drawers, I have a lamp, contact lens case, pairs of glasses, hairdryer, mirror, hairbrush, hair mousse, make-up bag, vibrators, lube, condoms, ipad charger, phone charger, tissues.

DH has ipad charger, books, lamp, clock, condoms, lube and tat. Tat on the drawer top, tat in the drawers, tat on the floor next to the bed- screwdrivers, swiss army knife, torch, socks, washers for bathroom taps, spanner, light bulbs, notes from family tree work, football cards, BCFC programmes, old tshirts, empty water bottles.

So even if I could sleep on his side, I wouldn't.

We have boxes of condoms, never opened them, couldn't be bothered. Hence 25 weeks pregnant on saturday! Smile

Naoko · 17/09/2014 23:47

The left side of the bed is mine. No matter where we are. No swapping. Thankfully, DP knows what's good for him is a very sensible man and sees this my the correct way.

PepsiTwirl · 17/09/2014 23:48

We have a side each, with our own bedside cabinet.....

Even on holiday, we have a side and stick to it.

princessnumber2 · 17/09/2014 23:49

I must be in the side nearest the door /loo if there is one. I can't be against the wall if it's one of those situations.

At home this means I sleep to the right of dh (if we were both lying face up). HOWEVER dh says that is a wholly unnatural state of affairs and I should be on his left as he 'can't kiss me properly that way round'. I have stood my ground for 8 years but we are moving soon and his left side needs and my door needs will combine for the first time in marital history.

TyneTeas · 17/09/2014 23:51

In 15 years it has never occurred to either of us that side swapping is possible!!

deleting history in case OH reads this and questions as I have the best side - furthest from door, nearest radiator and window

PepsiTwirl · 17/09/2014 23:51

Thinking about this.... I always seem to be furthest from the door, but not for no reason...

Altho, when drunk he normally lays in middle, so have to get in bed quick when he comes in drunk :)

But when he gets up, I often roll onto his side, but he always complains as my hair comes out...

Lol.... This thread is rather amusing and never really thought about it before :)

PepsiTwirl · 17/09/2014 23:52

On a restaurant, i will sit facing the wall...

I'm weiRd Wink Grin
