Steak and blowjob day

TwittyMcTwitterson · 13/03/2014 22:10

For those who don't know, this is the male alternative to valentines day which is all about women.

I think it's just a fun day. To be offended or perturbed is just that person being a bit too serious.

I'm a tad nervous of peoples opinions when I buy a big steak and some strawberry flavoured durex play tomorrow. Shock

Just wondering what peoples opinions are to this? I've had reactions varying from a giggle to wtf is that? What a stupid idea.

"Find something more important to have a problem with..." Head... Desk... Ouch. Some people do manage to worry about more than one thing at once you know. And it's not exactly an uncommon thesis in feminist thought that part of the problem is that all the tiny little things, individually supposedly too small to complain about, pile up into one huge whole.

Okay, so this is my problem with "Steak and blowjob" day (for the record, I think Valentine's day is a commercialise pile of shite too): it just smacks of something dreamt up by the "editorial" (I use the word in its loosest sense) board of Nuts, or Zoo, or Loaded, to push a whole set of sexist tropes: women are frigid and won't give a BJ unless you force them into it; men are simple-minded cretins who only care about steak and BJs; Valentines is somehow some sort of huge feminine conspiracy to force men into buying a cack bunch of flowers and a box of dairy milk from the Shell Garage on their way home from work which is need of being balanced by a properly "masculine" day.

You like doing it - fine. Do it. But don't have a go at those of us who have a different view (or at least, don't sound so bloody surprised and defensive - you chose to post in AIBU).

I know plenty of women who are SAHP and feminists and plenty of working women who are not - your employment status is no indication of your politics

TwittyMcTwitterson · 14/03/2014 12:48

Differing opinions are fine PP. Being a bit of a cunt about it aren't. Never thought people would get so arsy about a blowjob

Never thought people would get so arsy about a blowjob they aren't

hellokittymania · 14/03/2014 12:51

Was around in 2003 when I was at university in Kentucky...

I didn't join in....

fideline · 14/03/2014 12:51

No. They aren't

KatieScarlett2833 · 14/03/2014 12:51

Not one person has said that blow jobs were bad.

CountessOfRule · 14/03/2014 12:57

Blow jobs are nasty.

::triggered::

VeggySausage · 14/03/2014 12:58

I haven't seen any cuntishness op. DDisagreeing with you doesn't make someone a cunt.

LurcioLovesFrankie · 14/03/2014 13:00

Seems like (according to this) it dates from 2002, which seems about right - I don't remember anyone mentioning it while I was at university. Actually, the article is pretty bloody funny (well, funny unless you're professionally offended about anyone questioning your desire to arbitrarily give blow jobs on March 14th after you've chosen to publicise that fact on a public website, that is)

antiabz · 14/03/2014 13:01

Dp would never know.

Everyday is steak and blowjob day in this house!

( Oh but by 'steak' I mean vegetable lasagne, and by 'blowjob' I mean cleaning rota Wink )

Mim78 · 14/03/2014 13:03

I assume it's meant as kind of a joke not an obligation. As a light hearted suggestion it is not offensive per se. Just some men pointing out their idea of a good time, I guess.

ChocolateSnowflakes · 14/03/2014 13:04

Disagree about Valentine's Day being all about women, but agree that steak and blowjob day is just a but of fun. I can enjoy the steak as much as he can. Blowjob doesn't upset or offend me either.

fideline · 14/03/2014 13:07

Erm a 'bit of fun' is a paddle and an ice cream Hmm

Dishaster · 14/03/2014 13:08

So so glad I'm a lesbian. There is enough meat on this thread to make my head spin!

TwittyMcTwitterson · 14/03/2014 13:09

Well just recently I've been called a bit dim and I forget the other word the poster used. And obviously not self respecting. Not nice things to say, and completely unnecessary

Fideline you're right, a paddle and an ice cream is a bit of fun. The sort I'd have with my entire family though. This, not so much. I'd rather keep the steak in the kitchen and the blowjob in the bedroom when kids are safely tucked away. It's a joke, as far as I'm aware there is no formal obligation to take part...

fideline · 14/03/2014 13:11

Grin @Dish

Let's hope no vegan lesbians wander in. Though god knows why they would....

FunLovinBunster · 14/03/2014 13:13

Just shows how basic and inferior men are.
I've got better things to do than pander to a dick.
It's like feminism never happened...god help our daughters...

fideline · 14/03/2014 13:13

See Choc I can see that joking about the fact that it is S&BJ day could be a 'bit of fun' or funny, but actually doing it seems a bit different to me.

fideline · 14/03/2014 13:16

Fun I don't even want to guess what my DD would do if a man suggested this to her. Something with a mandatory custodial sentence I'd imagine.

It's not generational, thank god.

TwittyMcTwitterson · 14/03/2014 13:19

Turns out I'm going to Pizza Hut tonight. Variety is the spice of life.

If we're not too full he may still get a bj after. Wink Like I say, participation is optional

OP posts:
tethersend · 14/03/2014 13:21

DP has mixed feelings; he likes steak, but he's not sure if he's any good at blowjobs.

KatieScarlett2833 · 14/03/2014 13:25

Watch out for the carby farts Eve Wink

ilovesooty · 14/03/2014 13:28

So the existence of the day proves men are basic and inferior?
