neighbor refuses to give me my parcel!

hi, pls can any1 help with this problem? i placed an order with sportsdirect online, my parcel was left and signed for by a neighbor who refuses to acknowledge she has my parcel and wont speak to me! contacted sportsdirect (who dont advertise any contact numbers for customers, now i know why!) who basicaly said its not their problem that the neighbor wont return it? The courier firm (Yodel) that delivered the parcel have refered me back to sportsdirect so they wont take responsibility either! Do i just accept that Ive lost out or is there anything i could do about this???? :(

Tell her that you'll go to the Police if she doesn't hand it over, as legally it is theft.

non emergency number of course. See if they'll go with you to knock? It doesn't hurt to ask. Get a copy of the thing with her signature on to take with you.

Do you know for sure that your neighbour signed for it? if so then imo its theft if shes not handing it over - I would be having a chat with the local bobby to see what they think.

Phone the non emergency police number and ask for a PCSO to come and speak to neighbour about theft.

What that is bonkers. Why she being like this ?

I had a very similar problem with Next years ago.

They sent a parcel, I never received it. They looked into it and found that a neighbour had signed for it. Neighbour denied all knowledge of it.

Next informed the police and sent a replacement.

Not sure what happened to neighbour, but Next dealt with it all for me

Another vote for police. Tell her first, that might prompt her to hand it over.

Also, go to the royal mail website and opt out of having items left with neighbours and remember to note that as a delivery instruction for all online orders.

It is theft - and it's provable given that the neighbour signed for receipt with Yodel.

So, drop a note through the door saying, "Please return my parcel within 24 hours or I am contacting the police".

Then call them on the non-emergency number if she doesn't return it.

Phone your local police station and then pop a note through her door telling her you've done this.

Fool of a woman, the neighbour, not you. And as for Yodel, I'd kick up merry fucking hell with them, they are the worst excuse for a courier company there ever has been.

Under NO circumstances accept you've lost out. This is a clear cut case of theft.

Call police on non-emergancy number and explain what's happened.

It is sportsdirect's problem. You paid them to deliver an item to you and they haven't done that. Get back in touch with them and they should get the police involved. The neighbour has stolen from them.

A couple of years ago I had an expensive package go astray (someone transcribing my order wrote the wrong house number). The neighbour at that number swore blind that she had not received it. I believe they were prosecuted because the delivery slip had been signed.

thanx guys..... well she wont answer the door to me anymore and its been 2 weeks now and i have no doubt that she will of problys sold or kept the items for herself so im not sure if the police could help me???

Doesn't matter if she still has it or not, it's the principle.

SD should still deal as you didn't tell them to leave it anywhere else.
They owe you a delivery. The rest is their problem.

She must have signed something when accepting the parcel.

We had this a few years ago, two mobiles delivered to neighbour. Neighbour said they only had one, and gave us that but delivery note sad they signed for two.
I fought with company and they sent another out.
If you know she has it tell her your calling the police unless its returned this afternoon.

All the more reason to tell them then!

thats what i thought, however sportsdirect say they've kept within their terms and conditions and once the parcel is despatched and signed for then its not their problem! also the only way to contact them is by sending a query form by email which takes 3-5 days for a reply and all they do is keep sending me the tracking number to confirm its been signed for!

Be warned yodel are terrible. If they have delivered to her before I wouldn't put it past them to use her name as the signatory. We're you reasonable with her when you first went to pick the parcel up - I.e. could she be insulted/upset at you for accusing her of theft? Ask Yodel for a scan of the signature so at least you have something to show the police should it come down to that.

yes, the police can help you. Someone has stolen your post, either your neighbour or the courier company are lying about delivering it.

Unless you put on the delivery instructions "leave with neighbour" they shouldn't have given it to her in the first place. The courier company or the supplier might just refund you because they delivered it to the wrong address, then it'll be down to them to get it back from her.
