hi, pls can any1 help with this problem? i placed an order with sportsdirect online, my parcel was left and signed for by a neighbor who refuses to acknowledge she has my parcel and wont speak to me! contacted sportsdirect (who dont advertise any contact numbers for customers, now i know why!) who basicaly said its not their problem that the neighbor wont return it? The courier firm (Yodel) that delivered the parcel have refered me back to sportsdirect so they wont take responsibility either! Do i just accept that Ive lost out or is there anything i could do about this???? :(

Also it is sports direct problem because it was not signed for at the correct delivery address or by the correct person, unless you have advised that packages can be left with neighbours?

aquashiv · 21/11/2012 13:27

Yes Its Sportdirects problem. How on earth can you prove that they took it only SD and the courier can - this is not down to you.

Either get your goods from then or ask for your money back.

FryOneFatManic · 21/11/2012 13:27

Regardless of what neighbour has done with the goods, she's signed for them and not given them to you so it's theft. You should get the police involved, and the company sohuld be reimbursing you for this.

ConfusedPixie · 21/11/2012 13:28

Did yodel actually get a signature? Because they haven't got a good rep for doing things by the books and may be trying to cover their arses.

perceptionreality · 21/11/2012 13:28

OMG this is why I hate Yodel. Leaving parcels with a neighbour relies on the goodwill of the neighbour to make sure the recipient gets it. There is no way you should have to just accept the loss! If Sports Direct won't send a replacement, then contact your bank and say that you want them to do a charge back because you did not receive your goods - which is true! The Yodel carrier should have attempted another delivery, not dumped it with a neighbour.

I am not sure what the police could do or how long it would take?

Just had a thought, did you pay by credit card?

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:30

x post!

BupcakesAndCunting · 21/11/2012 13:30

Kick her in the clunge.

perceptionreality · 21/11/2012 13:30

I always try to order things that will not be delievered by Yodel. They are shocking. They have dumped my parcels on the street before now.

fuzzywuzzy · 21/11/2012 13:31

how did you pay for the goods?

Contact sports direct and say neighbour knows nothing and you want your money back or the items replaced and delivered to you, or you will notify your credit card company.

You did not give them the neighbours address to deliver to, therefore its between SD and whoever they think has received it, which was clearly not you!

Two weeks isn't that lnog.

If SD still do nothing tell your credit card company that you were charged for goods which were never received, they will open a dispute for you and also tell the police.

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:31

How are Yodel still in business? The amount of complaints against them is shocking.

perceptionreality · 21/11/2012 13:32

Last year I didn't receive a parcel from a company who ignored my emails asking where it had got to. My bank said that they would be able to claim the money back if I filled out a form.

I informed the company that I was going to do this. 2 days later my parcel turned up Hmm

Viviennemary · 21/11/2012 13:38

I would give your local Trading Standards Office a call. You have not received your goods. And somebody is responsible. Whether it is the Courier firm or Sports Direct. This passing the buck nonsense is really annoying. I'd try that before you get the police involved. And if you paid by credit card you should be able to get them to refund the money if all else fails.

ThePoppyAndTheIvy · 21/11/2012 13:39

How do you know the neighbour signed for the parcel? Have you been provided with a copy of the signature? If so, go to the Police - 101.

(Unless of course, you are the neighbour from another thread a couple of days ago - if you use your neighbours phone all the time & have custom made computers and flat pack furniture delivered to her whilst claiming poverty, she may just be making you sweat).

perceptionreality · 21/11/2012 13:41

This is another reason why I always use Paypal for everything if the option is there.

AlfalfaMum · 21/11/2012 13:41

My neighbour came looking for a modem which he had been told had been left with me and signed for by me. It hadn't been, although I'd had a separate delivery in my name at about the same time. We were both pretty confused, but luckily he knows me and knew I wouldn't have stolen it (I think!).
I think the delivery guy took it. I get a lot of deliveries, but I never saw him before or after.
My neighbour got another modem sent but I'm not sure of the details.

Anyway, it is possible your neighbour didn't take it?

Ephiny · 21/11/2012 13:42

I had a parcel go missing with Yodel last year, it was 'signed for' supposedly by me, but I had never seen it. The 'signature' was just the first letter of my name Hmm, and we also have CCTV outside so could prove the driver had never come to our door. So it might not be your neighbour who's lying.

I reported it to the retailer and they sent me a replacement.

MrsBethel · 21/11/2012 13:45

If the neighbour says she hasn't go it, it's quite likely the neighbour hasn't got it.
Have you actually talked to them?

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:47

She has said she has spoken to the nieghbour.

squoosh · 21/11/2012 13:47

Clue in the title.

ThePoppyAndTheIvy · 21/11/2012 13:54

OK, have just re-read all of your previous posts. So long as you do not recognise yourself as the neighbour on this thread, then please call the Police on 101.

At least a visit from them will probably uncover whether she actually did receive the parcel or not.

maddening · 21/11/2012 13:57

Pop a note through neighbours door advising a courier advises they signed for a parcel and that if they don't produce it the police will be called.

Ask them to contact you to confirm either way and take it from there - if no response or they deny having the parcel then call the police - it may be your neighbour or the courier that stole it - find it hard to believe that anyone is so stupid to shit on their own doorstep but there are some right wombles out there!

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 21/11/2012 14:09

Yes definately police on non-emergency number - and I would suggest a little sticker on your front door that reads "if no one is home please DO NOT leave package with neighbors" for future deliveries.

YANBU - I would have dug a tunnel underground and retrieved it by now! Smile

GiveMummyTheWhizzer · 21/11/2012 14:11

Of course - this is assuming you KNOW that neighbor actually did sign for it - delivery companies can be a little stingy with the truth....
