In other words, DM could reflect the views of the silent majority.

Finally: what is so heinous about a view point that gives importance to the concept of personal responsibility, and the values of the country?

the DM is an awful rag, there's not much more to say. And if it truly does reflect the view of the silent majority, then they are in dire need of a decent education

It's just another tabloid to me so I have no feelings one way or the other about it.

Having said that, I don't get why some people read it just so they can be personally outraged about what's been written in it.

The Daily Mail Online is like a smoking addiction. I know it's bad for me, I want to stop, but I just can't keep away.

But at least I'm not paying for it.

The Mail online has very good SEO, so if you search for a news story it will often be the first thing shown.

Not that it's difficult to click on the 2nd or 3rd link that Google shows you...

My parents read the DM, with the knowledge that its a ranty, scaremongery, reaction inducing rag. I take most things in their with a pinch of salt, the writing is intended to be imflammatory.

There is no harm in bashing it but just because you buy it, doesn't mean you buy into it.

I love the DM, makes me roar with laughter especially the readers' comments.
And I like the photos of Angelina's kids.I don't give a toss about anyone on any of the TV shows and I hate all the look at her tits stories but still, enough to keep me reading in there.

I look at it online for celeb goss & "news".

Then I look elsewhere for a report of any news stories I´m interested in.

Me too Pumpkin! However, every time I actually know something about the story, I realise just how slanted and just plain wrong the story actually is so I do always keep an open mind about whatever I am reading!
For example, Zachary Quinto tweeted a link to an interview with him in a magazine. Very sweet, informative interview where at one point he talks about possibly passing down values to his children one day. Later in the interview he does not comment on his relationship to Glee's Jonathon Groff other than to say that he is very happy and lucky (or similar!). Headline next day in the Daily Mail-'ZQ can't wait to have children with JG!'

i love the mail on-line i read it every day

im not their typical reader i suppose (single parent on benefit 3 dc's etc)

but im no way ashamed to say i read it,though i have my suspisions many do on here but dont admit it,lol

only thing annoys when some say they dont but clearly do,does it matter if you choose to read it,no its personal choice

I read it every day [online] but I don't take a lot of what they write very seriously as there's plenty of sloppy lazy journalism there! Too much wine, coffee, bread, fake tan will kill us all kind of thing !

It's good for a light hearted read about what non entity slebs are up to mostly.

I read the DM online every day, but it is a ridiculous, low standard scaremongering publication. Doesn't mean I sign up for everything it supposedly represents - and I don't believe it represents ANYTHING other that getting more readers. It's so obviously inflammatory and manipulative that it's funny to read. I guess some people are easily inflamed and manipulated and take it seriously?

There is a logical fallacy, that is concisely named "appeal to majority".

If there are two opposing opinions, the one held by the greater number is not automatically right.

I dislike the way they mix child abuse and show is stories - in one side it's a story about the abuse of a 14 year old girl and on the other there's a story about how some teenager has turned 16 ' and is showing off her curves in a tiny bikini" makes me want to hurl. I find the Kim Kardashian and Kelly Brook obsession confusing and dislike the graphic details they splash across the headlines.

But I do work nightshift at a computer and the DM website keeps an army of nightshift workers from falling asleep

I read it online nearly everyday, along with other news sites. Just occasionally they do good articles, especially in the MoS and the campaigns are good ones. The readers comments are worth their weight in gold and the celebrity gossip is brilliant.
