To ask why some people think McDonalds is the devils food?

What have some people got so against it?

I use macdonalds not so much as a treat but more when I really cannot be bothered or we're back really late which usually comes once a month. Everytime I go it's always really busy, weekends it's absolutely full of kids so people must be eating it and they're not all dead/obese/chav scum. So why is it so frowned upon by some?

Snobbery.

I don't mind McDonalds every now and again. It's cheap and easy - sometimes you need that.

scubastevie · 07/06/2012 20:05

Don't know, but I love it :o

PoppyWearer · 07/06/2012 20:06

McDonald's is vile. Burger King rules ok.

nymets · 07/06/2012 20:07

have you not seen supersize me? Wink

PoppyWearer · 07/06/2012 20:07

I had an "I can't be bothered" day today and got Burger asking, first time in 4-5 weeks.

PoppyWearer · 07/06/2012 20:07

asking King!

Figgygal · 07/06/2012 20:08

I don't like it because i think it tastes like crap but that's just me.

Shakey1500 · 07/06/2012 20:08

We had MacDonalds for lunch Grin It was bloody lovely.

Trexy · 07/06/2012 20:09

Is it just me or were the nuggets and shit much better when they were full of salt adn trans fats?

biddyofsuburbia · 07/06/2012 20:09

Have you been reading that other thread Wink?

PerspectiveUrgentlyRequired · 07/06/2012 20:11

I have a weakness for the sausage and egg breakfast. And their lattes are fab. Don't like much else though. I have a nice wee breakfast treat every other Thursday after dropping my DD at school. Grin

Olivetti · 07/06/2012 20:12

I don't know. It's not great, in nutrition terms, but neither are lots of things -you don't die if you eat it occasionally! I find folk who turn up their noses at it (mainly my friends and in-laws!) think nothing of troughing themselves on home-cooked meals involving a kilo of butter/goose fat/cream etc. But that's ok, cos it's organic Grin

DublinMammy · 07/06/2012 20:12

Is this because of the children-feeding-the-dog-thread? FWIW I think McD's is utter shite and don't eat it myself but don't give a hoot about someone else eating it, which is why I made no judgement about it on the dog thread.....

legohouse · 07/06/2012 20:12

i totally love Mc d's (and pretty much all fast food) well, pretty much all food Grin

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 07/06/2012 20:13

I'm not generally a fan of fast food because their veggie options are PANTS...but McDonalds don't have the best animal welfare record...so that's the main reason for me.

DukeHumfrey · 07/06/2012 20:15

I love 9 nuggets with BBQ sauce - with coke and an apple pie to follow.

Don't have it that often, but it's cheap, quick and there are days when you need a load of calories at once.

akaemmafrost · 07/06/2012 20:15

We have it about once a week. The dc have fishfingers and chips with OJ. I really do not see a problem with it.

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 07/06/2012 20:17

I view it in the same way as I would any takeout/fast/junk food. Not that healthy, but fine in moderation. I try to stick to a 80/20% rule when it comes to allowing that sort of stuff.

applepieinthesky · 07/06/2012 20:18

I don't have McDonald's very often but if I am out and about early and I happen to pass one I have to have a McMuffin. Love them.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 07/06/2012 20:18

Last nights dinner was, quarter pounder with cheese, medium fries and chocolate milkshake - which i dipped my chips in Grin

mercibucket · 07/06/2012 20:19

They used to have a bad record for raising beef on cut down rainforests etc but I think they are more careful these days?

Fireandashes · 07/06/2012 20:20

MacDonalds was responsible for turning me veggie when I was an impressionable 17yo, after watching a covert video shot in one of their South American meat processing plants...the way the cows got one blow with the captive bolt and if they weren't stunned then tough, the slaughter process started anyway was sickening. I never want to hear cattle scream like that again... Sad

Foshizzle · 07/06/2012 20:21

McLibel

Am too lazy to link to the judgements themselves.

lalaland3008 · 07/06/2012 20:21

Yes it's inspired by the other thread.

I just don't get it, we all eat shite at times surely? I mean even homecooked food is not always good nutritionally. And I'd like to meet anyone who hasn't devoured a large dairy milk/cream cake/[acket of biscuits at some point. Don't see the difference in crapness levels.

BigBoPeep · 07/06/2012 20:21

i much prefer burger king - the salad is crisp and the fries are hot when you get them and not soggy. i could also do without that minging orange plastic 'cheese' mcd's serve.

as a farmer i love mcd's because they account for 10% of the beef industry iirc and we'd have a heck of a lot of forequarter to get rid of if they didnt exist.

in terms of nutrition, it's all dreadful stuff. OK as a treat like all these things, like I say I love a burger king, but not the bulk of your diet!
