To ask why some people think McDonalds is the devils food?

What have some people got so against it?

I use macdonalds not so much as a treat but more when I really cannot be bothered or we're back really late which usually comes once a month. Everytime I go it's always really busy, weekends it's absolutely full of kids so people must be eating it and they're not all dead/obese/chav scum. So why is it so frowned upon by some?

I've not eaten in a McDonalds since the early 1980's.
other than
A coffee a couple of years back to get the free broadband
and a root beer in Chinatown in San Francisco over ten years ago
and using their clean toilets in France

I will ALWAYS choose an independent eatery over a chain - anywhere in the world
I dislike food with so much hidden salt, sugar and fat
and for the nutrition you get it is not good value

It's rubbish food, made for the highest profit by a Corporation whose job is to lure you and yours in thro' the door by any means possible. There are other options out there and if you like McDonalds then nothing you read or hear about the will change your mind. I also include Nestle/CocaCola/Mars Corps in my hate lists

picnicbasketcase · 07/06/2012 21:39

I had a double cheeseburger for lunch. It was bloody lovely. So nyer.

PorkyandBess · 07/06/2012 21:39

I'm not adverse to eating shite now and then, but McDonald's don't do it for me. My kids won't eat them, but will eat Burger King.

Nothing cures a hangover like a Big Mac

i love McD's (although prefer BK) me and ds's have it most saturdays.

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 07/06/2012 21:44

Hangover cure for me is a takeaway cooked breakfast...one thing I miss about living in London. My DH used to go and get me a cheese and onion omelette, chips and beans...now THAT'S a hangover cure. I wish places round here did takeaway >_

it's not just snobbery. Have you ever read the ingredients for a Strawberry Milkshake? No strawberries, that's for sure!

usualsuspect · 07/06/2012 21:55

Oh well, I always drink coke in McDonalds anyway

ThePathanKhansWitch · 07/06/2012 21:56

I don't like the taste. Burger King was much better.

Fluffy1234 · 07/06/2012 21:58

It's a snob thing like package holidays and big televisions.

StellarforStarofAfrica · 07/06/2012 21:59

I have worked at Maccas, and in a posh, organic £1.80 for a glass of fairy water independent organic MC cafe.

I know where I would rather eat...

McHappyPants2012 · 07/06/2012 21:59

its a good hangover cure, because of the salt content. best thing for hangover is those blackcurrent sachet you put in water for diarrhea or sickness think it is Dioralyte

usualsuspect · 07/06/2012 22:00

And?
No one expects it to be full of strawberries do they?

Yes, food is important, and overall should be nutritious, but surely it's about enjoyment too?

I love Asda Party Snax, I have the odd Vesta chow mein, and fray bentos pie. I took DD to KFC in the last school holidays, and she ate Haribo yesterday, never mind her love for Irn Bru.

She ate tripe and ox heart and goes along with whatever I cook.
I know I link to this too often, but really, we eat well, and that includes 'junk'.

I honestly don't know anyone with children who thinks like this. It is what it is. ONce in a while is ok. Personally my only gripe with it is that it doesnt fill any of us up we are all still hungry after an hour.

Maybe it's because it only serves food devoid of fibre, fruit or veg and full of fat, sugar, salt and crap.Or it could be the way it has a long history of trying to hoodwink parents and bribe kids into eating their shite with cheap crappy toys.

Flacid white buns,luminous yellow cheese,fried meat,uber salty skinny fries.....yuk.

Fruitizz-one of your 5 a day my arse. Juice concentrate doesn't count as a portion of fruit or veg.

JayelleBee · 07/06/2012 22:06

Maccy Ds always smells vaguely of farts. That is what puts me off.

The couple of times the little 'uns have been there (with me...I've no idea how often they've been with grandparents/mates folks), they've hoovered the chips and nuggets up. Must be filled with kiddy-drugs.

maddening · 07/06/2012 22:07

I think it's their corporate rep - a bit like nestle and tesco - as a veggie. Iit is rarely I go to maccy d's anyway but have no problem with the food - people are free to eat what they want and responsible for their own choices
