To ask why some people think McDonalds is the devils food?

What have some people got so against it?

I use macdonalds not so much as a treat but more when I really cannot be bothered or we're back really late which usually comes once a month. Everytime I go it's always really busy, weekends it's absolutely full of kids so people must be eating it and they're not all dead/obese/chav scum. So why is it so frowned upon by some?

The sweet chilli chicken deli is the dogs bollocks.

We probably go 4 or 5 times a year. It's convenient.

JKSLtd · 07/06/2012 20:21

We didn't go there at all for years, but now go about once a week - after ds's swimming lesson as the pool is right by a McDs.
I have a sweet chilli chicken wrap, yum. Grin

JKSLtd · 07/06/2012 20:22

Foofy - great minds Grin

Charl0tteBronteSaurus · 07/06/2012 20:23

no idea
i would wager that all the sat/fat/lack of vitamins is no worse than in pizza express, for example
sadly dd1 doesn't like it, so i have to get my fix at the drive thru when i go on training at work

FoofyShmooffer · 07/06/2012 20:23

Ha Grin indeed.

Idocrazythings · 07/06/2012 20:23

It's so much better in Aus. Every maccas (as we like to call it) has a playground with slides etc. there is also a macafe in most with really nice coffee. I would sometimes meet my husband there at 6pm the kids would play for an hour and have nuggets and we'd actually gave something to eat quietly together! Even if it was a processed crappy burger- we actually would get to chat!! I miss those playgrounds :(

I worked for them for a while a couple of years ago Blush as we needed the money. They were the best employers (apart from when I was self employed obviously :o) and while I was being put through manager training we got all the guff about welfare etc. Its true that McDonalds made a fortune serving inferior quality meat for years but they got found out and changed their ways.

As someone who only buys good quality or organic meat and dairy from the supermarket, i would have no issue with the family eating the occasional meal from there WRT welfare. As it goes we tend to only use them when travelling as the food is of a consistent quality and cheap compared to other places in the services.

And also, you would be AMAZED the upstanding members of the community who slope in at odd hours for a McMuffin :o

We can't go. Every time the DC have been, without fail an hour later they have 'burger bum'. Confused

usualsuspect · 07/06/2012 20:45

It's snobbery pure and simple.

crashdoll · 07/06/2012 20:47

YABU for discussing McDonalds when I'm starving, sick to death of toast and rice while recovering from a stomach bug.

I want a fucking big mac now!

NettoSuperstar · 07/06/2012 20:48

Because they are up their own arses.
I love food, I spend a lot of time planning what to cook, and shopping for food, and spend most of my money on food. I have recently started a food blog, yet we eat Maccas occasionally.
I believe in a balanced diet, and anything can be part of that.

SelfRighteousPrissyPants · 07/06/2012 20:49

Not because it's junk food (had chip shop chips for tea) but because of the way McDonald's does damage to the environment and runs their business.

AdventuresWithVoles · 07/06/2012 20:49

I was in McD's yesterday, because I fancied a milkshake & DS3 wanted ice cream & DD wanted onion rings & DS2 needed something to eat (fries).

The fries & rings were okay but the milkshakes were awful. 3 of us who tried it were just saying yuck afterwards! I had one 2 months ago &somehow thought it wouldn't be so bad this time; nope, awful. Cold artificial flavouring (blech).

McHappyPants2012 · 07/06/2012 20:49

I have stopped getting McDonald's after a few stray fries and a nugget in the car with no mould after 2 weeks. How is that possible

summerintherosegarden · 07/06/2012 20:54

Hate it...makes me feel sick and not at all full despite the 1000s of calories in each meal.

Also, if I made a burger and bun at home, I sure as hell wouldn't use fifty-ish ingredients.. www.nutrition.mcdonalds.com/nutritionexchange/ingredientslist.pdf

(Scroll down to page 2 - when they say that a burger is "100% beef" it isn't strictly true)

bigjoeent · 07/06/2012 20:55

Don't like them, the burgers are just floppy. I like burgers, but they should be thick, crispy and in a lovely bun with thick chips that are hot, hot, hot.

summerintherosegarden · 07/06/2012 20:55

McHappy that reminds me of that saying... if it doesn't rot, it isn't food

mumofjust1 · 07/06/2012 20:55

We have mcdonalds maybe once a month or so.

Dd and I ALWAYS have medium big mac meals (no cheese and extra sauce) I have a diet coke or cup of tea and dd has orange juice or a hot chocolate or tea.

Don't see it as a problem once in a while, especially if you eat healthily as a rule, which we do

Sparklingbrook · 07/06/2012 20:55

It has to be said the reality of the food is nothing like the photos. Sad

bigjoeent · 07/06/2012 20:57

Sparkling, that is soooo true

milkand2sugars · 07/06/2012 21:00

Me and the dc's had a maccy d's today and we all enjoyed it! It's one thing I can manage that doesn't set my morning sickness off. Smile

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 07/06/2012 21:04

My reasons for not liking it are nothing to do with snobbery...My DH likes it from time to time and I don't look down my nose at him.

Sparklingbrook · 07/06/2012 21:06

This is a McDonalds before it has been through the squishing process presumably. Grin

ScarletLadyOfTheNight01 · 07/06/2012 21:13

For anyone who feels sometimes a Big Mac just isn't enough...

LucieMay · 07/06/2012 21:14

WC/MC divide innit?
