Please tell me there are some normal, non social climbing Hampshire sorts out there, that are not psuedo (how do you spell that?) country folk, up their own arses tossers with massive 4wd cars that run you off the road and have never heard of state education? GRRRRR moved from the North and finding Hampshire tricky!

Er, how to answer...

I've recently moved to the new forest and drive a 4x4 and about to buy a volvo. But I promise my wellies are blue sparkly ones and the kids are going into state school..

Does that help?

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:20

yes, thanks, just having a little rant to myself, grrrrrrrrrrrrr

sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:21

OP posts:
sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:22

i don't even own a pair of wellies

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:23

Or 3 if you are including yourself?! Tho it does seem to be hard finding new nice folks.

scrappydappydoo · 04/02/2011 18:24

Waves to massivepants - don't think I'm up my own arse any social climbing I do will be out of primordial (sp?) slime.
Having said that dh all of a sudden seems to want a 4x4 since moving here.
Also some kids must go state school cos they're all bloody oversubscribed (wallowing on a waiting list emoticon)

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:24

I do, and I go to the school pick up with no make up on in a car with only 2 wheels that drive it. Can you imagine the scandal!

OP posts:
massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:25

Oh yes, Kryshees, I am very nice of course!

OP posts:
profound · 04/02/2011 18:26

I'm in Hampshire and I am quite normal. But then I don't live in a posh bit. Know what you mean though - used to work with loads of these!

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:26

shock horror...I take dd to nursery in the 4x4 (cos hubby stole my nice cheap little runner) with hair unbrushed!! Infact not sure where my hairbrush is

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:27

Profound, glad you know what I mean, my DH doesn't!

Snuppeline · 04/02/2011 18:27

I've recently moved to Hampshire too, from London. I've only got one pair of spotty wellies which I never use... I'm a fair weather girl me Wink

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:27

@massive pants..I'm sure you are!!

fairtradefloozy · 04/02/2011 18:29

Lived all over and now settled in East Hampshire. Its taken me a while to settle in but I consider myself normal honest hardworking type. I own wellies (giraffe print), don't hunt or shoot or fish (unless its the chippy) but do walk, shop and drive (5 yr old red peugeot). No kids. Otherwise PM me and I am sure we can help you settle in!

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:29

Snuppeline- EVERYONE who lives here has moved from London.
Why?
Take me back North..........boo hoo

OP posts:
profound · 04/02/2011 18:29

I don't own any Boden stuff or an Aga or a 4x4, and I shop in Lidl from time to time. I don't say 'absolutely marvellous' to mean quite nice. I may get thrown out of Hampshire for being too common.

sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:30

i haven't massive - i have always lived here

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:31

Profound, I think I might be thrown out for being to Northern, which would be absolutely marvellous.

OP posts:
Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:31

I moved here about 8yrs ago from the lovely place that is swindon

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:32

Do we get the reason for ranting!?

GraceK · 04/02/2011 18:33

We live in the New Forest - we do have 4x4 but kids go to state school & the wellies are because DD1 & husband obsessed with walking in the New Forest & it's often very muddy. I think Hampshire's nice but then I'm from Surrey so don't know any better :)

sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:33

she don't be liking us kryshees Wink

HannahHack · 04/02/2011 18:34

Yes! I moved to Hampshire when I was 16 from Hackney (rather 'mixed' borough in East London). I am notmal, I went to state school, and I hate the 4x4. My parents are the same, (still living in winchester) and though they love their new life can't stand the Hampshire types. Get a public sector job, its what has kept my parents sane. Are your children at the local state school?
