Please tell me there are some normal, non social climbing Hampshire sorts out there, that are not psuedo (how do you spell that?) country folk, up their own arses tossers with massive 4wd cars that run you off the road and have never heard of state education? GRRRRR moved from the North and finding Hampshire tricky!

I am in East hants too. drive cruddy basehd up car since I reversed into a bollard and didn't get it fixed. DCs at state schools and there they will be staying, even if we win the lottery. I do own wellies (local park very muddy). Social climbing in some places round here is hilarious - massive hope you have got corking great northern accent - that will really wind them up!!!

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:34

The reason for the rant, is complicated, but stems from a particular person who seems to want to know us because of what DH does - rather than who we are. It just bugs me, all this 'do you know the so and so's?' stuff..........and the 'oh it's such fun living in the countryside' etc

Whereabouts are you? we're by the sea in Hampshire and there's lots of nice normal people here.

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:37

we are east Hampshire (I think) I am geographically challenged down here.

I don't have wellies either. DS does, he's 4, is that OK?

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:37

perhaps a hampshire meet?

CamperFan · 04/02/2011 18:38

I don't know east, I know new forest and by the sea. Can you move a bit further this way? Wink

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:39

A new forest meet....? sounds fine to me.

CamperFan, I'm in sway

sazzlesb · 04/02/2011 18:39

I take it you haven't moved to Portsmouth, Hampshire then? What you describe bears no resemblance to the average person who lives there (or Fareham where I grew up)

CamperFan · 04/02/2011 18:40

I'd be up for a meet, although if youre new forest we probably know each other already!!

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:40

I used to work in Portsmouth hospital and therewere LOTS of those types!

QuickLookBusy · 04/02/2011 18:41

I too am in Hampshire and am Northern.

Have frequently been asked why I speak "funny" and have been told I must be paying for something wicked I did in a past life because I don't sent the DC to a private school. They have to put up with an outstanding local secondary.Hmm

On the other hand the "locals" in our village think I am very posh because I do have hunter wellies for walking the dog[in muddy fields] and we go to resaurants several times a month.

I get confused with myself sometimesGrin

CamperFan · 04/02/2011 18:41

Sorry was talking to OP first, then you. I'm Milford!!

gramercy · 04/02/2011 18:41

Ooh, what does your dh do, then? Is he, like an equerry ?

I don't think anyone has ever spared me the time of day based on the worth of dh! (Glares at dh walking in door in boring suit and tie.)

myproblemblob · 04/02/2011 18:42

I've lived all over Hampshire born in Portsmouth so definitely not posh!
I now live in the new forest too. Own wellies but you have to if you want to make the most of the forest.
State school for my children and no 4x4 ( can't afford to run or even buy one)

Would love to do a hampshire meet!

Guacamole · 04/02/2011 18:42

"that are not psuedo (how do you spell that?) country folk"

pseudo - well that's how we spell it in Hampshire anyway.

"have never heard of state education?"

What's state education? Confused

"EVERYONE who lives here has moved from London.
Why?"

Uummm some of us were born here!

"Take me back North"

Byeeeeeeeeeee...

profound · 04/02/2011 18:43

Massive - are you in Petersfield? Or maybe Selborne? I am trying to think of 4x4 type places!

massivepants · 04/02/2011 18:43

can't say what he does- but it's quite a posh job, which is ironic really coz being Northern I am obviously not capable of being posh....................

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:44

profound · 04/02/2011 18:44

sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:44

aye

if its close enough to me - i will be there

Kryshees · 04/02/2011 18:45

oo a posh job?! ooo tell?!

myproblemblob · 04/02/2011 18:46

aye

Guacamole · 04/02/2011 18:46

Only if we can meet somewhere that has ample parking for my 4x4.

gramercy · 04/02/2011 18:48

Oh, if he works for Goldman Sachs you must live along the A272 - near the Weald & Downland museum, perhaps. There are some dead posh villages there. Petersfield handy for commuting.
