Please tell me there are some normal, non social climbing Hampshire sorts out there, that are not psuedo (how do you spell that?) country folk, up their own arses tossers with massive 4wd cars that run you off the road and have never heard of state education? GRRRRR moved from the North and finding Hampshire tricky!

no spend a day in fareham for that

socialhandgrenade · 04/02/2011 21:26

I live in Portsmouth. Come and shop at Fratton Asda with me, it will make you feel really classy Grin

socialhandgrenade · 04/02/2011 21:35

tomhardyismydh, Bridge Centre now known round here as "Fight Club". Saw man walking round recently with a rat on his shoulder Grin. Just waitin til I get a payrise (ha ha) and can make it out to Port Solent Tesco.

FabbyChic · 04/02/2011 21:39

Social ! Hello! I live in Portsmouth too.

If you want chavtastic go to Essex where Im originally from Portsmouth is a much better place to live than anywhere in Essex!

harassedinherpants · 04/02/2011 21:43

Another Hampshire body!

I'm in Andover. It's quite nice although full of London overspill estates from the 70's. It's really mixed here as surrounded by lots of rather pricey villages!

I don't own a 4x4 although I wouldn't mind one actually given the size of the pot holes, dc's have all been to or at state school although I went to private.

Have to agree with vj32. Waitrose in Romsey is full of poshness.

LittleMissHissyFit · 04/02/2011 21:46

Stovies... YANBU... but I couldn't afford HW or Odiham.... ended up in the other village...

NO 4X4 (yet), no spotty wellies DS in state reception.. I'm normal!

Thinks we could do with a few meet ups from this thread!

If not too far, count me in?

socialhandgrenade · 04/02/2011 21:51

Hi FabbyChic, I love Portsmouth really, just don't want everyone to find out how great it is Smile

FabbyChic · 04/02/2011 21:52

I like it here, it's okay, people are a tad cliquey, been here almost 7 years and yet to make any real friends! I shop in Asda!

NinkyNonker · 04/02/2011 21:59

Ooooh, local people! We should arrange a meet up. I'm a 6'4" biker with a beard and serious tats and my real name is Jim.

Bicnod...if you're thinking Arnewood my husband teaches there!

cumfy · 04/02/2011 22:02

social thats all a bit too upmarket for the Tricorn market types!

socialhandgrenade · 04/02/2011 22:03

FabbyChic I have sunk to a new low by shopping in Lidl on Goldsmiths Avenue, but will look out for.a MNetter in Asda when my bank balance allows. If only there was some kind of secret MNetter dresscode or handshake so you could tell...but back to OP, tell us more about the posh people that are doing your head in

scrappydappydoo · 04/02/2011 22:06

I would be up for a north hants meet - can't go too far because of school/playgroup runs

socialhandgrenade · 04/02/2011 22:06

cumfy, thanks for reminding me that there is always further to sink in Pompey Grin

tomhardyismydh · 04/02/2011 22:16

Tommy · 04/02/2011 22:31

I live in Hampshire and am as common as muck Grin

izzybiz · 04/02/2011 22:36

Im in Winchester, and definately not posh!
No 4x4, no wellies, and we shop in Tesco! Grin

FriggFRIGG · 04/02/2011 22:49

im in hampshire too! Andover...definitely not poshGrin

Shewhoshallnotbenamed · 04/02/2011 22:50

I'm the other way round - I hail from Andover, but am now a fully fledged Northerner.

Dad is born and bred Andover but we kidnapped him and he's been "oop North" 20+ years.

harrased we're probably related Wink

On the whole most Hampshire-ians are pleasant and not-at-all up their arses, the rest are as described in OP. Although that comes from spending time in NE Hants where my friend lives in a ver' ver' posh village.
