Please tell me there are some normal, non social climbing Hampshire sorts out there, that are not psuedo (how do you spell that?) country folk, up their own arses tossers with massive 4wd cars that run you off the road and have never heard of state education? GRRRRR moved from the North and finding Hampshire tricky!

Daytime or evening time?

I'm voting for daytime.

sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:50

daytime good too

ChutesTooNarrow · 04/02/2011 18:53

I would love to come if Sharbie promises not to batter me for saying everyone who went to Top Rank in Southampton was an old gimmer on a previous Hampshire love-in thread.

sharbie · 04/02/2011 18:54

Grin i'll let you off that one

ChutesTooNarrow · 04/02/2011 18:55
Grin

I'm really common as well if you need to up that quota.

CamperFan · 04/02/2011 18:57

Yes,daytime. God, must remember not to wear my one Boden dress!!!!

purplepidjin · 04/02/2011 18:59

Another Hampshire bod here, think I'm normal?

purplepidjin · 04/02/2011 19:01

CamperFan - I'm new Milton. Watch out for Apple Green 1970 Beetles, it's meeeeeeeeee

fairtradefloozy · 04/02/2011 19:02

I am Horndean- about 8 miles to Portsmouth 8 to Petersfield. Very normal. Nothing from Boden (my arse is too fat).

kando · 04/02/2011 19:02

Another Hampshire one here, although not born and bred. BUT we're Fareham and I'm not sure that counts as being in the posh bit of Hampshire??! I'm Scottish and they think my accent's "posh" down here Confused Do have wellies, but that's because the roads and school playground floods when it rains heavily! Def don't have a 4x4 (in fact, we WALK to school) Do I get a pass for "normal"? Please Smile

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 04/02/2011 19:04

I'm from Essex, live in Southampton (Hampshire) and work in super-posh Surrey.

I own no wellies. Used to drive a white Fiesta. Living in sin with partner of 7 years. Lived here for 6 years and haven't yet gone for a walk in the New Forest.

Deffo NOT your average Hampshire dweller!! (Though completely understand your frustration).

Keep your accent. I unfortunately lost my charming Essex accent, but having a Northern accent will certainly keep you grounded.

No kiddies yet but they will be going to the local primary and secondary schools. Unless I win the lottery and can move to a better area with better local primary and secondary schools.

JobCarHouseNoBaby · 04/02/2011 19:05

P.S. Not sure if this is specific to my pc or this thread, but there's a ruddy Boden advert on this thread page! The irony!

CamperFan · 04/02/2011 19:06

Really, I love beatles, we used to have them when I was a kid. Look out for brown Caravelle with white flowers on the side - that's me!!!! ( now we really are giving away too much info!!)

fairtradefloozy · 04/02/2011 19:07

Needs like button for JobCarHouse post!

tomhardyismydh · 04/02/2011 19:08

Im in hampshire, def not posh, dont think that exists in gosport.

myproblemblob · 04/02/2011 19:08

Daytime is fine although have school run and a nightmare 3 year old if its weekdays , weekends i'll just chuck them to dh and escape

queribus · 04/02/2011 19:11

I'm northern too, and ended up in NW Hampshire.

Builders wellies, very battered old car, and def. state school Grin

Some people round here are dead posh, but I'm common as muck, me Wink

FiveFeetTwo · 04/02/2011 19:12

I'm New Forest (having moved from London) and can honestly say I have never met a nicer bunch of people. Kind, friendly, welcoming and really really nice. Smile

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/02/2011 19:17

I'm from W London and have been in Hampshire (NE Hants) for nearly six years- ds at state school, we have wellingtons and I drive a wee Citroen - I think it's all quite nicely mixed here - though all my bookgroupees are considerably richer than me...

MaryAnnSingleton · 04/02/2011 19:18

Everyone v friendly here- I love it !

Sariska · 04/02/2011 19:24

I'm Hampshire too and originally from the North via a 10 year spell in London. (Car is a 4x4 but it's a small one, honest....)

Think I may be in one of the parts thought as posher but most people I've met seem normal and friendly (and those that aren't are good for entertainment purposes). And the state schools here are great. 'tis one reason why so many people move here. Maybe you should move here too, OP Grin.

chickencrisps · 04/02/2011 19:24

waves from Happy Hampshire

NinkyNonker · 04/02/2011 19:28

I'm on the border, just in Dorset (Christchurch) and I'm normal! We don't have a 4x4, just a scruffy Audi estate to house our two equally scruffy dogs, dd is only 6 mo so too young for school, and I do have wellies (dogs, forest, beaches...you get my point) but they ate plain blue.

Welcome to the sunny South!

sheeplikessleep · 04/02/2011 19:37

another hampshire one here and just north of winchester. i am well posh.
