Day 1 for anyone just starting out

Hi all. This is my day 1. I have joined some other threads for support but thought I would start a new one for anyone just starting out on this journey. I have a drink problem. It got worse over lockdown.i have had day 1 before and failed but this time I am starting off prepared. I have books to read. I have joined Mumsnet for support and have told my family and friends.

This is quite nice too. They had it in bills

Those after 8 straws sound amazing, I've got some ammeretto straw things in the fridge which I've been avoiding in case they're a bit triggery

@hazelnutmochi hey nice to 'see' you. Get yourself some after eight straws instead! In Tesco's they had some gin and tonic flavour after eights too! Very bizarre concept, I gave them a miss..

Writing I will be tuning into that podcast for sure. I've a few days with the kids so that is something to drown them out and look forward too. Rupert I had an awful experience with SC in my teens lol. How are your feeling ymna? Hows your H? I'd kill him, but then I'd happily murder mine at the moment as he is taking no time off for mid term, anyway I'll do parks and tey keep myself sane.

Oh I looked up those no 7 advent calendars, what a great idea and something to look forward too. Completely sold out not getting them back in grrr. Looked up amazon 81 pound! They have others but my god youd have a weekend in a spa at those prices.

My sister got me gorgeous eye masks. I dont look like Ariana Grande after but they are very very nice with your candles and bedroom door locked and headphones on! I'll find them and pass it on. Dont know what my 100 day treat will be for myself

Oh no gutted about the no7 calendars. They sell out in 1-2 days every year apparently. But don't worry there are tons and tons of diff calendars these days so just get a different one @Sneachta

Are the eye masks the ones that warm up? I had some of those a while back if so, they were so relaxing.

Evening all, nice day? I'm off work this week which is so nice. Can I retire yet please?

I've been to have a tattoo on my wrist touched up. It was a bit fadey. I had it a few years ago and not that keen on it but I hear removal is really painful so meh I don't hate it that much. I don't remember it really hurting when I first had it but Jesus, today REALLY hurt. Needed a drink after I can tell you!

Took the kids out for a curry this evening, they love curry! Really wanted a drink to go with it but held firm. Day 65...

Morning. I was 100 days yesterday. Dont know what to say really. It's great obviously but its ramping up now for halloween, people getting their tipples in, lots off on mid term and pictures floating of hot whiskeys and the likes. Anyway at least there are no nights out I suppose. Next is to work out how to fill my days at xmas (I know its very soon but it is a worry isn't it) . DH is going to start having a few again, didnt because of moi (I told him not to be daft ) so I'm weaker than I think as that also worries me (hats off to everyone who has partners who have been drinking)

Ouch writingsonthewall that has to have been sore. Not exactly thick skin there lol. Nice to end with a curry :) I was off in the morning too and didnt want to go back (although it was a bit like an amusement arcade/nightclub here by 9am so enjoyed the work peace)

I'm going to look up other calendars ymna, its sounds like a nice thing to look forward too. Those masks are more cooling, jelly like, very nice. If you put eye masks into amazon they are the 'brand murara' crystal 24 gold gel collagen. Very refreshing (if you lock your bedroom door put earphones on and ignore the looking for food and 'he kicked me up my hole'. I'm going to get a pack or 2 for my friend for xmas.

I did indeed listen to a few of 'shazras' podcasts. Easy and you can nod along like a nodding dog agreeing with everything, really keeps you focused. I must listen to the other one today. It was great with earphones on just pottering, ignoring life.

Lashing here today. GREAT, no playground. For the love of god I hope they stay in bed for as long as possible.

I forgot who mentioned 'life' on bbc? Writing or hazel? I'm off to watch that. The acting is brillllliiiant. Love it. Agree with alcohol every 2 mins but it's easier watching at this time in the morning

WELL DONE on your 100 days @Sneachta I'm so proud of you! I'm on day 66 and starting to wonder what the end game is. Don't want to go back to it but then can't imagine not drinking forever either. My h has also been off it cos of me but I think he will start back soon too and I am liable to say "fuck it" and start too. We'll see. We've all done so well anyway haven't we.

Yes loved Life. Hate it when I finish good stuff. We've also just watched Five bedrooms which is worth a watch.

On recs, just finished a book called "seven days", really good, highly recommend.

Off to loom at the masks now. Love a good chill, I could do with a spa day.

Eye masks omg I just don't chill out enough to use this stuff even a face mask I love but again when... I know I can do it when kids go to bed but by that time I'm in the dark watching my Netflix with little one beside me.
I m also stressing about my foot as I have sorry its gross but fungus. Doctor prescribed meds but I don't want to take as affects liver...
I have to admit I did drink the other day was not worth it to be honest but I'm just gonna carry on not drinking as I thought I would experiment and it went wrong. Nothing bad happened but It clearly does not agree with me and my body... As you were!!

@Sneachta!! Brilliant! Have you had any thoughts on a 100 day treat? The eye mask sounds fab.
Never heard of lola lashes @writingsonthewall sound good though. I don't usually wear make-up etc thinking I might treat myself to a manicure, not had one for ages. Worry that I'll ruin it before I've even got home though. Will check out Five bedrooms and seven days.

My big toenails aren't great @Ynwa12345 my Dr also mentioned the meds that aren't great for your liver. I've ordered something off Amazon to try though. I hate them, too embarrassed to wear open toes in the summer which wasn't fun.

Not much to report here, so over half-term, only 1.5 days left though. Arts and crafts here this afternoon which I hate but dd loves. Bit frustrated re lack of any significant weight loss. The lady who wrote the 30 day alcohol experiment lost 10 lbs in 30 days just from quitting booze, day 67 here and where is my weight loss??? I must be saving so many booze calories and even though I'm having plenty of treats I'm not ordering takeaways drunk and hangover eating. I'm hoping one day I'll just wake up and it will have fallen off. It was so easy to put on the weight, not so easy to lose.
Also was doing our online shop and first thing I saw was 25% off 6 bottles of wine, used to get totally excited about this kind of offer, stock up thinking it would last then drink it all within a week because it was there.
I've splashed out on an AF drink advent calendar from Holland and Barret, very excited!

Same as you in terms of not going anywhere so fuck it. We have had so many take outs and eating crap recently its ridiculous.
I'm really pissed off as H has been opening wine last few days (which is one of the days I succumbed) he went out until 1am last night (someone's outdoor balcony) drinking. Then tonight he's opened fucking wine. I was trying not to smoke and i did because of him. I really wanted a drink. I also have wierd head pains and then j think great im smoking too much and gonna get a fucking brain problem.... Arghh j can't wait for for bedtime x

Hazel I bloody hate arys and crafts too what are we like. I prefer sitting (by myself) I didn't have all these kids for me to play with them. Thags what they have each other for (all in jest of course) go get that manicure. I loved writings nails a while back. I made today Nigellas nut bars (condensed milk and all sorts) I'm no good at calories and stuff but jaysus it has to be better than the massive bit of fudge cake, cheescake, trifles I've been making and eating

I also have palpitations when my little one asks for paint I'm like no it's dried out sorry hahaha I'm so evil. Also my little one has completely gone off his ipad unsure why but he said his eyes will break. I said who told u that he said you did mummy! Don't remember that... Older one is out of self isolation at fucking last so we are off on a last minute trip all being well as he's been out in garden with no coat just a thin top in the rain and cold. I went to look for muddy puddles yday with little one and now I'm sneezing. Shit. Lol

Pmsl at you telling your son his eyes would break. I HATE my children loving screens so much, I am always banging on about it. Drives me beserk. Then again I am a teeny bit addicted to my phone as well so need to set a better example.

I love tattoos on other people. I've got 2, one I had when I was 17 with my mates - a butterfly on my back/shoulder. I don't regret it as such, it doesn't bother me at all, but if I chose now I wouldn't choose the butterfly. And then the other one on my wrist which is 4 stars. Again I don't regret it as such but if I could choose again I would choose differently!

The Holland and barrett calendar sounds brilliant. I want one! How many calendars can I have?

Oh ymna pmsl too. I have a nervous breakdown if I see iPads neatly out of battery. We are dreadful here. Your right not to go back to day 1, feck that. Writing fridays are hard atent they. Luckily son no 2 now has beavers and I have to collect him at 8 so I'm delighted with that.

Miserable day here for halloween. It supposed to cheer up later, it better as I have an outdoor treasure hunt planned. I will be mother of the year today (thays a first )

I see national lockdown in UK noooooo. My pal is in Feance and they went into sudden lockdown yesterday. Our no's are coming down slightly but we all know as soon as your released ot will go back.up
