Hi all. This is my day 1. I have joined some other threads for support but thought I would start a new one for anyone just starting out on this journey. I have a drink problem. It got worse over lockdown.i have had day 1 before and failed but this time I am starting off prepared. I have books to read. I have joined Mumsnet for support and have told my family and friends.

I'm not surprised you're feeling deflated @joysmoy, its a hell of a lot to go through and a massive betrayal of your trust.

I really like that coat @Ynwa1234 and I'm not a granny.

Hope you had a good night out @writingsonthewall. Its nice to have a sober twin! Hopefully we'll all still be here to celebrate soberversaries.

Meant to say before I discovered you can buy seedlip cans on Amazon and its on there subscribe and save so a bit cheaper.

I think Friday is my hardest night too. I'm sat up catching up on Corrie enjoying the peace and quiet. At least I'll just be tired tomorrow rather than hungover and tired.

Oh wow @joysmoy that's some length of time. Is he back home now? I really do hope you get it sorted. Get some counselling just for yourself. You are very brave

OrchidJewel · 26/09/2020 07:13

Absolutely nothing.g wrong g with that coat @ymna I was expecting some long twill wool effort.

Hazel friday is definitely the hardest, I actually took a sleeping tab, hadn't had one in ages, just needed yesterday to be over

Have a good sat, joysmoy hope you get a little time to yourself today just factor some alone time to get head.space from all the upset

hazelnutmochi · 26/09/2020 10:46

Had such a bad nights sleep, dd has been sleeping through in her bed but woke last night and came into me (DH escaped to the spare room!) then she was wriggling around for ages.

I was expecting some weight loss by now, I must be saving so many calories from not drinking (plus all the late night snacks!) I've been doing a workout once a week and trying to be more active but I've not lost anything.

You've reminded me I used to take kalms sleep sometimes if I couldn't sleep @OrchidJewel, might get some more. It's hard to switch off sometimes without the wine.

I've definitely been treating myself @Ynwa1234, I was bidding on a few things on Ebay last night so fingers crossed! I actually got a really nice coat on there for a few pounds recently

OrchidJewel · 26/09/2020 15:39

Can you have a little nap.during the weekend day Hazel? Nothing worse than kids coming in, so irritating. I took kids to playground for 2 hours this morning so went up after to read in peace and had a lovely little doze for myself. Maybe some fast walks? Says moi who does nothing

joysmoy · 26/09/2020 16:41

Thanks everyone. Yeh he's back at home but we are taking things very slowly. It's a lot for me to process.

hazelnutmochi · 26/09/2020 18:07

Ah that sounds lovely @OrchidJewel, very well deserved after 2 hours in the playground. I get a couple of hours each morning in the week while dd is at pre school but they go so fast. If I go upstairs when dd is in the house she'll follow or scream. We usually each take her out for a few hours at the weekend so the other gets some me time but didn't work out today. I need to get myself to bed earlier.
Yes, I think I need to take myself for some walks/runs. I'm blaming the wind for not going this evening.
I guess it will take time @joysmoy, baby steps. Hopefully you're finding some me time, take care of yourself.

writingsonthewall · 26/09/2020 19:20

@joysmoy good to hear from you. That is a long time but I'm glad you know the truth. Do you think he's telling the truth that it didn't go further? Is she someone he will have to see again through work/life? Take it one day at a time and keep talking to us.

God yes all the constant "gin o clock" and pictures of people cracking open the wine are not helpful on a Friday eve. @OrchidJewel

Went to M&S for the candle today. They didn't have it 😭 I got one from the same range called "restore" which is nice and I have on now. Might go to the big M&S tomorrow for a sleep one! I initially sent h in to find it while I went to another shop. He called me and was like "they have calm restore or balance, are you sure it was called sleep?" I said yea orchidjewel told me sleep and she was sat right next to it. He said "who the fck is orchid jewel?" 😂😂😂

People ripping up your floorboards is giving me palpitations @Ynwa1234. Kitchen not started yet, starting in around 3 weeks apparently. Dreading the mess and craziness. Hope it looks good when done, I am crap at interior design.

I can't see there being another lockdown like before to be honest. The economy is fucked enough already. Even if there is feck knows why anyone is panic buying, we were allowed to the shop every day in the last one. I cannot be doing with all the queuing in the car park shit again, espec now it's bloody freezing.

The coat made me laugh! I reckon you could pull it off and make it look young and funky 😂

@hazelnutmochi love a bit of Corrie.
I am bloody knackered today, I've got into the habit of meeting one friend for a 4 mile walk at 7 on Saturdays and then going to running club with another friend at 9. It has made me so tired today. I keep waking at 4am every morning, it's driving me crazy. I invested in a big pedestal fan to go by my bed yesterday as I'm menopausal and keep getting night sweats. It's non stop glamour here. Weed sounds like a great plan @Ynwa1234 might help me sleep too. Don't really want the munchies though, I've already put on 3lbs-how is that bloody fair?!?! I mean I do keep eating ice cream and chocolate so might be my own fault but I'm saving all the booze cals ffs.

Tooth still killing. Head still aching. Moan moan moan. Still sober 🏅🎉

hazelnutmochi · 26/09/2020 21:51

I feel knackered just reading that @writingsonthewall! My app has weight loss at 4 months so I'm hoping it all just magically comes off then...

😂 you crack me up @Ynwa1234 I would NOT be happy if my h got up and woke up the children at 530. He needs to be quieter. Hope work isn't too hellish today

Thanks guys. I do think he's telling the truth at last. It's going to take a long time to work this all out but hopefully things will be ok in the end. You guys have been an amazing support so thank you allSmile

OrchidJewel · 27/09/2020 10:46

Morning everyone, all still sober, we are doing great.

Lol writing re the candle. The restore is my next one, as ymna says it's the simple things. I gave up corrie over a year ago. I got bored with Geoff and Yasmine, I couldn't believe it when I flicked on a few weeks ago and they were STILL talking the same shite.

I'm at special needs football. He loves it and I sit in the car. I think I'll go visit my patents after this DH is unbearable at the moment. He was still in bed at 10.15. Shouting at everyone the last few weeks. He needs some therapy as he has barely left the house once since March and is angry but sure its everyone else's fault.

Joysmoy I hope you had an ok night, that is really really tough. I'm sure you just want it all back to normal

hazelnutmochi · 27/09/2020 15:23

Oh no, nightmare Ynwa1234, I hope your day has improved. 5.30 start is awful, especially this time of year. And my dd would be the same with the pasta. I gave her a snack ealier and she tantrumed because I opened it for her, she wanted to open it herself but she can't.

My cat managed to set off the printer last night just after I'd gone to sleep. Scared the life out of me, she obviously had something important she needed to print 😂

That Geoff and Yasmine storyline has been uncomfortable viewing. I do love Corrie but there are too many episodes now. I like watching home and away too, love the fact its always sunny. I've given up on LI USA. Bake off has just started so will be watching that (and trying not to eat too much cake)

Goodness Orchidjewel, that's a long time not to go out. Is he agoraphobic? Or is it Coronavirus? Must be really stressful for you.

writingsonthewall · 27/09/2020 18:53

@hazelnutmochi 4 months? well I guess that would be ok, seems a long time to weight (bad pun!)

I got a sleep candle today. Also got the pillow spray. I'm so desperate for a good nights sleep I'll just Chuck money at the situation. Maybe I should try kalms. I already take nytol one a night though. Which I imagine is the same?

Lol kids make me laugh. The tantrums cos of the wrong pasta or wanting to open stuff themselves are just soo frustrating aren't they but also funny. You can't laugh though as they then get even more mad!

@joysmoy no marriage is without its up and downs and some people do come back from problems like these so stay positive and strong and sober.

Geoff and yasmine is a bit dull. I half watch, half look at Mumsnet and half chat to h so never know 100% what's going on!

We watched the Myra Hindley and
Rose west thing last night, followed by the social dilemma which made me want to delete all social media. (Does Mumsnet count? 😂)
Has anyone got any good programme recs? Have Netflix and prime and Virgin media. Wish they'd hurry up with the next season of Line of Duty, that's my fave.

What's the crack with your H @OrchidJewel? Is he scared of corona? Hope you're alright?

@hazelnutmochi I'm still lurching on with LI USA but it's pretty awful and I'm playing catch up as didn't bother to watch it for like 2 weeks.

writingsonthewall · 27/09/2020 18:53

Why is my entire post in bold. I'm crap at this

writingsonthewall · 27/09/2020 18:56

Hope work was ok @Ynwa1234

We've made it through another weekend gals

hazelnutmochi · 27/09/2020 20:44

I used to have a pillow spray called 'this works' or something which was great @writingsonthewall

We're currently working our way through the office USA which is very good. We watched 30 rock before. Have you seen the tunnel? Loved that. I was late to line of duty, got to binge all 5 series!

Morning everyone, another sober one. It is great ymna when you hear snip its of other people hinting at the same. I've been testing waters saying im not drinking to pals I'm meeting at various activities and its always the same reply 'oh I must do that, im at it too'. (They could be or maybe the only have 1 measure gin that lasts 5 hours who knows). Well at least we have.

I cant believe my skin now. (Havent started my face thng) I just keep staring at it going "whos this fresh faced goddess' Smile

Yeh DH started stockpiling back in jan when news only broke out about it. He was way ahead in his thinking. He is not worried now but hides away in his home office thinking its terrific but not realising its doing him absolutely no good. He isn't bothered with his 4 kids and it's really sad, they all just want attention from him bit there is NO talking to him. He is ALWAYS right. Cant remember when he last brought them to school or picked them up. He hasnt even seen the little fella bounce into Junior Infs.

Re netflix have you seen Power? That's mad but addictive. Unorthodox was great only a few episodes. I gather you've seen Marcella? Friend says Wallender is good. I'm watching the good fight on Amazon prime (after good wife) its brilliant. Cush Jumbo is in it, English actress ahead excellent as is Christina Brananski. Humorous. Yes role on Line of Dutt best this ever. AS YOU WERE

She didn't @Ynwa1234, she was sat looking at it expectantly though, haha

'who's this fresh faced goddess' love that @OrchidJewel. Skin is looking loads better here too. That's so frustrating with your husband. My husband was shielding so didn't go out for months other than GP appointments but he's been going for walks and runs now and we go out to places we know are going to be low risk. Luckily we have some nice green spaces nearby.

I seem to have lost 0.6kg in the last week and am wearing skinny jeans today for the first time in months! Yay! They're actually a pair I was going to return before lockdown because they were a bit big but luckily I didn't as they fit fine now.
