Hi all. This is my day 1. I have joined some other threads for support but thought I would start a new one for anyone just starting out on this journey. I have a drink problem. It got worse over lockdown.i have had day 1 before and failed but this time I am starting off prepared. I have books to read. I have joined Mumsnet for support and have told my family and friends.

Thanks ynwa great mind think alike-I had already written a list of what I want to say/ask!

writingsonthewall · 23/09/2020 13:39

PMSL at your H wanting to stay in the attic and have food and drinks brought to him!! So funny. I might do the same, it sounds brilliant.

Well done on your day 66! So pleased for you. I am on day 30 day which is pretty good! Feeling generally flat about the whole thing though!

So sorry for your little boy having to have the test and knowing he won't cope with it. Absolutely cracking up at your plan @Ynwa1234 to write the you haven't got it text. I love that idea. Maybe don't add "now fuck off" on the end though, it might alert them something is amiss Lol!

good luck with that chat @joysmoy. I hope it goes ok. Hae been thinking of you and we're all rooting for you. Don't let him walk on you, stand firm. You are worth it.

joysmoy · 23/09/2020 14:36

Thanks writings Smile

OrchidJewel · 24/09/2020 06:05

@joysmoy of course the kids wont be there, dont know what I was thinking. how did you sleep? It must be an awful wait for you. Wondering what he is going to say. Are you working? Does this give you a distraction at all? Or is it torture trying to concentrate and hold it together?

OrchidJewel · 24/09/2020 06:10

@ymna do you know what I think its ridiculous, I got the negative text yesterday morning, i screen shot it but no proof of where it came from etc and i thought jesus I can just amend that! Anyway I took a shot of the text as unopened (only showed part of the message) so that should do too. I'm VERY tempted, I like the fuck off bit lol. Son with SN was perfect, he surprises me, they did his throat as no way were they getting up that nose. Friday they will be out.

OrchidJewel · 24/09/2020 06:17

What days are you all on now? Writing and rupert you must be over 30 now?

Still holding firm. There are times when I'd give anything g just to grab a bottle but those times ate now 3pmish when work has become a pain. At least we have our own little thoughts to keep it at bay.

I feel I have turned a corner health wise. Definitely look better, shiny hair, eyes great, haven't had to dye my hair for a while. Feeling good in general. As I was hitting the bottle heavily I presume its taken this long to recover. 6 months I think liver starts to thank you.

A very wet, wild and dark day here. New sofa arriving today we have been sitting on chairs for a while so that's something to look forward to later with my cup of tea and many many different flavours of frys chocolate cream that I'm addicted too. Think raspberry tonight:)

Keep well everyone

Rupertpenrysmistress · 24/09/2020 06:28

Ooh orchid new chairs for this wild day how lovely. I just had a look to see how many days I am as I didn't really count this time I am at 60 today, I think I mentioned before I don't still know how I feel about it a bit meh really. I still have no energy and am so tired. Anyway off to work now. Hope everyone is doing ok thinking about you for tomorrow joy and as always Ymna your stories crack me up! How you going writing? Have a great day everyone.

joysmoy · 24/09/2020 07:05

Thanks guys. I slept ok. Think I've worn myself out! I work very part time (about 10 hours a week) but the routine is good for me.

It's all feeling a little better thanks. Interested to see what he has to say tomorrow. Counselling may help me as well but I'm not sure when I'd fit it in or how I'd afford it tbh. I like to write stuff down when I'm upset as I find it easier so had thought about those text therapy services but I'm not sure they are any good 🤷‍♀️

Hi everyone. I'm doing well @Ynwa1234, thanks for asking after me.
I was writing posts on my phone but DH is in the office for a rare day today, so I'm on the computer, much prefer it. Takes me ages on my phone.
I'm so sorry to hear about your husband @joysmoy. Good luck for tomorrow, it sounds like you are well prepared. I find writing things down really therapeutic.
New sofa is exciting @OrchidJewel, ours is a disgrace I think all the cushions have been turned over multiple times and one side is badly scratched by the cat.
Day 32 here, I was so pleased to make it to a month as I have failed so many dry month attempts. I definitely needed to stop completely and commit to a sober future. Still feeling very tired but more clear headed. I have a quit drinking app which tells me I saved £201 and regained 2 days of life expectancy - amazing! I think my longest AF stint outside of pregnancy is around 100 days so will be good to pass that.

writingsonthewall · 24/09/2020 17:09

Oh jesus my sofa is Disgusting! The children spill all sorts of crap all over it but my h won't let me have another one while they're young/here so looks like I've got a shit sofa for another 8 years or something daft.

In a moment of madness I ordered a new kitchen a couple of months ago. Can't afford it but got to love Wren 5 years interest free credit. It's supposed to be coming mid October but I haven't heard from the fitter for weeks so god knows.

Day 31 for me @OrchidJewel I feel meh too. I look like shit and am still knackered so feeling a bit annoyed I'm not seeing any benefits. I'm going out to an Italian restaurant later for dinner with some school friends which I can't be bothered with espec as I can't drink. A couple of them will be driving though and nobody will be smashing it so it'll be fine.

You're very good doing all the house jobs @Ynwa1234, I reckon I would just sit on the sofa if I were you!

Nice to hear from you @hazelnutmochi, we're almost sober twins. I'm sure being on this thread is keeping me going, I can't bear the thought of going back to day 1 and you all being so far ahead of me!!

@joysmoy GOOD LUCK tomorrow. Thinking of you and glad you're feeling a little bit stronger.

I also love a frys choc crème. haven't had one of those for YEARS. I feel like I need one now. Urgh got to take the boy to football in a bit before I go out. And it's bloody freezing.

writingsonthewall · 24/09/2020 17:19

Sorry to miss you @Rupertpenrysmistress I imagine your work is enough to wear anyone out. Hang in there and well done on 60 days

joysmoy · 24/09/2020 18:46

Thanks guys😊I'm feeling very prepared for any outcome.

OrchidJewel · 25/09/2020 06:24

Morning everyone

Wow rupert 60ish days Smile I'd be knackered too with your job.

Hazel and writing sober twins congrats on 32 and 31, that's some savings, I must get that app, I'd be ashamed about the amount I spent.

Ymna lol treadmill, DH has a rowing g machine, I put it in my back passage and is great for drying towels. My afterschool (creche over here) is my life saver. We have been there for 10 years now this month. I could easily work mornings only (but my poor team wouldn't be thrilled) but I love my 3 full days of peace. Is it because of you know 'the C word's you cant get care? You wouldn't know yourself if you could work more. We had a shit sofa for years. This is grey leather, its fecin gorgeous but I spent my time shouting at them. By the end of the night they were like soldiers sitting on it. They have to learn. I got a lovely candle in Mark's, sleep it's called. It's on here now.

SN son got a negative yesterday, yippee, so he got tested at 3.30 the day before and result the next morning, wow. Dh clear too but unless a moth licked him as he hasnt moved from the house I wouldn't know how he got it. Texted school, creche, bus everywhere, im freeeeeee all back today

Got my vichy ampoules, I'll be wrinkle free and glowing in a few weeks lol

OrchidJewel · 25/09/2020 06:28

@joysmoy I'll be thinking of you today, I'm sure we all will.. Never heard of text therapy, that's sounds good. It's a few days now but you must be just still disbelieving all this. The wondering what the hell is he going to say. Just make sure it's not all about bloody him

@ymna Grin ah I'm sorry about your new coat, you'll never be truly happy with it would you? I step outside the box sometimes and then go what was I thinking Smile

I'm smokahontus too, I really really have to stop, very little point buying all expensive stuff for the mush if I'm still doing that. I had said 3 months off the booze then I'll give it a go. I may start sooner. It's not good at all.

Yeh very quick turnaround here for tests, of course no one is admitting getting one, I've literally only told my Mam so I'm presuming theres a lot more being tested. Donegal is rampant at the moment, over 300 caes per 100k. Locked down now

I'm alright. Glad it's the weekend. I had second part of root canal on weds and it's still hurting 😢 it's given me a right headache. I'm suffering from my Friday night want a drink again. Think Friday night is my most hardest time.

OrchidJewel · 25/09/2020 20:05

Oh your poor face writing, horrible feeling that. Yeh I had the 'goo' earlier. Think it's all the what's apps 'oh i'm opening the wine at last' 'ah mary you deserve it you've had a tough week' fuck off lol. I've my Bombay pantry curry in the oven. I'll be grand once I eat.

Get the candle, its lovely, kinda manli ish iykwim

Happy sober night

Well. It turns out it's been an 18 month emotional affair. We had a heart to heart. He has agreed to everything I have asked of him and immediately messaged other woman breaking it off while I was there once and for all and blocking her on everything. I'm beyond furious and upset but I'd like to try marriage counselling with a real counsellor, not online, and see if we can work something out as we have been together for 20 years. I'm feeling rather deflated tbh
