Yes longest it is. Anyway I was just this minute informed that in the future kids will be riding to school on unicorns so that’s something to think about.

longestlurkerever · 14/07/2019 18:49

Sounds more eco than cars anyway.

leavingAqaba · 14/07/2019 18:55

You think they fart star dust rather than methane? Grin

NC4Now · 14/07/2019 19:14

I’m pretty sure star dust contains micro beads. We’re all fucked.

Frouby · 14/07/2019 19:46

Meh, I think the climate change stuff is beyond what we can change at a personal level. We do what we can. Reduce, reuse, recycle. Am conscious of air miles, eating seasonal, local, sustainable stuff. Reducing meat. We grow our own, have our chooks for eggs. I walk on school run where possible.

But even if everyone did all that and more, industry will carry on the same the world over and that's where the biggest problems are. I reckon that there will be world changing weather events within my lifetime, maybe not here in the uk but further afield and things will have to change then.

Anyhow, I quite fancy a unicorn but hope they aren't as expensive as ponies to keep.

Dd has had a lovely day, lots of cards and presents. She came back from her non-date clutching a pug teddy, a card she hasn't displayed and a soppy grin. Wish I was 15 again.

Am absolutely stuffed. We had burgers from a new burger place that has opened, supposed to be a poor mans five guys. Was lush, but very filling. Currently laid on bed, going to read a bit then have an early night.

Last week of term. It can't end quick enough.

That’s so sweet Frouby. Glad she had a nice day. To be 15 again...

Actually I nipped into the library with DS yesterday to print off a form, and one of my teenage mates was working behind the counter. When we left, DS said ‘who was that?’ And I told him, ‘oh, just a guy who wanted to marry me back in 1992’ Grin

He’s still flipping lovely now, even though he’s ditched the skateboard and the Robert Smith hair.

Teenagers are quite good fun really. Mine are especially lovely right now as they aren’t here. DS1 is out with his girlfriend and DS2 is in his room. It’s rare I get the living room to myself.

longestlurkerever · 14/07/2019 20:17

That made me lol NC4. My kids are at their absolute best when fast asleep!

Any chance of hot date with library man? You know I have a thing for public sector bureaucrats, and libraries are the best!

I used to work in the library when I was 16 actually and Dh would come and meet me there, help me stack the shelves and then take me to Maccy D's for pancakes.

So glad Frouby dd had a lovely birthday and non date!

SenselessUbiquity · 14/07/2019 20:22

Oh yes. Sexy librarians.

AF this evening. I'm going to cancel the boyfriend and have an early night.

NC4Now · 14/07/2019 21:11

That’s really lovely Longest. I used to work in a library too. I loved my date stamp 🤓
And I had unfettered access to the restricted loans... the power!!

No, library man is happily (I presume) married, so I wouldn’t go there.
He made me laugh though, when he said ‘I used to ride my skateboard past your house’ 😂 He was one of the good guys,
DS was quite amused by this entire conversation...

buckeejit · 14/07/2019 23:46

I'm another climate change anxiety head. Doing what I can, knowing it's not enough but the burden can't be on my head to the degree I self flagellate about it. A week or 2 ago I overheard ds(9) chastising dd(5) very loudly 'what did you do that for? That's such a waste. I could have had a wee first and then you could have flushed it for goodness sake!'

Worried about what I'm passing on. I have 2dc but if the fates had been different, I'd have easily had 5.

NC - I'm sorry you're going through this with your dd. Ime there's not much you can do until the person is ready to stop drinking or drastically reduce. I have a somewhat addictive personality but not to the detriment to anyone else but myself so can understand where some people think a reduction in consumption is sufficient. It's a different situation for everyone, so hard to comment. Years ago when pregnant, I attended Al-anon to seek help for a close friend. Sadly I don't think it helped, but did give me a better understanding of how little I could do-you May find it helpful to share experiences & feelings though.

We had the BBQ party yesterday's &had a total of 44 from 11.30-8pm ish. I couldn't have have hacked much more tbh & so glad it went all well but so happy to have a sunny day today with just the neighbourhood children to entertain for a short while.

Drunk too much yest over a long while & had a glass left in a bottle today but now finishing off the next bottle so I can be AF tomorrow, (twisted logic I know). Dh has gone to bed with a headache half an hour ago, leaving me to finish making a poem for DD's 6th birthday card tomorrow. I'm looking forward to a quiet week tending the garden & prepping for festival in 2weeks!

Hoping for decent weather!

buckeejit · 15/07/2019 00:05

Ffs-now I've prepped what to write, I can't find the bloody birthday card for dd for the morning, grrrr!!!!

Dionysa · 15/07/2019 08:43

Bucket, I do that as well (finishing off a bottle so that I can't drink it the following day Confused). Glad the BBQ went ok.

I'm just catching up with everyone's news. I intended to last night, but last night ended up with too many G&Ts as a friend came round whose "D"H has been having an affair. So I haven't had a single AF night this week. So after feeling good about not carrying on after lunch the other day, I now feel completely crap.

Glad your DD had a good b'day and non-date, Frouby.

YY to sexy librarians.

Climate change is yet another thing to worry about. FML.

Dionysa · 15/07/2019 08:44

Buck, not Bucket. Sorry!!

SenselessUbiquity · 15/07/2019 09:08

Good morning everyone
I've downloaded Drink Coach. It could go either way for me: either fiddling with an app will make me feel good about goals and help me; or the nagging pressure will activate the "fuck it" button even more. Let's see.

Dionysa - new start today. Wishing you a better week.

SenselessUbiquity · 15/07/2019 09:09

Buckeejit - well done on getting through that barbecue. Sounds epic

buckeejit · 15/07/2019 11:32

Ha! I too am very proactive on the fuck it button so will await your review of the app. Sort of looking forward to a sober week (hopefully). Dentist on Wed will make it easier Confused

thisnamechanger · 15/07/2019 17:28

shuffles back onto thread in wine soaked anxiety haze and cries

Frouby · 15/07/2019 17:32

Evening all

Beautiful very warm day here today. And the temptation to press the button is strong. The only thing that is stopping me is the fact that I seem to have gained 3lb over the weekend. Probably water weight from too much beer and crap food which will hopefully disappear but if I have 1 I will have another and that will be a billionty syns.

But a can of cold lager would be lovely.

Sipping sparkling water with ice but it's not cutting it if I am honest.

Was supposed to be making a roast dinner but it's too fucking hot for that so have chucked the chicken in and will have it with jacket spuds and salad instead. Ds is furious as he loves a roast dinner but have bribed him with an ice cream later instead.

He will need it to cool down. He's walking around in a Christmas jumper and joggers lined with fur for some bizarre reason. Must be 25 degrees here.

Frouby mine have never lived in a euro climate in their memory. They are obsessed with ‘sleeves’. They think this applies to the legs. “Mummy if we go can we wear long sleeved shorts?”

Dionysa · 15/07/2019 20:51

Leaving, 🤣 at long-sleeved shorts.

Hot here too, Frouby. I gave up and fed the DC cold bits. Well done on sticking with the water, even if it didn't cut it.

You're going to have to start a new thread!!

Thisname, you are not alone in your shuffling.

I would like to say today was AF, but I had a half of lager at lunchtime. However, I did not carry on, and have had the M&S AF substitute this evening. It's not as nice as Becks Blue, but only 39 calories for a 330ml can, so that swung it for me. I don't normally drink beer, really, but it was too hot for anything else.

Let us know how you get on with the app, Senseless.

Dionysa · 15/07/2019 21:13

I'm not very good at attaching photos...

Wankerbastards will upset us that try, but we will still be dry. Or dryer at a push. It's a good job we are not in a rush.
Dionysa · 15/07/2019 21:14

No idea whether that worked 😂

thisnamechanger · 15/07/2019 21:18

Becks blue are lovely tbf. I got really drunk at my friend's wedding on Saturday and am completely convinced everyone hates me including DP and friends that weren't even there, despite DP saying was all fine. Have lain in bed in dark since got home from work. Brain has completely fallen out.

I was loving the apps until this weekend just gone!

Stay cool everyone, literally and figuratively.

NC4Now · 15/07/2019 21:57

My drink for the evening - cup of tea in a toddler cup because I can’t face going mug hunting in teenage bedrooms.

I bet you all have proper grown up mugs, don’t you?

I have to say I’m not a fan of Becks Blue or nanny state. I just feel cheated. I’d rather drink something completely different.

I’m winning today. Stuck to WW, stayed AF, made a good wedge at work, and even managed a swim. Maybe it’s not hormones... maybe this is the new me?!

I’ve been wondering how MadameForest has been getting on with the new house. Madame are you out there?????

buckeejit · 15/07/2019 22:13

Me, me, I have grown up mugs, yassss! I never win at being grown up so am quite delighted with that. 😁

I don't think I'd ever contemplate alcohol free beer or wine. I've tried the seedlip pretend gin but it's not for me.

DD's birthday went well & was a glorious day but was hungover a bit & couldn't find my Fitbit strap so thought there was no point in being active as I wouldn't see the benefit? I realise that last sentence totally negates my grown up points.

AF today & wrecked, would like to go to bed but think dh will rub my feet if I wait for 10 mins so I'm gambling.
