Have you ever had a celebrity encounter or near miss?

Have you ever had any celebrity encounters or near misses? There's a radio DJ who I snogged years ago and shouldn't have. He was far too principled to take it further and I really admired that, funnily enough though I was upset. He's still on the radio now and I think about it a fair bit if I hear him.

I met Ian Brown once, he accidentally burnt my arm with his cigarette. He was lovely, very apologetic.

Michael Flatley came on to me in a club and asked me back to his hotel room. I was in my very early 20’s, I refused of course. Absolutely not!

That is entirely standard MF behaviour, one gathers. He not only hit on the shy teenage au pair of some friends of ours, but gave the impression he assumed she’d been hired as eye candy for the DH. Ugh.

I'm absolutely loving this thread! Some brilliant posts.

@MyOtherProfile Mine wasn't an amusing one, it was bittersweet and couldn't go further which is why I've not named the guy.

Ugh Michael Twatley. Sounds like a creep.

I was in the queue next to Brendan Cole in a sandwich shop where he bought a cheese salad sandwich though.

Urgh indeed!

Loving these! I met Jasper Carrott at a golf show in my early twenties. I worked for a magazine and was on their stand. He stopped and chatted for ages, he was absolutely lovely.

Catching a train from Bristol to Manchester, I was putting my backpack in the overhead rack when I accidently brushed some bloke's head with my boob. It was David Olusoga, who accepted my apology with such grace.

I love David!

I’ve got loads, I accidentally scared Stephen Gerrard at Chester races, in his haste to leave by the back door he fell over a low table making his escape, he missed the first game of the season…

James Nesbit was very funny, nice guy but shocked everyone by leaving the event with 2 woman…

I kissed a lead singer of a big band

I have a great Prince Harry story too, the Botanist Sloane Square.

Dermot is a hoot, DVO isn’t.

name changing now

I was in Covent Garden market and stopped to talk to a man with a cat on his shoulder. The cat very graciously allowed me to stroke him. It finally dawned on me years later that he was Street Cat Bob.😍

My next door neighbours have sold their house. They are in their 70s. We assumed a retired couple bought it. Or a family. It's ten bed.We found out yesterday it's someone famous. Like you'd have heard of them Insta verified famous and followed by lots of other famous people famous . They are 30s and single. They move in next week. I don't think they will be there much as they have multiple homes

due to the way the houses are laid out we have shared amenities. So need to agree stuff and work together.

I'm completely bemused by it. Of all the guesses we made... This wasn't one of them...

I'd hope it doesn't get turned into an HMO!

I'd have picked him up and snuggled him and not washed my top because of the possibility of celebrity cat hair!

I let Vic Reeves and his wife go infront of me at a ticket machine in a car park once. Not even a nod or a thank you from either 🙄

This was before he was famous though. It isn't often you can go up to a celebrity and tickle them under the chin, is it?😂

Another animal-related one, I also once met the horse that played Black Beauty in the 1970's tv series.

Got stuck in a revolving door (different sections) with Jonathan Edwards the triple jumper.

I've met loads due to my job and location. Funniest in hindsight was a massive road rage at Bryan Ferry and an altercation with Malcolm McLaren. Met Janet Jackson at LA airport, she's an absolute sweetheart.

I was playing with the clipboard on a Waitrose trolley, let it snap shut by accident and woke up Sanjeev Bhaskar’s baby at a checkout. He did not look happy about it.

I’ve got a few but the most ‘all at the same time’ was back in the mid-80s, when I was working in a hotel in Manchester, singing in the hotel’s piano bar.

One evening, a group of people came in who looked ‘familiar’, and the pianist said ‘do you know who they are?’

I recognised Bonnie Langford (her red hair was very noticeable 😁). Turns out, half the cast of The Pirates of Penzance had dropped by after their show at the Opera House. Michael Ball, Paul Nicholas and Victor Spinetti amongst them. We carried on playing/singing and they joined us around the piano and asked if they could sing with us!!! Well YES 👍🏻

Pity it was the eighties and nobody had mobile phones to film this once in a lifetime moment 😂😂

I was at a 'do' with Jilly Cooper and we all had to go and have our pictures taken. She came up to me and grabbed my arm and was nattering away to me about how lovely everything was as we walked through to meet the photographer.

She was about two feet shorter than me so I couldn't really hear her, but I nodded and smiled and she was absolutely lovely. Just inaudible.

Do you remember Des Barnes from Coronation Street circa 1996? Because I confused him for my husband from behind on platform 7 (I remember it vividly) Bristol Temple Meads.
As a joke I rolled up a newspaper and shouted through the middle like a loudspeaker 'the train has landed stumpy' and Des turned round and said 'please I've been working all week all I want to do is enjoy my day off'. And then I had to explain I thought he was my husband but I couldn't get the words out and I called him ken Barlow.

Ha ha ha ha

We were visiting Kirkham Priory, Judi Dench was with a small group of people, painting and sketching the ruins. Judi Dench was using watercolour. Usually we would chat to anyone but as she is famous we kept a tactful distance.
