Have you ever had a celebrity encounter or near miss?

Have you ever had any celebrity encounters or near misses? There's a radio DJ who I snogged years ago and shouldn't have. He was far too principled to take it further and I really admired that, funnily enough though I was upset. He's still on the radio now and I think about it a fair bit if I hear him.

I met Jimmy Carr and he asked me where I was from, My mind went blank and my brain told me to say 'Manchester' so I told him I was from Manchester! He looked very confused because I'm actually French but moved to Northern Ireland decades ago so have a French/NI mixed accent! No clue why I did that, No clue why Manchester popped into my head in the first place because I have no connection to it and have never even visited! my thought process literally went 'Tell him you are from Manchester' and I blurted it out! I then felt like I couldn't say 'Oh, Actually I'm not from there at all' because I would have looked like an idiot so I just made my excuses and left!

My mum crashed into the back of John Majors car a long time ago, He was very nice about it..

On the grass in college? Without being told to get off?!

Yes, unlike some of the stuffier ones, we were allowed. He should have stuck to the paths though.

I was invited to a birthday party by a friend which was in Southall. The family hosting it were Indian including the birthday girl and we were asked to wear Asian attire. It was a normal modest family home packed with people but the dance floor in the lounge was strangely empty apart from me and Boy George in our interpretation of Indian clothing dancing round the lounge. Surreal.
Have also met Martin Kemp. Pleasant enough but he seemed a bit dim, like a male bimbo. His brother is much more charismatic and engaging.

I saw Noel Gallagher standing in a bar with vernon Kay and asked him if I could kiss him and he said yes. I kissed him on the cheek.
I’ve changed my username for this as I’ve told everyone I know so it’s v outing. But I’m a massive oasis fan and Noel allowing me to kiss him was the loveliest thing. Vernon looked unimpressed

Vern was probably thinking "it should have been me!"

Oh not at all! 😂 wow really honestly I don’t know why people have to be so rude at the best of times x

Exactly .. 😂 I’m nervous to say a word about tbem .. the hate I got .. I was shocked when I saw the real her .. everyone thinks she’s so lovely and praise her on insta etc .. we’re all human at the end of the day but when I saw her humiliate those girls too , it really showed how she was and I wasn’t imagining it either. They were only young teens .. felt awful for them. I do find soap stars are a bit weird anyway. They go to these stage schools etc and it seems to brainwash them into believing that they’re the best thing since sliced bread lol but what do I know to be fair … I always loved her character. But that’s certainly not her.. she may have had a rotten life or something .. my friend used to work for Yorkshire tv and saw the emmerdale cast in canteen .. many years ago this was so not the cast there now as far as I know “ not friendly at all kept themselves to themselves in a group “ she said .. the bbc also she worked .. the Grange Hill gang just normal kids lol

I know someone who met Will.I.AM .. lovely man she said .. Kevin spacey .. saw a play with Ralph Fiennes in many years ago .. when waiting for cast back stage ( spacey was not member he was there to see Ralph I assumed .. ) spacey walks past with a huge long plant pot thingy hiding his face .. with load of plants in .. as if to say .. I’m here but don’t you dare bother me .. no smile no joking about it nothing .. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Ralph lovely .. very quiet painfully shy .. can appear stand offish but just shy I think but very pleasant when of a mind when I’d seen him a few times year ago ( had a crush on him 😂). My youngest lad met Rodney Bewes and was totally unaware of the fame he has in the day .. the Likely lads .. it was a play about the First World War and questions and answers afterwards .. saw him in the bar and had a drink together 😂 said he was so lovely 🥹.. l said crikey son .. they had millions of viewers in the 70s .. lol .. Son was in his 20s .. totally unaware of his fame lol bless .. a lovely man 👏👍 I’ve not had any encounters that’s go much cudos lol .. sorry I’ve rattled on ! Lovely to talk to you .. I won’t approve vick and his wife then lol ! Take care x

Jon Snow from Channel 4 news nearly ran me over with his bicycle in London 25 yrs ago when I stepped out at a crossing when I shouldn’t have done. I can still remember the total look of terror in his eyes, it was a very close call and absolutely my fault. Also met Morten Harket from a-ha in a nightclub in Oslo in the mid 1990s. He was even more gorgeous in the flesh, so polite and charming and the hug he gave me as he left is forever ingrained on my memory. What a beautiful man! 😆

@Fishwifesslipper Omg! That's amazing, Morten Market is a massive crush of mine & I really get good vibes that he's a lovely person, thanks for confirming this. He is stunning looking isn't he!

I often think the saying, never meet your heroes is very true as so many people are a total disappointment. But yes, happy to confirm Morten Harket was just as lovely on the inside, as he is on the outside. And he was definitely very lovely on the outside 😂

Do you remember Des Barnes from Coronation Street circa 1996? Because I confused him for my husband from behind on platform 7 (I remember it vividly) Bristol Temple Meads.
As a joke I rolled up a newspaper and shouted through the middle like a loudspeaker 'the train has landed stumpy' and Des turned round and said 'please I've been working all week all I want to do is enjoy my day off'. And then I had to explain I thought he was my husband but I couldn't get the words out and I called him ken Barlow.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I got very drunk in my late teens one night, and shagged someone (in a tent), who later became a very famous musician in a mancunian Indie band, although you don’t hear them much anymore. Not Oasis.
My DH had a car prang with a well known magician.

I passed Sade walking along the pavement in a residential street in Highbury in the middle of the day in the mid 1980s. I was a big fan with several of her albums and instantly recognised her as she walked towards me. Our eyes met for a split second and I swerved more than I needed to give her maximum pavement as befitted a pleb in the presence of greatness. She was very beautiful.

Back when my kids were little we were at Peppa Pig world/Paultons. Son was too little for a lot of rides so my dh was taking my daughter on rides while I waited with my son in his buggy. All the way round we would see the same family, man, woman and their 2 daughters. He would tend to be like me waiting with his younger daughter while his wife and older daughter were on rides. We would smile and acknowledge each other at every ride. Kept saying to dh I really recognise that man, I think he must be someone I know from our hometown. Wasn‘t until the end as he had just walked off, I finally realised why I recognised him. It was the brazilian footballer Ronaldo R9. My dh was like there‘s no way he would be at Peppa Pig world but then realised I was right when later that night, Ronaldo posted about Peppa Pig world.

I’d love to know what these ‘principles’ were and how they would be compromised if he’d continued.
