Have you ever had a celebrity encounter or near miss?

Have you ever had any celebrity encounters or near misses? There's a radio DJ who I snogged years ago and shouldn't have. He was far too principled to take it further and I really admired that, funnily enough though I was upset. He's still on the radio now and I think about it a fair bit if I hear him.

I've had various: Judi Dench, Shane Richie, Melvyn Bragg, 'Zodiac Mindwarp', Michael Foot (pissed out of his head - and he must have been pushing 90), Wattie from The Exploited (very friendly, as was Shane Richie), Tom Baker, the original guitarist of Fleetwood Mac (that's a story in itself), Lorraine Chase, no doubt more will come to mind. One that stands out is 'comedian' Ronald ('Ronnie') Corbett. Admittedly the encounter was fleeting, but it stayed with me. I was walking purposefully along a backstreet in Marylebone in 2004; Corbett appeared at the far end, no one else on the pavement. I was dressed up in a fancy shirt, creepers, & very ripped jeans. As Corbett approached/passed he looked me up & down & gave me the filthiest look, as if he wanted to commit murder. He was about knee-height on me. Absolute bastard. Funnily enough a work colleague also encountered him: he was playing golf on the hole after Corbett's party. Corbett "was effing & blinding the entire time... children were present. Nasty bit of work". 🤷🏾‍♀️

I once dreamt that Ronnie Corbett asked me for a blow job. It was 1989 and as a 19 year old that dream alarmed me greatly! And it has unfortunately stayed with me!

I met Gloria Hunniford a couple of years ago when I was catering an event for a retirement home that she was helping to promote!
she was very lovely and had a picture with me which my dad was thrilled about!

That’s reminded me I sat at a table next to Gloria and her husband in a restaurant in Seven Oaks, Kent. Also sat at a table near model Sophie Dahl in a Japanese restaurant.

Sat behind Trinny on a plane, she needed help to get her tiny bag into the overhead lockers.
Travelled in business class. Robbie Williams and wife were in first class, he came into our area to see his baby and (I guess) nanny. He looked at me but I don't think he was actually focused on me. His male staff were in premium economy, there was a real hierarchy going on.
Christopher Biggins mistook me for a waitress at breakfast in a Southampton hotel.

I was sat in an outside cafe in Ilfracombe with my family when a man asked if he could take the empty chair beside me, we sat there for about half an hour, & when we left I realised the man was Jimmy Chricket & The Bachelors were all sat next to us , they were all on at the local Theatre.

yes I met Gloria Hunniford at the luggage carousel after a flight from NY. Everyone else's luggage had arrived and we were the last two left. She was lovely and friendly and looked immaculate.

In the 60s my uncle and aunt had a flat in Mount Street, London. They had the top flat and Mick Jagger had the flat below. Although I never met him, I certainly HEARD him! My uncle (not a fan) regularly used to go down and ask them to tone down the music.

Ive met Leslie Joseph and Vanessa Feltz when I was a guest a morning show on BBC Radio London.

I used to do film extra work when I lived in the UK and was on set with Ricky Gervais doing the Office Christmas special. And Ive also met Sid Owen from Eastenders on set as well.

YellowScarfRupert · Today 12:26

My stepdad used to drink in the same pub pub as Rik Parfit from Status Quo, said he was a friendly man.
I saw DJ Chris Evan’s crossing the road and I saw Danny Dyer at Chessington world of adventures

eta: I walked passed Eastenders Nana Moon through the walkway at Clapham Junction train station

Me too! I've no idea who Teddy Sherringham is, but he's a very patient man!

I think he's a footballer or golfer,no idea!
I just don't get why parents think its ok for their little darlings to annoy other passengers without saying anything, then when someone complains they act like everyone else is in the wrong!

Nearly runover with my dog at entrance to a petrol station in Datchet ( nr Windsor) by Ringo Starr in his Range Rover, I was seemingly invisible..
served his arrogant rude son Zac in a record shop and also served Alan Price, ‘Mad Lizzie’, Iris Williams ( with a copy of-her own recording) and drummer from Big Country. Also served Jimmy Carr in a supermarket who was an absolute joy!
and the least said about the late Simon Mcorkingdale the better…

Jerry Hall sat on the pew next to me at my church in Glastonbury. Before I realised who it was, the first thing that drew my eye was the beautiful quality of het tweed jacket.

One of my friends was at a party attended by Mick and Jerry (that dates me!). He says he is sure Jerry smiled at him😂

That is entirely standard MF behaviour, one gathers. He not only hit on the shy teenage au pair of some friends of ours, but gave the impression he assumed she’d been hired as eye candy for the DH. Ugh.

There was a butch lesbian that used to go to our local pub. Absolutely the spitting image of Michael Flatley.

I asked Tom Hardy the way to the toilet when I mistook him for a bouncer at a gig once.

Was on holiday last year driving around and this woman was blocking the path and when she realized we were about to run her over, she turned around and smiled, it was Sarah Jessica Parker. I’ve also met her husband Matthew Broderick.

Omg I’d have died! I love her!!

Quite a few, due the business my Ex was in. Most of them are either very boring or pains in the ass. Quite often they manage to be both.

Off my own bat though, my favourite encounter is that I sat on David Attenborough's lap while Sir Peter Scott beamed at us both and he and DA did an interview for BBC news. Pertinent information is that it was when the World Wildlife Fund was founded and I was 4 years old. Not knowing who either of them were, I was far more impressed that there was a beautiful bushbaby with us and at the time my favourite toy was a stuffed bushbaby I had very recently been given.

Do you remember Des Barnes from Coronation Street circa 1996? Because I confused him for my husband from behind on platform 7 (I remember it vividly) Bristol Temple Meads.
As a joke I rolled up a newspaper and shouted through the middle like a loudspeaker 'the train has landed stumpy' and Des turned round and said 'please I've been working all week all I want to do is enjoy my day off'. And then I had to explain I thought he was my husband but I couldn't get the words out and I called him ken Barlow.

Oh this is so funny. I really fancied him back in the day. What a knob saying that to you.

I was stood in a lift in Mothercare with Jo O'Meara from SClub7 many years ago when her child was tiny and in a pushchair. I was starstruck and couldn't get any words out to tell her what a great voice she has. She smiled at me and I smiled back. I still think about it now and feel like an idiot!

I used to see Sarah Lancashire regularly at our local supermarket at weekends. I assume she's moved away now or changed her shopping habits.

In the 70s, there was a family group having lunch at a pub I visited. The parents were Timothy West and Prunella Scales, and I assume one of the little boys with them must have been Sam West.

Also in the 70s, I was standing in a queue for sandwiches in central London. The person in front of me was sort of jigging around and singing to himself, and the man behind me started talking to himself. I was wondering what on earth I had wandered into when the person in front turned round and I realised it was Bernard Cribbins. When I turned round, the person behind turned out to be Leo McKern. I suspect they may both have been filming or rehearsing nearby.

My daughter had this very tall teacher at her school. They used to laugh at him because he had ambitions to be a stand-up comedian, but admitted he was actually quite funny. Turns out he was Greg Davies and his ambitions weren't so stupid after all.

I love Bernard ribbons.

We went into Truro cathedral when I was about 11 with my parents ( it was raining heavily , it always rains whenever I have been there ) and the late Larry Grayson was there talking to one of the tour guides.
Never seen any other celebrities.

Richard E Grant was in a film where I was an extra. He was really nice to the extras and crew. He kept swiping quantities of the nice food which had been put on a separate table for the main actors to snack on, and passing it to us 😂which obviously made a very good impression!

Fortunately he could sprint quickly

Yeah... don't think he'd've been able to if I'd hit him...

Met Tom Baker at the council dump and not for the first time. Think he might be a bit of a fellow hoarder. I was in my new car and he asked to sit in it as he was keen to get the same model. He then told me all about his second marriage and I said the car was roomy and a bit like a Tardis without really thinking who I was talking to.

He’s a lovely man as anyone who lives in the area I lived in then will tell you. He’s still knocking about in Tenterden in Kent and you still hear his voice before you see him.

@DoohickyJune , Stephen Tompkinson lives there. I wish I'd seen Ringo Starr.
