always. She and my dad were Civic types and had a lot of formals and she always wore opium.

Rive Gauche. I used to beg to be allowed a spray when she was putting some on for special occasions.

Eden and Lulu were her go tos when I was a child

I have some of her scarfs (shes still very much alive) and can still smell it on one of them, its very nostalgic.

She never went out. To this day, she thinks that women only need friends so they have company going to places where they can bag a man to marry. Once they’ve bagged one, no need for friends. And, obviously, once the chap in question has bagged you, he doesn’t have any need to take you out any more, either. 😥🙄

Ah I can still smell them all! Poison, Opium, Rive Gauche and Anais Anais. Clothes I don’t really recall but the perfumes, I can still picture them all in her dressing table. I’m not sure what she wears now. I might ask her! Thanks for posting this OP.

I remember my parents having dinner parties in the 1970s. My Mum used to bring me up some of the special food on a tray for me to eat in bed and she always had lipstick and perfume on.

My Mum also wore Rive Gauche but as we would often be going out in the car when she wore it, I associated it with my car sickness as a child so I can’t bear it . Ditto Madame Rochas . In my teens she wore Diorissimo which I love.

My gran not my mother (doesn't like perfume or dressing up) wore Kiku perfume and a long black fake fur coat. I've still got her last bottle of Kiku, it's over 40 years old, and will be buried with me.
