No, it's not ok. Saying someone's behaving like an animal isn't dehumanising them though.
It's just describing their behaviour. It's not saying they are one.

If that's what is going on then I don't understand really - apparently the coaches would be empty except for the English coach drivers driving them...
Do you think it's because the police believe the English coach drivers could still be attacked?

I guess, what do you think is exactly going on in this specific situation (not the wider issue with migration, the specific blue light escort) and why do you think it reflects badly on the police.

Well I’m sure that’s exactly what will happen. And they may have their claims refused in a few years’ time (but statistically, they are more likely to remain). None of which does anything to prevent people’s increasingly vocal disbelief at the numbers, the cost, the risk, the apparent porosity of our borders and a perception that there is zero political will to change anything.

My point is that we could/should have tackled this sensibly years ago, without pouring petrol on the flames of extremism, which puts everyone at risk - the vulnerable most of all.

Police have issued a new statement confirming six arrests, and an investigation into damage to a boat in the Channel after Danny Tommo was filmed slashing a dinghy.

The statement said: “Police and partner agencies, including the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and Border Security Command, worked closely in response to reports of a small boat crossing the English Channel on Tuesday 22 September.

“Members of the public who were closely following the activity of the vessel turned out in Gosport and Portsmouth to protest.

“To help facilitate peaceful protest, ensure the safety of the local community and support partners in the event of any emergency at sea, we deployed officers to Gosport and Portsmouth.

“Following news that the vessel would be docking elsewhere in the country, police were met with a group of people who remained in Gosport, some of whom became hostile towards officers.

“As a result, six people were arrested for offences including careless driving, assaulting an emergency worker and aggravated trespass.

”They remain in custody at this time and our enquiries into these incidents continue.

“We are also aware of a video circulating online relating to damage being caused to a boat in the English Channel on the afternoon of 22 September, and we are conducting enquiries into the matter.”
