Talking about stupid

The racists are now abusing Britain's main blind people’s charity, the RNIB, accusing it of helping "small boat" migrants after mistaking it for the RNLI.

It’s possible to be very academically bright whilst having no common sense, though. I knew a few students like that during my days at uni.

Either way, it’s quite a journey from Tory to Reform and then to Plaid.

I used to work in a university. I knew a lot of Professors like that.

That I can well believe.

As one of four graduates who stood around an unlit barbecue whilst a spotty youth without even a CSE to their name patiently explained how thick we were lighting it in a trice, I concur.

Ever since then I generally ignore qualifications when recruiting.

I am a graduate who can also do food adjacent arson! Do I get a prize?

Oh, go on, of course you do 😁

I do not understand how someone can stand as a candidate for Reform knowing their stance on immigration and their attacks on Wales as a Nation of Sanctuary and then say ‘I cannot support Reform's attacks on people seeking sanctuary’.
Ending the nation of Sanctuary was in their bloody manifesto ffs. Didn’t she read it?

DH reckons she just jumped on the Reform bandwagon to get a seat.

I am cross because we need to be able to trust politicians and our votes should mean something. I’m glad that she’s seen through Reform, I really am but I’m furious too. I feel the same about any defectors and I deplore the system in Wales that prevents by-elections.

Edited to change vets to votes. I’m sure the vets are doing their best even if they are extortionate these days.

I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. She is quite young and I would hope PC gave the move careful consideration before the accepted her.

Yes this. Young people can be easily persuaded/coercived into standing for a political role they're not happy with.

I have said this throughout my working life and often found that people who were academically intelligent had very little or no common sense. My job depended on common sense. I speak from my own experience obviously.

I don't see this lady's actions as anything other than keeping in with whoever is most popular at the time. I can't see how she couldn't have know how divisive Reform are before she chose to join them. I'm hoping that Plaid are keeping this in mind.
