To be fair, donating to a political party should never be anything other than a voluntary act in all regards.

Teaching unions have never been party affiliated.

She may have been stretching the truth as a member of Unison.

She's either trying to keep in with whoever she thinks is currently in favour. Or she doesn't quite know what she stands for. Either way, it makes her look daft.

I am giving her the benefit of the doubt. She is quite young and I would hope PC gave the move careful consideration before the accepted her.

Sorry, to quite the Twain: "That don't impress me much". I'm not a teenager.

It isn't "knowing stuff" that makes you not thick. It's knowing how to know stuff. Which is seems this person failed at the first attempt.

It's perfectly possible to be highly intelligent and educated in one way and thick as two short planks in others.

It’s possible to be very academically bright whilst having no common sense, though. I knew a few students like that during my days at uni.

Either way, it’s quite a journey from Tory to Reform and then to Plaid.

And considering her background in the care system she has done very well academically and professionally

As one of four graduates who stood around an unlit barbecue whilst a spotty youth without even a CSE to their name patiently explained how thick we were lighting it in a trice, I concur.

Ever since then I generally ignore qualifications when recruiting.

But not politically.

Which suggests that intelligence isn't a prerequisite for political office ?
