Which discontinued supermarket foods do you still miss the most?

Tesco used to do an extra strong garlic bread. The big big Tesco near me no longer sells it. I really miss it. When I eat garlic bead I want it so strong I lose my sight for 10 minutes. I want to be vampire proof for life.I want my sweat so garlicy it melts man-made fibres. That bread used to get me halfway there.

And Waitrose used to sell Spanish (Galician) tinned mussels which were well wicked too.

What do you miss?

Sainsbury's used to do a tomato based vongole (clam) pasta sauce in a jar. It was glorious. Disappeared about 15 years ago, still sad about it.

dontforgettofloss · 06/09/2026 13:51

Aldi used to do a coleslaw with chipotle in it, not mixed in with the coleslaw, just a big dollop on top, it was so nice

dudsville · 06/09/2026 14:02

Not a supermarket, but Pret used to do a hummus and salad on soft brown bread, had lots of red bell pepper. It was so good.

ickky · 06/09/2026 14:46

Shandy from supermarkets. None have it anymore.

Itstheyearitstarts · 06/09/2026 15:42

M&S used to do a dessert which was a large tub (sharing) which had chocolate mouse, chocolate brownie pieces, malted balls, chocolate pieces. It was delicious and me and DH used to share one at the weekend as a treat. Discontinued and now have a pretty disappointing selection of desserts.

Tuna and mayo potted sandwich spread! I used to take it camping to make butties with - less wasteful when you only have a cool box - can’t get it anywhere!

Lamb oxo cubes. I can’t find them anywhere.

I’m with you. Knorr are just too salty.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 06/09/2026 16:02

I will never get over it.

Vesta Chicken Supreme
Arctic Roll

Tesco used to do a 4 pack of chocolate orange muffins. They had orangey sticky blobs throughout, and they were amazing. They were super cheap as well. I miss them so much.

jackstini · 06/09/2026 16:39

Tinned prawns - just so easy when you want 1 portion!

Sweetpea333 · 06/09/2026 16:40

Birds Eye Stir your Senses South Indian curry and their bake in the bag prawns and chicken breast.

Not a supermarket, but when Starbucks was first a thing here (around 2000/2001) their muffins were amazing. Now they’re tasteless fluff and about a billion worthless calories.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 06/09/2026 16:50

Tesco Value Cornbeef Hash. Guilty pleasure and late night lazy food.

Extremely cheap, extremely processed, extremely salty, extremely mushy. I have no idea why they would want to discontinue it...

Tesco Cheese and Onion Sandwich. Not sure if discontinued in all Tesco but it is in ours. I don't want your rustic, artisan looking sandwich, I just want plain old cheese and onion!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2026 16:53

Aldi essential rice. Was about 35p a packet and tasted amazing and my daughter loved it. Does f like the other packet rices

Lidl used to sell frozen cauliflower cheese in a packet. You just took out however much you needed & shoved it in the oven & it tasted just like homemade but without the faff. Went to buy some yesterday & they'd disappeared. They didn't even have any fresh or frozen cauliflower so I had to buy frozen cauliflower & broccoli. If I hadn't promised to make cauliflower cheese I wouldn't have bothered

You can get frozen Cawliflower cheese in Aldi -it’s pretty good !

German rye bread from Lidl. Or at least I’ve not been able to get hold of it in my local one for what seems like forever. I’ve not visited other ones

M & S also did a yummy German rye bread - disappeared. Tesco did a round, softer rye loaf - disappeared. Sainsbury's had my favourite loaf, as I called it, a rye and buckwheat one which was delicious. Where has all the rye bread gone?🙁

And M & S Crunchetti crisps, which were like worms.

TheWayOfTheWorld · 06/09/2026 17:03

Cheese and tomato Pot Noodle - god I loved those! They stopped making them at some point in the early 90s and I’m still hopeful they will make a comeback 😅

M&S now has two products that may satisfy your German rye bread cravings! (I also enjoy this type of bread and recently ordered both!)

Check out their products called Nutrient Dense Super Seeded Oaty Sliced Bread and Only 4 Ingredients Wholegrain Sliced Rye Bread.

I think they have basically rebranded for more of a health / clean eating spin on these products.

Aldi do one

Safeway used to sell a green Thai curry sauce in a can. It was branded something like Thai Kitchen but not that. It was made in Germany and was the best Thai sauce I have ever eaten. After it vanished it popped up in Selfridges food hall in Oxford street for about 6 months then totally vanished. I want that sauce now! Also Dexters energy drink from late 80’s early 90’s. Lovely and addictive. Might have been Tesco?

PrincessDonutTheQueenAnneChonk · 06/09/2026 17:11

Glamorgan sausages and Mushroom and wine pasta and sauce is sadly missed here too. I check every shop I go in for glamorgan sausages.
Also miss Micronoodles and no Knorr I'm not satisfied with the shitty diy you released on tiktok.
