Which discontinued supermarket foods do you still miss the most?

Tesco used to do an extra strong garlic bread. The big big Tesco near me no longer sells it. I really miss it. When I eat garlic bead I want it so strong I lose my sight for 10 minutes. I want to be vampire proof for life.I want my sweat so garlicy it melts man-made fibres. That bread used to get me halfway there.

And Waitrose used to sell Spanish (Galician) tinned mussels which were well wicked too.

What do you miss?

Marks did a pizza 16 years ago which was virtually the only thing I ate during pregnancy. The crust was super crisp, everything was just amazing. They changed the recipe to the current fairly soggy version about 15 years ago and I still mourn.

Safeway used to make a canned lentil dhal in the late 90s, it was a university go to, very basic but utterly delicious when nursing a hangover!

MsMoneyPennie · 06/09/2026 18:48

Tesco used to sell goats cheese babybel that were delicious but they vanished from the shelves
I also miss the extra garlicky garlic bread

Sainsbury’s used to do a crown bun in their bakery - it was raisined buns joined in a circle covered in icing t- you just tore off the bun you wanted.
m&s do two large buns in pack but really expensive and far too much icing

Tracker bars that used to come in the coconut version

With the notable exception of Morrisons, I miss the deli counter ( I just want 2 slices of ham not an enormous packet) and the fresh-fish counter. All supermarkets the paucity of the selection of dried pulses- lentils, cannellini beans and not much else, where are haricot beans, red kidney beans, aduki beans, emmer wheat etc etc?

every supermarket I’ve been to sells red kidney beans. Dried or canned

M&S used to do popcorn covered in chocolate in kind of like a slab

Then they stopped, probably because they found out I loved it.

ScaredSceptic · 06/09/2026 19:05

We also miss that extra strong garlic bread. It was the only supermarket one worth buying (apart from the M&S ones where they make it from their leftover bakery baguettes).

Another product I really miss which disappeared quite a few years ago was a seafood frozen pizza from Lidl. It had white sauce, prawns, tuna, mussels and spinach, and it was so delicious.

M&S Deltas
M&S Mint Allsorts

Thought if another one!

Booths used to do a vegetarian all day breakfast pre prepped sandwich, it was egg, beans and mushroom with a tomato relish! I always picked it when we went up to Fornby for a family day out!

Foolish1984 · 06/09/2026 19:11

Michaelina’s Macaroni cheese frozen meal and the macaroni was separate to the cheese sauce - it was DIVINE. Long gone, sadly.
Also, frozen hula hoops! Actual Hula Hoops branded battered mashed potato rings you put in the oven, they were so, so nice

Forevergardening · 06/09/2026 19:12

Not a food but Andrews liver salts, my god I loved that stuff.

ccccccccc · 06/09/2026 19:13

M&S used to do a baked cheesecake (?New York) which was lemony, had sponge at the bottom and vine fruit in it. I can still smell it, I've made something similar of my own but not as good.

wellstopdoingitthen · 06/09/2026 19:14

I miss Rice Cremola (a type of milk pudding- very yellow) It was a firm favourite when I was a child in the 60/70s it became more and more difficult to find, Sainsbury’s was the last place I found it in the 90s but not available at all now. 😞

ccccccccc · 06/09/2026 19:17

Another thing I don't seem to be able to get anywhere now is tinned damsons. I did have a garden until five years ago and so could grow them, but am now reduced to growing them in a pot and only had five this year!

OtherS · 06/09/2026 19:20

At least a decade ago, Tesco used to a do these amazing doughballs in garlic butter, in a tin tray. They were sooo garlicky 🤤! They brought back new doughballs in a tin tray, but they are vastly inferior. There's nothing I've ever had that came close to those 😢

I loved that too! They also made it in Easter egg form - I may have demolished several 🤪

My son is missing the Deeno bars from Aldi!

Bought some recently, they were awful. They used to melt on your tongue but now they are all crispy and dry.

Absolutely Horrible! They should have left them alone.

Openmouthinsertfood · 06/09/2026 19:33

Sorry, haven't read the full thread so don't now if it's been mentioned, Findus 4 cheese crispy panckaes. Used to be lovely. Now they have some kind of pizza abonimation.

KnewYearKnewMe · 06/09/2026 19:33

Weight Watchers used to do a mint choc chip ice cream with a hard dark chocolate top.

i ate them for years and then boom - they were no more.

still sad about that!

Oh you just reminded me of the white chocolate tracker bars! They were delicious.

HorsesAreRunningOn3LegsTonight · 06/09/2026 19:36

I miss Kunzle cakes - they were around in 1960’s definitely.
i know not a specific shops , but still miss them.

Irismarle · 06/09/2026 19:42

Muller corner yoghurt used to do a version with muesli - I can’t remember its name now, but it was delicious as it wasn’t too sweet. All the versions now are fruity and very sweet.

Lomonald · 06/09/2026 12:50

Those frozen vanilla and strawberry mousse pots. Anyone else remember them?
@bugaboo218 on another thread someone said you were supposed to defrost those 😮

But if you defrosted them they were just air and collapsed into a sad little puddle.

Weetabix mini bites which were made with oats only. (I have a wheat allergy).

M&S briefly did a gf prawn cocktail sandwich which I truly miss.

Not a food item, but Vanish bars for stains. They were the best!

The vanish bars are gone?! They are/were the best stain remover! I bought my last lot from amazon because I couldn't find them in the shop. Now I know why. I wonder if the method wood polish stuff has been discontinued too. Haven't seen it in ages.
