Which discontinued supermarket foods do you still miss the most?

Tesco used to do an extra strong garlic bread. The big big Tesco near me no longer sells it. I really miss it. When I eat garlic bead I want it so strong I lose my sight for 10 minutes. I want to be vampire proof for life.I want my sweat so garlicy it melts man-made fibres. That bread used to get me halfway there.

And Waitrose used to sell Spanish (Galician) tinned mussels which were well wicked too.

What do you miss?

Clarnico mint creams! For a while I found a replacement in Lutti Mint Fondants but they seem to have been discontinued now as well.

Tesco bean and cheese wrap. It was so delicious. From many many years ago sadly.

Try Beechs I coffee and also mint creams for myself at Christmas. Last year I got them at a garden centre but you can buy them online.

I was going to mention M&S Rich Pastry Turkey Pie - is that the same as yours, although I don't remember it having ham included? Mine came in a blue and white checked box. It was quite delicious!

M&S Duchess Potatoes - so fiddly to make yourself but these were delicious.
M&S Rich Pastry Turkey Pie - loads of turkey in a white sauce with buttery pastry.
M&S used to do a fresh bar sponge cake with blackcurrant and whipped cream filling - again it was lovely!
They also did a large minced beef pie with puff pastry.
These were all before they added rapeseed oil to practically every single product they sell!! Dreadful stuff!

Going back even further, does anyone remember Fuller's walnut cake? It was walnut sponge with vanilla buttercream in the middle, then the whole cake was covered with shiny white icing (? fondant) and about 5 - 6 whole walnuts studded in the icing.

I know how to make the worlds most potent garlic butter in 30 seconds.

Put in microwave for 30 seconds on high until melted

Add butter (can be straight out the fridge as will melt as garlic/dish is hot). Add low and add more to adjust for taste. Mix. Add parsley/ salt or anything else as desired.

Pour straight away over bread or put back in fridge to harden.

All the supermarkets used to do nice "own brand" apricot wheat cereal - little mini shredded wheat pillows stuffed with apricot paste. One by one they stopped making them and only stocked the Kellogs version which was utterly vile as well as being more expensive. Lately Nestlé have brought out their own version, and thankfully Kellogs have stopped making their vile version, but I haven't bought anything by Nestlé since the 1980s and won't be starting now. I would want the own-brand version back, but I've actually found that savoury breakfasts work better for me anyway.

The other thing I miss is jars of pasta sauce and curry sauce that aren't mostly tomatoes. There's so many flavours you can have in sauces but the jar aisle of every supermarket is just all tomato with different additional spices and very little real variety. Sainsbury's used to do a really nice butternut squash pasta sauce that doesn't exist any more.

Thanks for your kind recommendation. If I see them I will try them but to be honest what I liked about Clarnico and Lutti was that they didn't have a chocolate coating so were a bit different.

I think they were called oat puffs or similar , can’t buy them now and trying to buy a low sugar cereal is nigh impossible , if anything they are sweeter than ever ! I’m diabetic and miss them .

Tesco used to stock a Buritto by Wicked Kitchen that I loved.
It was my weekly work day treat.

Do you not like sweet tastes? If so, as a fellow diabetic (Type 2.) and it's expensive, but I eat Surreal Cereal They do cereal, granola and overnight oats and very low to zero sugar and high protein. You can order them from the website but if you just want to try the one box boots, amazon, Sainsbury's, Morrisons, etc, do them.
Sorry if I've got the wrong end of the stick and you don't like sweet tastes.

Does anybody remember Campino Strawberry and Cream hard sweets? They were delicious, but discontinued in the 2000s

They've promised me it's seasonal so could be back - Aldi did a delicious goats cheese and red onion lattice

Penny Wafers. Still on sale in the Netherlands, but it makes for a costly supermarket run.
Sainsbury’s Chocolate Crunch. I can still almost taste them. And the caramel? wafers without a chocolate coating that they sold around the same time.
Waitrose Spicy Bean Salad. Is there a substitute available anywhere? I haven’t found one yet.
And the little individual Waitrose Cheese Souffles in glass dishes, great for a quick meal after work.
And, just recently, Quorn Fish Fingers and frozen Quorn Sausage Rolls have fallen a victim to the popularity of fake meat. I used to buy 10 packs of Quorn Fish Fingers at a time when online shopping: When they no longer stocked them the delivery shocker included 10 packs of Birds Eye Fish Fingers because I hadn’t ticked ‘No Substitutes’ - Aaargh! And the chilled Quorn Sausage Rolls available now are flavourless and soggy, not spicy like the frozen ones used to be.

Thanks for the warning about the Quorn sausage rolls. Quorn isn't what it used to be. I don't know what they've done to it, but it goes slimy when cooked now. So no slow marinated chunks or mince for home made dishes. You have to throw it in last min to try to stop it going slimy.

For garlic bread that’ll blow your mouth off, do it Spanish style, (maybe not official, but some me Spanish in-laws did it this way):

toast your bread (a good sourdough or ciabatta, it needs to be sturdy), drizzle with olive oil, then rub the raw garlic clove straight onto the toast (helps to cut them in half so, you hold the narrowing end and rub the flat, fat end! I tasted it for days!!

Toast toppers and creamed mushrooms.
