Rupert Lowe waiting in the wings with Restore if Farage is brought down. The left need to be careful what they wish for.

I saw some polling showing that of those voting for Reform and Greens, only around 14% of them would return to voting for mainstream parties if their party of choice disappeared.

I think there’s a solid Reform base of ex-Tory and ex-Labour voters. The likelihood of either party coaxing them back by the next GE is slim. They’re angry - that’s not itself a bad thing - and for now dismissive of longer established parties. Within that group is an inner core of very motivated die-hards who’ve drunk Farage’s Kool Aid and found an outlet for their fringe ideas.

Labour can attract some votes lost to the Greens though, IMO. Labour will become even more metropolitan and out of touch, but they’ll add a point or two in the polls if Burnham keeps mouthing left-Labour nonsense.

The Tories are in hibernation until Reform blows up, which I’m sure it will.

Restore isn't mainstream or popular enough to take over from Reform. They'd only attract a small % of their voters, IMO.

I agree that Reform will implode one way or another. Farage will not want to be PM. Far too much work and having to be accountable. Not the job he'd want!

True. There's some evidence of Green voters going back to Labour since Burnham took over. Who knows if that will last once Burnham has to start making some serious decisions.

It had never occurred to me that anyone but Farage would be PM if Reform got in. It seems a bit sinister that the party is basically Farage but that he wouldn’t take an accountable position in government.

I think Starmer just drove so many away, to the Greens and to Reform.

I don’t think it’s a done deal for Burnham though, he’s inoffensive in comparison but no one can run on vibes alone.

I am not too sure about that. Where I live people don’t discuss their political beliefs. I was quite surprised when we had the local elections and Reform got in. We were previously a Conservative stronghold for many years.

They only discussed when Nosey Parker me asked them and they said yes we voted Reform to see how they run the local council and if they do well we could vote for them again in the General Election.

Most are professional people and all the farmers round here definitely vote Reform.

So I don’t think Reform are a fading force. I am quite worried that the Conservatives won’t get in next time. Though if I thought they had no chance at all and Reform were leading the polls I may vote for Reform just to get Labour out. Hope this doesn’t happen though☹️

Well, Reform were predicted to take over our town in the local elections and they didn't. They did terribly, in fact (Lib Dems did really well).

I don't discuss it in real life, but we have a very very active town Facebook page, so you can see which way people are going.

I really can't see Reform doing that well (look at % votes vs seats won last time; it tells you that their support doesn't have enough pockets to win with FPTP).

Real property/being a landlord seems to be an Achilles heel for the left. Various Labour figures have fallen flat on their faces over property ownership or running rentals.
