A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 🥀

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Thanks for this. Its my next job but can't face it today. The mortgage was enough for one day.

I'm constantly nagging the dc about energy use again. Tempted to remove all the light switches and take the knobs off the oven instead. 😂
Got home from work lastnight to heating on (it wasn't cold), back door wide open, and the oven on, but empty because they forgot to switch it off. Why use a large oven for a few potato wedges when there's an airfryer on the worktop? And then leave it switched on ffs. Don't get me started on how long they leave the shower running before they actually get in. Rant over.

Would be good if I could plug my high energy dog into the grid.

Heating on, WTF??!! I would be raging. Luckily only one DC still at home and she's moving out in a few weeks. Hoping to see some savings!

Nuthatch26 · 03/09/2026 17:56

Oof, strong words there.

I don't think Labour actually care. Looking at the faces of the front bench yesterday, all grinning like its a game. I think they'd prefer to just ignore it so they can crack on with their silly pet projects that they've dreamt of since 6th form.

Kemi will skewer them on the economy.

Yes laughing away. Really so bad, they’re clowns - who do a line in sneering.

Oh you'll be rolling in cash in a few weeks then if she's anything like mine. 😂😂

Today I found dd in her room, blackout blind closed, all lights on. It was broad daylight. 🤯

Yet they chastise me for killing the planet by driving a 4x4 and not buying my clothes on vinted.

@Nuthatch26 loving the idea of plugging your high energy dog into the grid 😂

@SheepinWolfsdress “How many prime ministers does it take to get Macron to actually help the bloody small boat thing ??”

I’m sure there’s a variation of the lightbulb joke in there somewhere…

A cab driver said something to me about saving money today. He wasn’t being nosy. He knows me pretty well and I think he genuinely felt like he ought to give that advice! I guess everybody’s thinking it.

SheepinWolfsdress · 03/09/2026 19:18

@SapphireCasino I know 😂i thought and couldnt be bothered to follow through.

It's pointless !

I'm utterly fed up of this there is no hope anywhere is there ??

And they ...the people up here are doing absolutely nothing to help us.

Ooh, that would wind me right up! DD isn't too bad, although she does like a long shower 'because it's warm' 🙄

Have you heard that advert about saving water with all these kids bitching about adults wasting water? Drives DH and I mad!

When foster son left for uni last year my water bill plummeted, he's been home for almost 4 months and it's high again. He goes back in 2 weeks so hopefully it will go down again.

Yes I've seen it. Drives me bonkers too.
Have they actually met any young people recently? I think not. 😂
Hopefully the penny will drop when they start paying their own bills.

I hear you.
What do they do in the shower for it to take so long? Baffles me.
One of mine got both barrels recently. She had a hot bath, then had a long shower straight after to "wash the bath water off". Aaarrggghhh. 😂

Yes it really is just the left fighting out with the left.

Listening to a pollster earlier he thought Polanski might do it but I’m not sure as the odds don’t show that. Either way it’s all the same - left approach to spending etc

DH I swear times me in the shower, quizzing me recently do I switch it on before I get in. Do I switch it off before I get out. 😕

I stopped being a twat about use by / best before dates when I was buying food myself! 😬🤣

SapphireCasino · 03/09/2026 21:19

@Nuthatch26 obviously you’re not paying my water bill but I do understand that. Shower after bath is pretty normal. <ducks>

I must be the adult that the kids are complaining about in the advert 😂 I very rarely do it but that’s because I have one of these freakshow new build baths that doesn’t fill up properly.

Mine does a lot of sport so often has 3 showers or baths in a day. It's so annoying.

I don't bath because it's a D bath, blooming enormous. Takes twenty minutes using only the hot tap to half fill and then it's not very hot. I do miss an immersion heater and a hot bath sometimes 😔

Reading this it does feel like where we are, but I guess we’ll see

Only a fiscal crisis will prompt the UK to address its longstanding political and borrowing problems, a senior economist has warned.

Jagjit S. Chadha, an economist at the University of Cambridge, warned yesterday on social media that bond markets were not only responding to fears around debt amongst all wealthy countries but also to “political sceloris and fiscal incontinence” in the UK specifically.

At least there are a few serious and credible professors left at Cambridge.

Same, but do they really need a feckin shower before and after the gym? Drives me bonkers.

I'll stop now 😂

I try to encourage mine to shower at the gym. To no avail.

Mine would probably shower at the gym, then shower again at home to wash the gym shower off. 🙄
