I know what you mean. It’s just so many things happen that make me think they have no idea what ordinary life is like.

We are not at that stage, though. We need somebody who can make emergency cuts really.

It sounds absolutely dire in Ceuta. Who is surprised that the Spanish government was lying when they said that 'almost all' had been deported within days. Eagerly repeated by the BBC, of course.

The situation in Ceuta looks dire. The protests are huge, but they'll be labelled at racist knucke-draggers no doubt. Spanish authorities seem more interested in pinning the blame elsewhere than actually solving it.
The situation has led to an "exponential rise in sexual assault".

Diane Abbot strikes again.

President Putin raised the prospect of strikes on British military facilities as Diane Abbott, the Labour MP, described Russia’s threat to the UK as a “Nato fiction”.

On Wednesday Abbott, in a post on X, said: “The imminent threat from Russia is a Nato fiction to justify their complete capitulation to Trump’s demands for more military spending. The increase should not go ahead.”

Ukrainian officials described Abbott’s comments as “unacceptable”, while at least two Nato allies have raised the remarks with the British government, Politico reported.

Just listened to Burnham's DEFRA comments yesterday. Disgraceful and tone deaf.
Although it confirms exactly what we knew about labour's opinion of farming and rural affairs.

To be clear, the comment I was referencing as unfortunate was this “hardly some PPS to the DEFRA Secretary” in relation to Andrew Griffith. I was thinking more of the “jibe” section than the rest of it.

The Conservatives have announced that they will fund 3% on defence by slashing housing benefits paid to people living in the more expensive parts of the country, removing VAT exemption on bought motability cars, and reinstating the two child cap.

The argument they're making on housing benefit is that people in full time employment and not in receipt of welfare can't afford to live in these expensive areas, yet some families are receiving up to £36K a year in housing benefit to live there at taxpayers expense.

Yes he desperately needs to get behind PR gestures. As for claiming he’d cut tax because of electric bills vat…nobody is convinced by these tiny claims. It’s like one month of 0. % growth being claimed as a turnaround.

The frontrunner for Labour candidate for Starmer’s seat is a woman whose online official profile says that her experience is in being a local councillor, the charity sector and working for the local council.

I couldn’t care less about where in the world she came from, her colour or her religion. But I despair at Labour’s treadmill of people who’ve done nothing but public and third-sector work, whoever they are. It’s such a self-perpetuating industry of think-a-like Labour drones.

The bond markets' reaction to Truss's mini budget was a 'moron premium' and the cost of borrowing soared. Burnham's apparent financial incompetence is fuelling predictions of another so-called moron premium.

After his refusal yesterday to commit to cutting spending, coupled with his derogatory comments about Truss, he should be thinking very carefully about greenhouses and not throwing stones.

It's early days, but I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere there's already a book running on the length of Burnham's tenure.

There’s not much in it. Polanski or the Labour candidate. Either way it’s total lack of private sector insight that we end up with.

Healey is giving a speech early next week apparently in an effort to calm the markets. Not sure that will help after Burnham's performances on Tuesday and Wednesday.

It’s the overwhelming Labour MP experience of knowing nothing but how to raise and spend ever more public or donated money that alarms me. There are a few realistic Labour MPs but not enough to make a difference to the backbench collective view.

The Labour ‘mission’ isn’t to lift up the downtrodden any more. The days of Attlee are very long gone. There’s no commitment to fighting “want, disease, ignorance, squalor and idleness” (Beveridge’s - a Liberal - ‘five great giants’). It’s just about statism and forging a career in Labour now.

He’ll just be reiterating the government’s “fiscal responsibility” but the markets will demand hard data.

I suppose it’s iterative. The more state dependency there is the more people vote for that messaging.

It’s concerning because what is needed is jobs, and that takes some understanding.

The bond markets are coming for Burnham. I'm certain that in budget there will be yet more taxes.
