According to someone being interviewed on R4 this morning (I didn't catch her name, but Labour, I think), the problem is the benefits bill - specifically the triple lock; it's unfair and the country can't afford it - boomers, free university, yada, yada...
Not once did she mention the other benefactors of the UK's largesse.
It's such blinkered and malevolent thinking; Reeves demonstrated it when she pulled the WFA. It's obvious the triple lock is unsustainable, but to target it in isolation is inequitable.
