Hmmmm. I'm torn between high, because Labour love a u-turn and exceptionally low because ideology over jobs.

Yep, which we all said would happen on the day of Starmer's first budget. (I refuse to blame Reeves as Truss gets the blame for hers).
The Labour lot defending the NI hike, yet deny that Labour have trashed the jobs market. Make it make sense?

Definitely a competition between “we have reflected and we have to get it right” (i.e. u-turn) and misty-eyed leftists in Labour shouting “up the workers!”.

The reason I’d firmly go for no u-turn is that Burnham cannot risk alienating Rayner and her supporters. He knows splits and muttering will see him off. If you tie yourself to the Labour left, you limit your options down to the worst possible.

I’ll give them an easy out - they announce a new deal for young workers, with a reduction in tax and minimum wage for everyone under,
what at least 35? And in 6 months they can announce a ‘take on a sacked worker due to AI package’ for the over 35s….involving…tax cuts!

That's what I started on 25 years ago. Of course, back then it was an excellent starting salary, not sub minimum wage.

I started on £28k plus overtime and sign on bonus in…2001. It’s shocking that grad salaries declined so badly, vacancies have fallen and degree costs are sky high…truly awful.

I was earning that in 1991 when I was able to easily afford a mortgage to buy my 67k 2-bed flat in leafy Richmond. SW London…
That flat is now probably worth with about 400K.

Ok, just out of curiosity it was last sold in 2022 for £440k…

I started on £14,500 in 2001. I still bought a house (2 up, 2 down) for £42k, which sold for £90k 3.5 years later. Right time, right place.

Burnham’s told ITV that he’s not going to call an election. From the man who repeatedly said he wouldn’t walk from being Manchester mayor, I think we can take that with a pinch of salt.

That said, I suspect he won’t call an election next year because he won’t have had the time to build a convincing poll lead (assuming he can do that at all). His backbenchers are the brake on an early election. They’re terrified of not being the ‘duly elected’ and going back to doing campaigning for trade unions and charities.

Two of our grandchildren have been doing Duolingo all summer. Why? Because they were told that their daddy and their uncle both got jobs abroad when young and needed to pick up a new language or two fast. Daddy explained that another language can be very useful job wise if you want to work abroad.

The oldest started learning and the younger one not wanting to be left out has as well.

Starmer was a Psychopath but is was serious, this man is a complete joke. I am utterly embarrassed that Culcheth Warrington produced such as 'Pleb'. Did you see him today sounding like Basil Fawlty, when he was speaking to the Ukraine (Do you Speak English ) I was waiting him to start using hand gestures to communicate.

Starmer was Psychopathic in nature but underneath he had a serious intent to full-fill his horrible agenda. This man looks like he has been selected via a Blue -Peter competition to find a Prime- Minister or perhaps he entered the competition, because his mum saved three carton tops of Skimmed Milk !

I was just enjoying the knowledge that Bollard would have been fuming to see Burnham visiting Ukraine in his place. 😂😂
God I don't miss Starmer. He's been grinding my gears for ten years. Good riddance.
