Guess my age

No this isn't going to be one of those threads where I post a photograph and ask you to say how old you think I look.

I just thought for a bit of fun for anyone who like me has too much time on their hands, I would post a few facts about myself and see if you can guess my age.

I will post odd random facts over the next day, then tell you my age tomorrow.

This is a new user name, in case I have mentioned my age in previous post.

Fact 1) My mother used to wear dresses made of crimplene.

Fact 2) My father used to ride a bike and wore cycle clips to stop his trousets from getting caught in the cycle chain.

65? It depends how on trend your mother was! Did you have nylon sheets and vivid wallpaper and an eiderdown, too?

Bjorkdidit · 18/06/2026 14:53

It also depends how old your parents were when you were born. Late teens or late 40s?

I wouldn't say my mother was trendy. We didn't have nylon sheets. I had vivid wallpaper in my bedroom as a teenager, but that was the only room.

Next fact - my parents were both born before the start of World War 1.

Your parents sound more like my grandparents and I’m not young so I’m going to say late sixties, early seventies.

Was going to guess you’re maybe 60ish? Your parents are only a little older than mine/PiLs, so am just adding a couple of years.

Funny to think, now, just how much the world has changed for them in their lifetime. Was your mother in the Cliff Richard or Elvis Presley fan group? MiL was CR and her sister was EP!

openthefrontdoor · 18/06/2026 15:08

I won't tell you my exact age until tomorrow, but at this stage, nobody has guessed my exact age, although some people are in within a few years.

I’d also say mid 70s. So 75/76.
